Whats in your cart?

I was at the supermarket doing my weekly shop, and the lines were really long at the checkout. So to let the time pass, I looked at what other people were buying.
I realised how much of a snob I am, as in my head I was criticising everything that went through the scanner.

Here's an example:
Frosted Cereal - "Oh my goodness, do they not know how much sugar is in that crap?"
Soda - "You might as well inject syrup into your veins"
Pizza - "There are enough carbs in that to feed an army"
Frozen ready meal "with the size of those portions I would need to eat 10 of them!"

Then I looked down at my basket and saw that it contained my usual:
Rolled old fashioned oats
Chicken breasts (skinless)
Frozen broccoli
Frozen green beans.
Cans of tuna
Sweet potato's
Fat free cottage cheese

Yeh, and then I wondered who the wierdo was :)

Crazy how your opinion of food changes when you actually know something about it.

It just made me laugh, thats all - thought I would share.

I am the same way... But what is funny is that people look at me like I am weird, like I am supposed to have all junk food... But In my head I say THATS OKAY I LOOK BETTER THAN YOU !!!:rasp:

lol

That is funny toughchick because I just got back from the grocery store and was looking at what other people had in their carts, thinking WOW they must think I am so good compared to them :). I was jealous as I am cutting.

My wife is with our grandson so I have to fend for myself. Actually she stocked up the place for me, I just forgot to have her get a couple things.

Today I got lettuce, tomatos, diet soda and eggs.

Natty ice, a box of wine and some beef jerky....yeeeehaaa.

Or perhaps chicken and broccoli.

Don't you know how much sodium is in that crap! haha just kidding...

Yeah I do the same thing man its funny you mentioned that, I criticize what people buy constantly. Most people think they are eating healthy when they get like corn flakes, wheat bread (the unbleached enriched wheat flour kind lol), and lean ground beef. What they don't understand is the GI scale and the amount of fat in even lean ground beef ;).

I keep forgetting cottage cheese. I tried it a couple months back and didn't care for it plain. I'm going to have to do something creative with it. Other than that, my cart doesn't really differ from karate girls. Here we go,
Multi-grain oats
brown organic eggs
tuna
ground turkey
chicken breasts
bananas
broccoli
broccoli rabe
bluebird grapefruit juice (from concentrate)
whole wheat pasta
brown rice
safflour oil
sun butter- awsome
organic spring greens mix
asparagus

I know I'm forgetting stuff, like when I went on that Edy's ice cream binge (Girl scout cookie blends). Ok, maybe my cart is a little different than karate girl's. Oh I almost forgot, Lindt Dark Chocolate.

Cottage cheese - horrible on its own :)
Great with splenda and cinamon
Or mixed in with tuna to make a filling for a tuna wrap :)

Bought a wheat bread today that has 5 grams of fiber and 5 grams of protein in a slice. I don't eat much bread but i'm tired of looking for anything better. 3 stores for food is enough :)

Usually in my cart:
Fat free sharp cheddar cheese
Rolled oats
Skim milk
Tuna Fish
Ground turkey breast 99% FF 26grams of prot and 1.5 fat per serving is nice
Lettuce
Tomatoes
Bananas
Peanut butter
Random Vegis
Chicken Breast(skinless)

Just finishing PCT, so calories have been high;

Healthnut multi grain bread
nat peanut butter
sugar free grape jelly (gotta have it...)
large pack skinless chicken breasts
5 lbs grouper filets
3lbs sliced turkey breast
93% fat free ground beef
fat free yogurt
Quaker oats
field peas
brocolli
green beans
asparagus
carrots
2 bags spring mix salad
whole wheat pasta
brown rice
apples
bananas
unsweetened frozen strawberries
olive oil
1/2 gal 1% milk
sweet potatos
dozen eggs
4 2 1/2 gal Spring water (city water tastes like sh*t!)

and a bottle of Bonny Doon Cardinal Zinfandel, hunk of cheddar cheese, & a baguet of french bread.....(Sunday afternoon meltdown before my next tod)

20 lbs 96% Ground Turkey (2 lb packages each)
1 cylinder Quaker Old Fashioned Oats
4 bags Brown Rice
Two packages of Sunflower seeds
10 bags spinach leaves
2 groupings of Bananas
Six pack of beer
Various coffee bags with different flavorings

I'm bulking now so all this totals up to 4800-5000 calories daily.

Sometimes I get Red Wine Vinegar, Natural Peanut Butter, and Omega 3-6-9s. Every week there's some fruit thats on sale. This week it was Strawberries so I got four packages of them. Most of the time its stuff like Kiwi Fruit so I load up on that.

I live in a college town so half of the carts are alcohol. I drink a six pack or one every day but its the quality beer that I try. No Bud Light or Miller High Life for me.

This is kinda funny I ran into this thread. I was at my local grocery store today and I wanted to pick some chicken up I was running low. I never look at prices really so for shets n giggles I went looking at price per pound and realized the chicken I normally buy is VERY expensive. So I walked further down the chicken section and seen huge family packs of boneless skinless chicken on sale for like 1.50 a lbs :jaw: I about craped seeing how I was paying 6 bucks a pound. Needless to say EVERYONE was looking at me like I was a freak, I bought every single huge family pack they had... It was only 13 packs well plus I bought 5 smaller packs lol. My wife wasn't to thrilled about me spending that much money, it was only 130 bucks LOL, seeing how she sent me there for some plastic baggies HAHA.. Now I have enough chicken for a few weeks lol I was going to take a picture for the "Show me your stash" thread but I didn't lol.....

Boneless Skinless chicken lolol
Cottage cheese
Skim milk
Whole grain bagels
Green beans
broccoli
Kashi cereal
Peanut butter
Smucker's low sugar jelly
Trader Joe's coco yogurt (My weakness!!!!)
Ground Turkey
Raspberries
Strawberries
Watermelon
Seedless Oranges
Bottled Water
Splenda
Low fat cheese
I cant believe its not butter spray lol
Pam spray
Eggs

The baggers always have comments when I pull up with my carts.. the cashier once even asked me what egg beaters were.. i was like.. umm.. EGGS....

Last time I went and bought about a weeks worth of small tubs of cottage cheese. I eat one everynight before bed. The guy besides me asked if they were on sale because I was buying so many. I laughed and said that was just for this week for myself. Im almost there daily buying fresh food because its right besides my gym and work so Im used to the weird looks.

People always give me a weird look when they see me carrying my 5 dozen package of eggs to the register every week. Just because I look like I'm 14 doesn't mean im about to go egg houses people....c'mon :frustrate

Well seeing as how I just bought food yesterday, let's see what I bought:
Skim Milk
Angus Roast Beef (thin sliced)
Double Fiber Bread (5g a slice)
Whole Wheat Bagels
Fat Free Strawberry Philly Cream Cheese (My Kryptonite :food:)
2 cartons of Egg Whites
Sliced Provolone Cheese
Petite Sirloin (1.5lbs)
96/4 Hamburger Meat (2lbs)
Whole Wheat Hamburger Buns

I try to eat as healthy as possible, but I do like to treat myself a bit. :D

50lbs boneless skinless chicken breasts (on sale and utter hell carrying home)
3 No fat, no sugar added yogurt
3, 1 % cottage cheese
Quaker Oats 1 min variety

Thats it

My god, why do you buy so much at once?? I bought 12 lbs the other day and I felt like everyone was looking at me.....Was it on sale for 33 cents a lb. because I can always find it for 2.99/lb. This week I got lucky though and found it for 1.99 lb.

It is usually 7.49/lbs. They had some ridiculous sale at 2.49/lbs so I simply grabbed all chicken they had and then asked the butched to get more from the back. Just put them all in seperate ziplock bags and presto, enough chicken for the week.

Chicken breast, eggs, skim-milk, rice, pasta, oil and ocassionally oats. That's more or less all the food I eat.
