What Do You Think Gives Steroid's A Bad Name?

The Jershey Shore Juice-Heads? That guy in the gym who's putting up an insane amount of weight while the non-users think "the only reason hes lifting that much is cause' of Roid's". Jealousy. Many other factors, this came to me because while i was on a recent beach trip there were a group of dudes outside there room (at the suite i was staying in) and they were drunk most likely, fussing about how one does steroids, then the other dude was like "I'm all natural mother****er!". Lol, i was wondering how Roids became to have this insanely bad rep, to the extent where people (who have NEVER tried them) are so sudden to jump the gun on "Steroids!?!?!?!?! Oh lord, don't do those, they shrink your dick!!!".

Let's look through History shall' we?

"Invalid Link Removed, the breakfast of champions."

- Arnold Schwarzenegger

The history of anabolic steroids can be traced back to as early as 1930's, before the term steroid was even used. In the 1930's, a team of scientists was able to create a synthetic form of testosterone (a male hormone) to help treat men who were unable to produce enough of the hormone for normal growth, development, and sexual functioning.

Later, during World War II it was found that this artificial form of testosterone could be used to help malnourished soldiers gain weight and improve performance. After the war, athletes began to use steroids to enhance their performance in competitions. In the 1956 Olympics, Soviet athletes, especially wrestlers, performed at exceptionally high levels. After learning that those athletes were using testosterone, an American physician (Dr. Zeigler) created a more selective form of what we know as anabolic steroids. From that point until the early 1970's, steroids became increasingly popular among not just Olympic athletes, but also professional sports players and high school athletes.

In 1975, the International Olympic Committee finally banned the use of steroids in Olympic competition. Black market (or illegal) sales continued to increase in the following years, and in 1988, the first major federal regulation of steroids was introduced as part of the Anti-Drug Abuse Act - stiffening penalties for the sale and possession of steroids. Only a couple of years later, Congress passed the Anabolic Steroid Enforcement Act of 1990, which placed certain anabolic steroids on Schedule III of the Controlled Substances Act (CSA). Previously, steroids had been unscheduled and controlled only by state laws. Today, illicit sales of steroids are still prevalent and surveys show that adolescent use of steroids is on the rise and that a great number of adults are actively using.

.....Lol, i mean good god, when the **** is the government gonna stop? I can understand the legalalities of Roids, why they're illegal, blah blah blah, cause' the government looks at it as "If we make it legal then younger people will start doing them unproperly educated and end up hurting themselves". Maybe it is better that they're illegal, only grown, experienced people would have connections to get em', and its not easy as hell for younger peeps to get ahold of em' whenever they want and **** they're bodys up.

I dont know, let's hear what you guys have to say about this.

steroids got a bad wrap because we elected all the skinny pus*ies into off that hated the big strong cool guys, and like banning weed, it is their way at getting back at those guys they wished they could be, but never were.

Hmmmm, highly doubt that, but good ussumption. And weed, well the reason its illegal is because the Government can't Tax it.

Well actually the weed was a smear campaign by some guy who was wired hemp would kill off a large part of his textile company. He then equated the use of it to it making you lazy like all the mexicans who brought it into the US. So it's kinda the same idea. You take a small group that people see and don't like and day "this is what happens if you use it". And everyone develops a fear and prejudice without any research or knowledge.

Yah. Long story short the reason it's illegal TODAY is because the Government can't tax it. The reason it BECAME illegal is ^^^^^

Thank the media too. I saw a report and I cant remember if it was but I think it was on hbo and they couldnt really find or associate any evidence that it did harm when used appropriately, so they didnt give they re stance on it as being OK but they didnt make it sound too be horrible at all.

The biggest reason, in my opinion, that they have a bad name is because of their use in competitive sports, whether that be professional or Olympic. In this case, it is seen as cheating. Personally I believe that individuals should be able to take whatever they want. That could be steroids or it could be heroin. As long as you are not harming others, I believe in better living through chemistry, although this is a slippery slope topic and I can see the point on both sides. And if you sign up to be part of a team or event, then you do need to play by their rules. But if you're just doing it for yourself, then I am all for it.

Its mostly because people are uneducated and thererfore make rash assumptions that steroids will **** up your organs, make your balls shrink and render them useless, as well as make your dick shrink / shrivel up.

Also, people always think that "yeah he's on roids, thats why he's lifting so much". I'd like to see those people lift the same weights on gear.

Taylor and Don Hooten.

Nevermind the fact that the kid was on SSRIs and did goes knows how many recreational drugs, it was the steroids that killed him.

1) Skinny dweebs who want a short cut to muscular. I was benching 300lbs at 5' 5" at 154lb before I touched one. IOW, those who think it is the answer to everything. I'm so tired of seeing those logs. Of course they'll gain 30lbs.
2) the people who think they are complete poison. In a given population somebody's gonna die from something. A lot of data on testosterone was assumed from data on estrogen.
3) Then there is the envious. Envy - tearing someone down rather than building yourself up.
4) The *******s who strut around who make it known they are using. Haven't seen too many but I've heard of a few.

it's mostly 1 and 2

watch superhumans lol idiots like the father who thinks steroids killed his son because it made him depressed. But hes in denial not thinking it was the medication he was on that one of the side effects was depression

^^^thats the kid from bigger stronger faster right?

Yeah. I went to undergrad with ~6 or so people from Plano West and were in the same grade as him. All of them say that he was a spoiled brat that used a lot of coke.

The Govt gives steroids a bad name. Why? More Money to be made and jobs created by " controlling" them. Just like illegal narcotics. Take away the profit margins if you could buy them at Walmart legally, and that all goes away and only walmart makes money. Not uncle Sam or Govt. Lobbyists.

Trust me, I know........

it's not an assumption. and weed can be taxed just as easily as tobacco can. the states where medical marjuana is legal, like here in az, it is taxed all to hell.

Because it's "cheating" in sports and the average person who knows nothing about roids, supps etc sees that coupled with that 1 news report a year of how steroids caused someone to chainsaw his son and then eat him for protein since his body wanted more protein while on steroids.

Haha idk what I just said.

Yes, along with DC, Michigan, New Jersey, California, those are just off the top of my head (i think theres 16 legal states?). Im saying that they WONT tax it in all the states, physically, the Government can do whatever the **** they want, if they wanted to tax it in all states then they would, im not saying that they CAN'T tax it, more like they WONT.

The United States spends billions of tax payers dollars fighting the so called “drug war” when there are so many more important issues at hand. I mean, let the people who want to smoke marijuana smoke marijuana peacefully, how is it bothering you? If the fact that you are not earning any tax dollars off illegal sales is bothersome, then just legalize it and tax it GODAMNT.

Ultimately, the reason the government does not want to legalize marijuana is because it would be impossible to prevent illegal sales even if it was legalized.

I believe that is the greatest reason that the government is hesitant in legalizing marijuana, otherwise, I believe, it would have been pushed forward long ago. Such a petty concern however, should not prevent the government from pursuing an action that will ultimately benefit the nation, because people will continue to use marijuana for leisure purposes, whether it be legally or illegally

if they ever legalized it Hawaii would have a better economic boost than what happened with Alaska when they found oil :)
