Weights up, scales down…

I don't water my yard either. It is simply not on my radar. When it stops raining I just cut it less, and it doesn't brown out so bad. So every 2 weeks normally and every 3 or so in a drought. Now my son pays to have it done so every 2 weeks regardless but when I was mowing it, if it was too dry or hot I wouldn't mow it and kill the grass even worse.

we are ironically one of the driest regions of the 48 states during the summer. about 4th of July to mid august or early sept is usually drought for us. This year, I learned how to throw a bunch of those spiked $10 sprinklers on a bluetooth timer with custom hoses I made (like a huge 500ft spool for $30-40) and I was able to create a poor mans built in sprinkler system. For our yard, I found that letting each of those 4 zones run for a few minutes every morning had almost no impact on my water bill, whereas I used to run one of the tractor style sprinklers on the weekends to "catch up" the water and I would definitely notice the increased water usage.

it's weird, I read a lot of different things on recommendations for how often and how much to water, and then I watch the golf courses and how they do it... I just find that a few minutes every morning seems to waste almost no water as far as my bill goes, but keeps the yard green!

it's become a real focus for me, I think Rocket would be proud lol. I'm learning slowly. Top seeded the whole backyard this year and really looking forward to next spring, gonna dethatch, aerate, bring in some sand and additional seed. it's a struggle with my wife's german shepard of course, but getting better.... (he's not a digger, just 100lbs of clutzy claws running all over)

Well today went along great… not. **** show all day at work.

The positives got all my meals in.

I will be next 4 days to get back in line.

Another really good session, pump was looking sick in the mirrors. Happy to see a drop this morning. Expected it with pulling calories slightly and carbs.

A great morning 💪🏻🙏🏻

And BOOM there you go! One down day, turn it around the next and have a killer session as a rebound. I've come to learn the back and forth like that will happen, and as long as we're staying consistent then the next will be just as good if not better.

na I believe it's a legit thing. My body is usually happiest between 180-190-ish lbs. Under 180 and I seem to be injury prone, but over that 190-200 I start to notice other side effects. When I dropped from 240 down to sub 200s I was honestly surprised at how I no longer had knee pain etc anymore. When I was heavier, a hike would leave my knees sore for days, I thought I had bad knees from playing catcher in baseball, but I almost never have knee soreness when my weight stays lower.

Yes I can tell on the knees as well. Also nice to just do everything and not be huffing and out of breath like I used to be 😂

For real, you seen the prices these days!
Yeah it’s no joke; very cheap shoes are $50 and the top stuff is $150+. I have found the cheap models within brands to last less than the flagship stuff, but the most expensive stuff doesn’t last long over cheap to justify the extra money - you only want those if the look or feel justifies the extra cost to you.

I always buy last years shoe models when they get heavily discounted with the incoming release of the new models.

I just bought some new running shoes again and most of the shoes I was looking at were on sale.

That, my shirts didn't fit right, even when I got new ones I could tell because my body shape changed, and being uncomfortable on airplanes were all pretty big contributors to my most recent cut. Plus everyone telling me how hard it is to lose weight all the sudden cause they're 30, or 40, or 50 or whatever lit a fire to prove to myself that I could still cut, lol.

Steps - 14,020

man, I only hit like 9500 even when I had an extra 30 min of liss and a 1 mile jog added, ha.

👆 this has been a great life hack for me. Since the Sauconys have been great for my feet it's been nice to pull up my last amazon order and find the older models for half or even 1/3 the new model price. Seems like the prudent move for me would be to buy 3 pairs of last years model and put two in the closet.

If you like Adidas or Nike, they will almost always put their newer releases on 30-40% off sales on less popular colorways around each holiday. I'm kind of a sneaker geek and have 15-20 pairs of Adidas trainers I've never paid close to retail on. There is also a legit eBay shop that has 50% off current styles a few times a year. I've snagged $250 Adipros for $110 multiple times.

alright so this is sorta funny. just checked a couple old amazon orders:

Saucony 8s, purchased 2016 $52 no longer available (not shocked)
Saucony Zealot ISO 3s purchased 2018 $66.41 now are $115
Saucony Cohesion 14s purchased Oct 2023 $45.31 are now $75.89

sorta surprised that the inflation has hit OLD shoes that hard.
although the Cohesion 16s are $44.95ea

That’s not inflation that’s just they aren’t produced anymore and aren’t really on sale they just revert back to retail a lot of times. Things will go on sale to clear out before new models then usually they just go back up even if they haven’t sold out.

Wake up time 4:30 am 1/2 scoopnedge of insanity, cup of coffee, pre workout shake.

Gym time 5 am-6:30 am

Warm ups stretching

high bar squat
215x8 x6
185x10

db Romanian deadlift
65#x12 x12
super set leg press

seated leg extension
120#x20 x15 x10

This session just completely gases me. Squats are feeling a lot better. The leg extensions are crazy pump city.

Another great session

Killing it!!!

yeah at this point I am thinking of just really prioritizing a couple gym based expenses for black friday. I almost never do any black friday shopping, but I'm betting that might be a good day to get some new shoes. Surely my abused feet can wait one more month...

The leg extensions are crazy pump city.

Love that feeling!

What kind of shoes are you guys using? I have some old ass under armor ones. About due for a new pair but have no clue.

I have gone through a couple pairs of ASICS now and they make some great cushy Dad shoes, even their cheap discounted models - especially if you have extra wide feet like me, they offer that as well. My last pair was under $60 on Amazon.

I just bought some Xero Prios I’ve been wearing the last few weeks to see how I respond to flat wide toebox shoes outside the gym, and I have been liking them so much I ordered a pair of their light trail shoes on clearance. I wore the Prios all day Monday, walked hours at the zoo and my feet stayed comfy throughout, which amazed me. Normally my feet get achey after a couple hours on them, as I have next to no arch.

Anyway, both brands make some cushy and flat shoes, respectively, in lots of models.

I swapped out my Reebok lifters for old school ristos years ago and loved them so much I've had them restored by the cobbler but stopped using heels so for the past few years I've switched to my Reebok LTs (flats, mark bell design) for pulls and squats, and my Sauconys for basically everything else.

But that's not the he first time I've seen Hyde talk about his ASICS so I might have to give a pair a try. I always call my Sauconys my "dads pads" when my wife and I are doing a walk that requires more heel padding than sandals lol. Farmers market, vacation, etc. They've been life changing since my plantar issues developed back in 2015.

ASICS make some great dad pads; that’s a perfect takeaway.

And I’m really impressed with the Xero stuff as far as feel, if you wanted a flat shoe for daily life.

Busy day today.
Check in this morning weighing it at 210.8. Things are going great and a big shoutout to @MrKleen73 his coaching has been impressive! Have made a ton of progress since utilizing his coaching. Almost down 18 pounds since the beginning.

Well today I got some truck maintenance done I’ve been needing to do. My old GMC was getting slow to fire when cranking. Changed out the spark plugs, fires up fast now. Also it was long over do for front and rear differential oil changes. So got that taken care of. I still need to change the transfer case but didn’t feel like it after the rest. Also I discovered I have a leaking axle seal. Going to have to get that later this year.

Then went out to the country and took a nice afternoon walk with the family, it was a nice day here. The wind finally quit it has been windy the last 4 days in a row.

Steps - (edit) 13,771 we went on a evening walk

Have a great day!

Yeah, it gets annoying when people won't hop off. Don't feel shy about asking people if you can work in with them. Most people will even if they are surprised that you ask.

So just curious anyone hear about this Jeff Nippard and Van Wyck thing? Seen a video but hard to tell what took place because all it showed was Van w. Catching nippard right in the throat.

My back was acting up this morning and so was my shoulder, took a while to get going

High bar squats
135 x8 back just wasn’t feeling right and didn’t want to proceed.

Some kind of cable squat thing
200# x10 x10
180# x12
There is no way it was equivalent to plate weight, but didn’t seem to bother my back

Db Romanian deads
50# x12 x12
Super set leg press
3 plates per side x15 x15 x10
4 plates per side x8

Seated leg curls
110#x15 x10

0% incline, 3.5-7.5 mph 10 minutes

Good autoregulation there - you can always come back to squat again next week if things feel better, but if you actually hurt your back you remove all chance to get back soon.
