more pimples and scalp inflammation, but still no thickening or growth

Correct...depending on what growth phase your follicles are in . Anagen state follicles should see a rapid increase in growth rate immediately, whereas other stages will either be slower to induce or the existing shaft will shed.
Immediate shedding means the follicle was likely in late stage telogen phase, and is shed in order to allow for the next follicle to enter growth phase.
This is an important point that helps explain why different users starting Virile Mane at the same time and at the same daily application(s) will see results at different points in time.
They were extremely patchy - with maybe 5-10 hairs in a square inch. It was also beginning to loop around to meet in the center, which would have left me with that ridiculous looking "horse tail" patch sticking right out the center.Dsade,
Were those areas with the new growth slick bald before? It's hard to tell from your very first photo posted much earlier in the thread, because of the heavy flash and the distance. Also, I don't mean to be paranoid, but I just read one of the side effects of L-Dopa is hair loss. Is this an actual ingredient in VM because my bottle doesn't have it listed.
Thanks
Should be fine, and I am actually very interested in your results in what you would consider non-balding areas. That is very strange, as I have seen the exact opposite. I have been on VM for 10 days and my scalp has never felt better and zero pimples on my scalp, which I would sometimes get when applying hairloss medications. Overall, like I said, much improved scalp health. My hair also looks more healthy.
Dsade, on a side note, I am applying VM all over my scalp including non-thinning areas. I would assume I would be ok with this? I'm shooting for thicker hair all over.

One of the things we are shooting for with this product is a Maintenance type product, to optimize hair condition and thickness BEFORE any problems are apparent.
dsade, I like VM's concept in using ingredients which have been shown to work on humans rather that just in test tubes, rodents and monkeys. Was there a specific reason you didn't want to include Ketokonazole in VM? As far as I know it has shown regrowth properties in humans via anti-inflammatory and anti-androgenic activity.
Thanks,
Some of the ingredients in VM are known to be anti-acne, so I would expect NONE at all.
That is boggling, honestly.
I think it would be best to use Keto in shampoo form, as opposed to leaving it on the scalp for an extended period of time imo. This is due to the """"potential"""" systematic impact it could have.
It's possible that you aren't rubbing it in well enough.dsade
hours after application of VM, if i take some toilet paper and slide it across my salp (shaved head), there is some brownish residue on the toilet paper....
does this mean the VM is not being absorbed?

I'm fairly new to this board (although 'well traveled' on other hairloss boards) and I I hope you give this product more than a month or two before evaluating its effectiveness (or lack thereof!). I know of no hairloss product which produces results in less than 3 months, and 6 months is a better barometer.

i guess im not the only one getting pimples on my scalp - particularly hairline....
whats this mean?
rammerman; said:but what about all the people who were reporting results within a few weeks???
I guess this product hasnt been released yet... but lucky me got a bottle for xmass... i have been using as the bottle directs after a shower and before bed... because it Dosnt say to use it in the morning .. i dont...instead... in the morning i have bean using the mens rogain foam. should i continue doing this?
Ive been using VM for about 3 or 4 weeks now. I am applying only in the high temple area - I have the start of a receding hairline.
Both my wife and I have definitely noticed small, fine hairs growing in along those areas of the hairline. Some are blondish but some are the same color as my hair - brown.
Very excited about this so far!!
Two things:
- Ive noticed my regrowth on one side as opposed to the other. I apply the same on both sides - should I increase amount on the lagging side? or will it just take a while for everything to catch up?
- I have read good things about Primordial Performance Toco 8 - especially in regards to hairloss. Can I take this while using VM?
Thanks
i would like to see some positive feedback on toco 8 users.
ihavent seen much though
it increase T. but lowers DHT? Does it increase possibilities of gyno, or baldness?
I'll have an update soon ( I have another batch of around 12 hairs on each side coming in).dsade..nothing new to report?
this thread really seems to be slowing down..hope its not forgotten about...i myself am waiting to report when and if i see visible {on camera} results
Yeah, that whole claim that Toco 8 helps regrow hair is kind of weak. The study that the claim is based on had some weaknesses ie sample size was low. Also, they don't really give much of an explanantion of HOW it actually might help regrow hair.
I still take it though, because it is good for you in a myriad of ways and it isn't too cost prohibitive.
But, I've been taking it for about 3 months and haven't noticed anything with (positive or negative) with regard to my hair.
Looks like 5000-6000iu is not out of the realm of ideal.Dosage recomendation?
Looks like 5000-6000iu is not out of the realm of ideal.
I have been timing my dosage to best correspond with when "natural man" would have had the most exposure to sun - between 10am and 2pm.
Grossly is the exact word for it.Yup.
I've read a lot about how the 400 IU 'daily recommended' allowance is grossly inadequate (particularly in the winter).
I am also still mulling over actual signals that might be involved in hair growth. Much like a winter coat in animals, something in summertime triggers the start of rapid acceleration of hair growth rate. By the time Winter comes around, then, the head of hair will be long and thick - to prevent heat loss. I believe Vitamin D synthesis to be inextricably tied in to this signalling process - as well as heat/temperature sensing nerves increasing IGF-1 synthesis.
Gasp is the vit D responsible for that fur pelt growing all over your body!! Hmmmm off to throw out the Vit D bottle!
You can have my vitamin D when you pry it from my cold, dead, hairy hands.
Besides, didn't you say that the Atomic Meltdown is SLOWING your hair growth on your legs, etc.?
