Virile Mane - Hair anyone?

It really looks like things are thickening up nice for you.
I'm extremely pleased.

I'll try to get another crown shot up as well...i'm now very self-conscious about it since it was pointed out, and have been focusing a lot on that area.

Thought you all might like to see the final label.

good label i can actually read the ingredients. Nice color scheme too.

Its just that if you can see results in one month, im sure there would of been alot more people posting stuff up here. And there were earlier, some saying shedding, and now regrowth or only possible regrowth.

Just like to hear, whats up with all those cats now in days who said "ya im starting to see little dots". And now what is it a little dark sprouted hair, or just dots.

so true

this is what happens with all hair products

when will we ever learn

"sigh"
Take it easy there, chief....I resent you implying what you are implying.

Photo Directions, as promised.

Hope this makes application easier to understand, cleaner, and eliminates waste:
Step 1: Hold the bottle and pose like a tool
Invalid Link Removed

Step two. Place the tip of the bottle at front of hairline.
Invalid Link Removed
Step three. Run tip backwards, creating a part. Hold the part open with other hand.

Invalid Link Removed

Step four. Keeping part open, run a THIN bead down part to scalp.
Invalid Link Removed

Step 5. Keeping part open, put down bottle and use finger to rub VM into scalp vigorously. SCALP, not hair - there should be no sticky mess in your hair.

Step six - don't be as messy as me when you have 45 kiddy presents to wrap and are rushed to get this photodirection up.

The product will not be apparent on the scalp if you rub it in for around 10-15 seconds.

After you do this part, move around 1/2" to the side and repeat until you have your entire scalp area covered (where you want to regrow, anyway) Amount of product used for a full application should be very small. This spreads VERY far on the skin.

first time poster here.

after following this thread i don't know why but something made me order your product. i am not one to go after just any hair regrowth products. i have never taken propecia, tried minoxidil for a month once then gave it up.

anyways ill get to the point. i decided to start off with using the java lustre shampoo to see how it is compared to the nioxin shampoo. first of all id like to say that contrary to what the users on this thread have claimed, it does not have a good lather at all. whatever is left on my hands, as i run it through my hair, i feel like there is nothing there. nioxin clearly has good lather. this also causes alot of my weak hair to break

also contrary to what the users here have said, after the second use, my hair looked absolutely retarded. the volume simply disappeared that i had after using nioxin. heck the nioxin volume stays in my hair even on a day that i don't shampoo. i try to shampoo every other day.

after second use i was not impressed by the java lustre and did not find to be true the claims of some of the users here given that my use of it was very minimal. perhaps i am missing something. this experience leads me to decide to stop using java lustre and be reluctant to even try virile mane.. i haven't tried it yet. i am nervous and i am sure you can understand.

I'm sorry you aren't pleased with the Java Lustre - the lack of lather was pointed out by me before release.

Nioxin uses Sodium Laureth Sulfate - a harsh detergent that I have tried to stay away from. I could have gone the cheap route and made a super-foaming product, but since lather does nothing effectivenesswise, I decided against it.

For ANY growth stimulation, the keystone product is the Virile Mane. The writeup covers the science behind the formula. The Shampoo is a SUPPORT product designed to optimize scalp conditions for maximum effectiveness OF the Virile Mane.

You guys really weren't kidding about how long a bottle of VM last, I having been using it for 5 weeks now and I have a lot still left in my first bottle. I haven't noticed regrowth yet but I have noticed a thickening in the hairs where I apply VM, also the hair itself just seems healthier all together.

I haven't seen a single post where anyone has said that the Java lustre lathers up well... I suggest you go back and read them again. The only thing I have seen is someone mention if you mix it with a bit of "x" shampoo then it lathers up fine if that is what you are after...

I've got used to it not lathering up, leaves my hair soft and healthy looking... wouldn't say especially "volumising" though. It's a perfectly good shampoo imo, does the job. If it helps with hair then happy days.

As for my experiences on VM, I believe my shedding has started to return to a more normal rate. I have had quite a few hairs come through, looking at my hair line i can see several shorter hairs which are coming through quite thick, and a few forward of the rest of the hairline. I think overall I'm in about the same place despite the shedding... which suggests there has been new growth coming through to replace the shed hairs... In another week or two i'll be taking my 2 month update pic and I'll see for sure how it's gone so far. I'm thinking for me personally, if this shed has now truly died down, months 2-3 might show some good improvements.

Be patient, I would suggest you don't write this product off before giving it a good chance for feedback to come through. Despite any claims, in my opinion it will take TIME to see a real, tangible cosmetic improvement in most people.

I am however convinced enough by it that I intend to give it a good 6 month run at least, the fact that I have hairs infront of the hairline which even the combo of minox and fin hadn't booted into life gives me good expectations for the rest.

my review is much along the lines of Flyboys' in that I have been using VM for over 7 weeks now and though I did not see an increase in shedding I have already noticed some regrowth......is it amazing? No but it is noticable to myself and those around me (a friend and also my girl both noted it looked fuller in the hair line). So over all I am impressed enough to continue running the product for the next 4 to 5 months and then evaluate what progress I have made at that point. Hair regrowth is not a fast process.

Mr.50

I have only been using VM for about a week, but my hair seems much healthier and fuller. My girlfriend pointed this out to me last night and has no idea that I'm using any product at all.

I have also started applying VM sparingly in the morning as I find that it is cosmetically friendly. This is along with applying the VM more heavily at night. Leaves a little grease to the hair, but not bad at all.

I agree with most others that the shampoo is not fantastic. It does however leave my hair quite soft. I find Revita to be a much better thickening/volumizing shampoo on a whole. I usually shampoo with the Java shampoo and follow this with an application of Revita.

It has been about 2 weeks for me. I am applying twice a day. I feel like I am shedding just as much as before I used the product and my hair seems a little more thin..

I hope I will be able to see some kind of positive result after a month.. Right now I am using VM and feverfew extract(topical anti-inflammatory).

I do still have relatively thick hair so it is definitely difficult to keep most of the vm on just the scalp.. The scent also lasts a lot longer due to more being in my hair as well as the greasiness factor being somewhat of a nuisance.. I'm using 2 half-pea sized dots for the front of my hairline and then I part my hair 4-5 times and use thin lines and rub it in as per the directions given by dsade. Sometimes I don't know if Im applying to much or to little...

Anyways, I will keep you guys updated..

Have only been using VM a brief time, but the big drawback for me is the color. My hair is a darkening platinum - but not so dark that VM doesn't color my hair quite obviously: when my GF/SO came over on Wednesday, her FIRST remark was "What happened to your hair?" Really puts the kibosh on morning / daytime applications.

That said, thickness and 'coverage' are up noticeably already - much better / faster results than from my spiro / minox use (which I have not used in months). No 'old-hair' fallout, either.

Looks like another winner in a ling line of winners...

btw, buffalo, are you using any other products besides vm? Thanks.

I was using Adenogen, but have stopped using it. So now I am only using VM. I do take about 320 mg of saw palmetto and another vitamin called vitacel 9. I also use Revita and the Java shampoo and that is it.

Hi!

I just started using Virile Mane and Java Lustre, will try to get some photos up soon so we can track any progress! :)

But, Dsade, quick question:

I have a bottle of Dr. Pickarts Hair Signals standing here, as I bought it right before Virile Mane was released, could I combine it with Virile Mane? I was thinking of applying Virile Mane morning and evenings, but use Hair Signals instead of Virile Mane every 3rd evening.

Do you think this will work out, or is there anything in Hair Signals that might be antagonistic to the ingredients in Virile Mane? The ingredients for Hair Signals are:

Water, aloe vera gel, copper peptides (soy protein peptides and cupric chloride), PEG 100 strearate, germaben II-E, tea extract, beta-sitosterol, saw palmetto oil, lavender oil, pygeum africanum, polysorbate 80, polysorbate 20, allantoin, vitamin E TPGS.

Thanks for bringing this kick-ass product to market! :)

My pleasure my friend.

Hair Signal doesn't look to contain anything directly antagonistic. The PEG100 Stearate MIGHT hinder absorption slightly - but looking at the order of ingredients it doesn't appear to be a dominant portion of the carrier. The copper peptides should help as well.

Awesome thread, my hair is just starting to thin I think. My family goes bald young and I love my hair. I will def be trying this out.

dsade..thank you for the pics concerning the application because a major concern for me is: 1. using to much or 2. using to little..
currently i'm applying 1x a day before bed around a 1/2 hour after applying Nanominox..i only apply 1x a day because the concensus still seems to be out on whether or 2x is better..and the 1x time a day ghas produced results for some users..
is there a way to send you pics of my application so that you could actually see for yourself just how much i'm applying? thank you

I was hoping they would help, even though they were a bit rushed.

If you send pics to mpearson at recomp dot com I can take a look at how much you are using and let you know how to adjust.

Great to catch it early, honestly...please keep us updated.

Hi Dsade,

I'm applying 1.5mL to 2mL once a day. Is that too much?
around 1.5mL a day should be plenty unless you are completely bald and trying to cover entire scalp.

DSADE,

I have a question I have been meaning to ask.......

Is the duration of time it takes to see results with VM at all influenced by what phase of growth the hair is in when application of VM begins?

Mr.50

Dsade-is Java Lustre Conditioner still planned for early Jan?Gonna need some more JavaLustre soon, and really lookin forward to completing the hair stack with it.Seen u posted some of whats gonna be in it on another site, looking awesome!

I have been using VM for 2 weeks now. It has thicken up my hair in this short period of time. But these past 3 days, I have been feeling extremely tired and "foggy". Anybody else feel this way? I read L-Dopa can cause this...

Hi all, first time poster!

I used VM and JL for the first time today! It's a scam, it's been about 8 hrs since application and no hairs are sprouting out! I'm giving it till tomorrow morning!

Impressions:
VM: I don't see any flakes as other users have reported; it's a pretty consistent product. The smell is ok. I like the way my scalp feels after application.

JL: Doesn't lather up as much as I would like it to, (maybe I'm not using enough?). Not a problem at all though as I'm very picky in following with a volumizing shampoo anyway (due to my thin hair). I really like the sensation after rinsing JL out.

I will report my progress.

1 question: perhaps it was answered already, but I can't find it: how long do I need to leave VM on my scalp? (before washing my hair)

Thanks

Also, right after I apply it, I notice my lungs seem congested and I begin to wheeze a little like I have asthma. Any ideas?

dude this is not a mirical product your not gonna apply it b4 bed go to sleep and wake up in the morning with a full head of hair ive been using VM and JL for about 4 weeks and i see little thin hairs sprouting and growing its been said that it could take up to 3-4 months to start seeing results

Yes, I was being sarcastic; I added the smiley to make it even more obvious, just in case.

Happy New Year and Happy New Growth :afro: to all

dsade

im the guy applying VM 2x a day on my right side and 1x a day on my left....

i have gotten 4-5 pimples, fairly noticeable, on the left side of my scalp but none on the right....

can you think of any possible reason for this? if anything, i would have expected it to be the other way around

i assume he's referring to trying to cover the whole scalp area as opposed to just the hairline and vertex for example.

I've actually ended up using this once a day pretty much all over the top of my head, approaching 2 months now and there's still a fair amount left in my first bottle. I imagine it'll easily run 2.5 months and maybe more... impressive given a bottle of xandrox (60ml) gets used up in about 25 days for me with a similar application.

Some of the ingredients in VM are known to be anti-acne, so I would expect NONE at all.

That is boggling, honestly.

Correct. If you are applying per the visual instructions, then smaller area of scalp will require less.

Full baldness would require more product, obviously.

DSADE,

Not sure if I missed it but I was wondering if you had time to answer my question above.......is how quickly you see results from VM based on what phase of growth your hair is in when you begin using VM?

Sorry, missed it.

Correct...depending on what growth phase your follicles are in . Anagen state follicles should see a rapid increase in growth rate immediately, whereas other stages will either be slower to induce or the existing shaft will shed.

Immediate shedding means the follicle was likely in late stage telogen phase, and is shed in order to allow for the next follicle to enter growth phase.

Ah excellent. This is sort of what I was expecting. Good to hear beacuse my progress was slow at first but seems to be picking up now.....

Mine slowed down as well - though the new hairs have continued growing at a scary pace. Now looking (and I am applying 2x a day) I am getting another batch of new growth coming in. I'll wait another few days and update the pictures.

Actually, just snapped more pics for kicks (Pics for Kics?) and I realized that the newest growth is finally visible on camera - so here it is. The newest blond hairs are not yet showing, but the ones that ARE were light blond about a week ago, which means the color deposition is working.

EDIT: I am extremely happy so far with my results - and tomorrow marks 2 months exactly.

dsade

can you please circle new growth

I'm pretty much photoeditor retarded (and I would lose all the resolution if I used my label program) but the new growth is all around 1/8 long. Maybe I just know what I'm looking for, but it sticks out pretty clearly to me.

If you guys truly need circles added, I can send the pics to my graphics guy to manipulate without losing resolution. Or if anyone here haz the skillz?
