I swear though people in my gym ask me all the time what do you do for your abs and I tell them and they look at me like I'm lying, sometimes they accuse me outright. Usually the ab question is followed by the how my cardio do you do? I say none and they get pissed lol

Yep diet is the cornerstone, I say I do not do cardio, and I do not in the classical sense. I work out with minimal rest between sets. Even when working smaller muscle groups my heart is pounding and I am out of breath because of the intensity and lack of rest. On leg days I sometime throw up for the same reason, the intensity and minimal rest. So I kinda sorta turn my workout into cardio. But ass kicking muscle building cardio, not wussy walking on the treadmill watching the tv cardio :thumbsup:

Don't delete your account, lol In all seriousness,there is so much misinformation out there it took me a good 20 years to sort through it and find what truly(no pun intended) works, I'm giving you the benefits of my trial and error, mostly error, for free....Unless you'd like to pay me....in which case I take cash lol The secret is to work out smarter and harder but not necessarily more. The Truth About Abs

I learned the truth about abs a long time ago, in a gym in Marietta a real gym a man's gym Cagle's Gym, it smelled like iron rust and blood. It was filled with grunting dedicated beasts serious body builders and power lifters. Not a speck of visible chrome, I was a scrawny 175 pound 23 year old Trying to get big like my hero Arnold, and no clue on how to do it. I was doing endless crunches when this massively ripped dude said What the F' are you doing I said "Abs" He said "****ing no your not, all your working are your Goddamn hip flexors," I had labored for years under the impression that the way to a six pack was lots and lots of crunches sit ups and leg raises. I had a line down the center of my stomach so I had a two pack. He told me that I was never going to get ripped abs like that He told me to look at the Guiness Book of World Records and look at the word record holder for sit ups. Next time I was at the Mall I did just that and was amazed the guy could do like 2000 sit ups and had a jelly belly. I went back to the gym and asked for his help and this is when I learned the truth about abs and why almost everyone works them the wrong way.

Your abs are like any other muscle, they work hard all day holding up your torso and holding in your guts. So to get them to grow you have to challenge them. But even that is not the key. Even fat guys have abs you just cant see them. Every one reading this has same thing. You have to cut the fat to see the abs. Endless ab work is not going give you visible abs its very poor at fat burning so don't do it. Work large muscle groups intensely that burns fat. Diet, you won't ever see your abs if you don't have a good diet, gotta get the body fat in the very low double digits leaning into the singles. That is step one. Now the much sought after and vaunted Truth's Ab program, Hold onto your jock cuz' your gonna be shocked here it comes.

1 Decline ab chair/bench(in my early bb days they called it a roman chair,
Sets = 2 yes that's right 2 x failure

2. Ab coaster 2 sets to failure each side if you do not have an ab coaster I do oblique crunches on the ab ball 2 sets to failure both sides

That's it take 4- 5 minutes and you've seen my abs it works and I only do this routine 3-4 times a week tops

Now there will be a lot of doubters but I swear to God that's all I do.

Ok.... but this is how I do those sets, On the ab bench, put a foam block under the leg end to make the angle as steep as possible.
I go very slow, the tendency is to go fast and furious with plenty of momentum. I use no momentum, Very slow. The other tendency is to use your hip flexors to pull your body up and your body comes up straight. When you are coming up think about driving your ribs into your abs Curl your body into as much of an arc as you can, and when you get to the top, unroll down as slow as your rolled up. If your can do more than 30 you are not going slow enough, at the end of your second set they will be burning like fire.

On the ab coaster, people that just go fast and furious get nothing out of that, I turn it to the side, as I use it to work the obliques, Same thing slow up and hold it, slow down, the switch sides and do the same for the other side. I load it with 3 ten pounders a side. If you do not have access any machine you can set for the obliques will work, just use enough weight to make it challenging at 20 reps and go as slow as possible. The total routine if you can call it that is five minutes. In the summer I do a set of hanging leg raises, again slow and controlled just to get the "money maker a little more chiseled.

I know you are disappointed but you shouldn't be, look at all the time I'm saving you. Remember its time under tension that builds muscles, you want added resistance and you want added time. Your abs receive work all day over training them only stunts the growth. Actually let me lay to rest a little misconception. The abs are really a sheet of muscle, the cuts you see are caused by tendons that lay across the sheet and the sheet bulges around the tendons giving the impression of separate muscles. You want the muscle to grow so it will bulge around the tendons more. What builds muscle size? endless reps and sets? No just like other muscles fewer more intense sets with higher weight gives maximum growth, just like a bicep.

So there you go, my closely guarded secret just cuz' I like you guys. lol

So I must tell you all, I actually workout at the same gym as Truth and I can attest to the fact that he really does do ONLY 5 MINUTES of abs!!! CRAZY! I was jealous at first, cause I used to be one of those people that did abs every day for like 15 minutes, but he demonstrated to me all of his secrets and you know what THEY WORK!!! Focusing on the contraction of the abs while performing the exercise is really the most important thing. Fast, jerky movements just don't work for abs. Listen to what this man has to say and I promise you will see results! Btw, in case you were unaware, TRUTH is BADASS. I call him Superman! He works out so much harder than the rest of them wannabe bodybuilders in the gym and he can pretty much answer any question related to working out that you want to know. Intelligent mofo.
 
Glad the log helped, there is a lot of good information in here, also make sure to take the Ursobolic with a good about of fat 6-12 grams

I'm starting at 6/day and may up it after a week if I don't notice a difference. Why would the bottle recommend 3-6/day if it seems that you need to dose 6-12+ to yield results? That high dosage doesn't yield long product duration lol.

I was on a strength program... but now I might have to lower the intensity a bit cause my goals switched to cut... MrKleen (a poster here) put up a challenge to unwrap your abs by xmas... Im thinking I want abs more than I want to be huge now... Well more like I like competition and this seems like a good thing. My urso should be ordered by black friday and added to my stack for the ending 3-4 weeks. Probably continue it all the way into the new year... maybe my goal will be to hit Hawaii shredded in february....? Hehe...but if I cut down now I think at around 9% bf Ill be around 175lbs... im gonna be so small.. I like being at least 185+

He suggested 9 caps here on the forum i believe. He himself dosed it via the powder and just shot the stuff as much as he wanted.

Today I started operation rehab,i.e. Lets get through this injury with as little muscle loss as possible.

Back and Bi's:

Started on the Freemotion Lat pull down see below

I used the right hand only. I worked up to 120 for 5 sets of 20


Then I moved to the Nautilus plate loaded pull down machine loaded 2 45's on the right and got a set of 20 added a quarter and got 15 added yet another 45 for 5 sets of twelve.

Moved to the Nautilus Plate loaded seated unilateral row machine. Loaded up three 45's and cranked out 5 sets of 12. That ends the one handed part of my workout.

Biceps: Cannot do free weights as that is what aggravates my injury the most , curls, so started with the seated plate loaded preacher machine. 2 45's and a 10 3 sets of twelve. 2 45's and 2 10's 3 sets of 8, then back down to 2 45's only for 3 sets of 10
Did the Atlantis seated curl machine for 5 sets of 10 with 80 on the stack and the seated Freemotion curl machine for 5 sets of 10 at 90lbs on the stack. Biceps are fried and pumped! Yay! one bright spot in my dismay. Did the "Truth About Ab's Routine" and was done

Observations:

I am not happy about my injury situation. I was making good gains and BAM!! injury! It sux. But the Truth never rests. I did a one sided back workout. Why? Because now when my injury heals I'll only have to bring one side up not both. I attempted a couple of very light pull downs with the left side but there was discomfort so I ceased and desisted. The Truth has gotten smarter in his old age. The old me(or young me depends on how you view it) would have pushed on with the injured side until it was wrecked beyond repair. Not this time listening to half of what the doctor said. Not staying out of the gym completely for a month, no way no how! I cannot push my back even on the right as I don't want to induce too much of an imbalance between the left and the right side. I am just trying to maintain what I have not build any extra. I probably...definitely did too much bicep work, hey I needed something to hammer, to push hard on to go all out to feel like me. They are cramping at the present. It makes me smile.

It looks like I'll now be using Ursobolic in the manner of the Iowa study... to prevent muscle wasting. Lets see if it can preserve the Truth. I hope so. I was very depressed at the start of my workout G put things in perspective and I killed it at the end. Thanks G
 
At least you can hit the weights. Put ursobolic to the test!!

I'll be cutting. From Monday I'll be eating pretty much your diet minus gluten/gut irritating foods and see how I respond then add in the ursobolic and see what happens. (of course I'm running other things but I'm not someone who usually only runs one thing... Ever)

Work Out:

Despite my injury I am able to do pressing movements with little discomfort. In the interest of safety I opted for machines this evening. I was stoke gym was pretty much empty, here we go

Chest:
FreMotion chest press, this machine looks a lot like the pic of the pull down machine in my last workout post but the arms ar lower and you face the opposite way. It allows for great contraction as you have free range of motion and you can bring your hands together at the top.
Did my work up sets and then progressed to working sets, the following numbers are per side. 80 x 15, 90 x 15, 100x12 x 3 120x8 x3

Plate loaded incline bench press machine 2 wheels and a quarter per side 6 sets x 12
I did not do cable flies as they aggravate my injury. Chest was totally pumped so no big loss

Shoulders:
Love overhead DB presses but too much to chance on those regarding the rotator cuff. Did hammer strength shoulder press went up to 120 per side 3 sets x 8
Machine side laterals: 3 x 85 x12
Stopped it there could have done more. Erred on the side of caution....its a maturity think too bad it too me 46 years to get there lol

Tricep:
Nose breaker simulator- was feeling good took it 10 lbs higher than ever before and got 8 reps x3 dropped back down and got 3 more sets for twelve. Moved to seated dip machine took it to 230 for sets of 10x5 Then on to cable pushdowns, went to the bottom of the stack for eight x 4, then added 10 lbs as my elbows are feeling so much better and got did drop sets down to 70 triceps feel like over inflated balloons, I like it.

Observations: Looked in the mirror this morning and thought I looked big. I suffer from body dysmorphic disorder, don't laugh its true. So usually when I look in the mirror I see barely average. This morning I thought Damn, I look like I move some Iron. Had a rough time getting started this morning have been staying up late informing you mooks lol and I have a bit of a cold. Once I got rolling I was good. Went to the mall looking for some jeans bought a griddle go figure, now I can prepare massive quantities of chicken and meat at one time...makes me happy. While at the mall passing teenage boys commented a couple of times ranging from "Man you are huge" (at 204 I am certainly not) and "dude you are swole" I'll take that one, I felt pretty swole :) I looked in the mirror objectively when I got home. I am definitely thicker and fuller. I am always vascular but I appear more so even with the calorie surplus I am still lean. I am only going to back my calories off a tad. My injury is going to stop me from properly working my back, but I seem on line with everything else. Makes me happy makes me smile, if Ursobolic can help not lose my lats through rehab I'll bake PA a Damn cake and send it, lol. It was a good day and I am still loving this stuff

Scivation and yes there is a a good reason, I got it dirt cheap lol. Until PA brings GF PRO Blueberry back my two main factors in protein purchase is number one, price, number two, taste. GF Pro was so delicious it made me overlook the price part :P

Still eating above maintenance, lots above. Its weird but I am starting to crave my clean diet. With the occasional cheat (Greek Pastry and what not) Instead of cheating all the time, Yes Mattrag, I know to you my cheating isn't cheating lol. My daughter is coming to visit a week from Wednesday and I want to give myself a little extra room as, I like to cook for her and I cook whatever she wants regardless of the calorie damage. I am southern so Biscuits, gravy, Grits, Sausage, Chicken and dumplings stuff like that good old fattening comfort food. I am also making my famous New York style cheese cake, I kid you not it weighs 6 pounds, I've weighed it. I figured out the calorie count one year but have since chosen to forget.

I am thicker in the pec's a lot thicker. Especially my upper pecs where I have concentrated for the last couple weeks. I am thinking the muscle building properties of ursolic acid are becoming apparent, I feel bigger, makes me wonder what this stuff would be like in a bulk instead of a cut Hmmmmm the great big Truth perhaps.....perhaps

So I am going to be eating a bit less. And I'm going to weigh and measure EVERYTHING again. I thought I could say goodbye to the life of weighing and planning out every day... but I wanna get lean so it's happening. haha.

BTW, any other supps you recommend for a cut/health? Gonna upload some pics tonight (I hope) in my log, and will be running an 8 week all out cut... (xmas date is the target), then continue to cut till I go home in february. Look great, then eat!!! hahah

I feel the fat coming on too and I get worried... hell im looking pretty plump now... though I think a lot of it is water retention from the transdermal DHEA but... but hey with that extra help I should be able to recover while being in a calorie deficit ;).

Wow, I just got done reading all 22 pages. All I can say is SUBBED. This has been a very interesting log thus far. I am presently taking Anebeta, Phytoserms 347 and DAA. This sounds like it woulb be a very nice addition to my stack, esp at nine caps a day. I am running this cycle for 8 weeks and I am only five days in, so it would be perfect to get this and add it in now while I can. Awesome..I will continue to follow and look forward to even more results..SJ

Shoulder is feeling better, makes me think that it is badly strained and not torn. I am still gonna rest it for at least two weeks, the only work out that it affects to the point of making it no fun is back and bi's. I can work my bi's pretty well if the backs of my arm is supported. chest I can work with machines. Triceps too. Back thanks to the unilateral machines I can get a good one sided back work out but the left..... oh well. I'm not gonna complain it could be worse.

43 grams peanuts
Muscle Milk Bar

Afternoon:
50 grams whey protein
30 grams oat starch

Mid afternoon:

Two Muscle Milk light bars

Pre workout/ intra workout:

1 Serving Purple Wrath

Post Work out:
50 grams whey
30 grams oat starch

Dinner:
200 grams grilled chicken
1 whole wheat pita
20 grams feta cheese
30 grams grilled pepper and onions


Snack:
1/2 cup Natty Peanut Butter(over did it but hey its leg day
40 grams Dark Chocolate
1 cup Whole Wheat pita chips

Pre Bed:
1 cup fiber one and 1 cup whole milk

Work Out:

Legs:
High rep Squats warmed up with 135 x 20, then 225 x 20 x 5, 275 x 12 x 1 315 x 8 x 2

Lunges: !35 x 15 x 6

Leg press: 8 wheels x 20 10 wheels x 15 12 wheels x 12 10 wheel 3 x 15( quads are on beyond torched ow, ow and OW!!

Leg extensions 150 4 sets of 20

Standing leg curls: 90 per leg x 15 x 4

Standing calve raises abs and done

Observations: Was strong today, work was hell and I was stressed out. Usually that makes me too tired for a proper leg day. But today I felt good and hey no hindrances to my workout. No worries about doing something stupid to the shoulder. I am probably going to back off my calories for the next seven days. As I said before my daughter is coming to visit and I love to cook and while she's here I intend to eat. Cheat day? look out for cheat week!! I'll try not to post too many delicious descriptions as I know Mattrag is starting his cut. Ursobolic is still doing its thing keeping me lean and also building me up I don't know how I can weigh the same thing 204 and look so much thicker. I like it though. I like it a lot

Update for me: At this point, I'm stopping use of ursobolic after 2.5 weeks at 9 caps per day. I have nearly 100% appetite suppression, which I find weird and disturbing. And I've seen no actual reduction in waist fat or any increase in muscle. I've kept my diet as it has always been (which is good, no processed food, fruits/vegetables and grains, and limited meat, with lots of nuts, eggs, and chia seed pudding) and workouts have been pretty good.. So, maybe just not working for me (we are all different biochemically). I just really do not like the appetite suppression issue...just does not seem normal to me.

I have only minimal appetite suppression like you said every ones body is different. Sorry you didn't see the results you wanted
