Just checking. Sometimes I forget that I have user options that members don't. Sometimes I forget which ones you have and don't.

Personally (note: this is my opinion as a member) I would like to see reps represent valid, credible contributions (safe, responsible, sound, healthy, etc.) as apposed to what they are now. Some youngin' comes in and sees those reps and assumes that he can ask a guy for advice because he has so much rep. He can ask, and he will get it, but...

Reputation and credibility are not mutually exclusive.
 
B, bobo is updating the system right ? ? cause many features arent working now like to add a pic to a advanced reply i click on it and it opens anew window to reply in same happens with the link insertion thing, and the add email thing
 
He is busy doing stuff that I am not in the loop on sometimes. He does the TRUE administrative/webmaster stuff. I serve more as a lawman and he is more the IT guy. So he may or may not be doing what you mentioned. I know there were some gliches with the last upgrade, but like all, or most, he has a family and personal time as well. I am sure he has intentions to do what he can when he can.

Personally I have helped many many people with all kinds of questions..through Pm's mostly and those never get seen by the viewing public. I think it's bull-sh*t to say just cause someone has alot of rep points that they dont give solid advice. I see people with low reps give RETARDED advice.

Neg reps will make this place like BB.com and i do not want to see that happen. I help soooo many people thru PM that like Trip says, goes without notice. I like the REP system we have. It sets us apart from that other board that i cannot stand.

You are misunderstanding what I am saying and mixing being helpful and reputation points.

I can see everyones rep comments if I chose to. So, I know that the reps do not reflect a helpful and valuable post.

What you do in PM is another issue entirely.
 
I like the idea of neg reps. I honestly appreciate the feedback on my posts. So if someone negs me for bad info it will alert me to either look into what I am saying more or clarify/further explain my point.

If someone negs me just to be a dickhead, then so be it I could care less about the rep points anyways. The feedback is more important imho.

And I agree with Tripnasty that a lot of help is done through PM's on this board.
 
I personally like the board the way that it is, that's why I payed money to become a Gold Member, after first paying to be Board Supporter. If the board changes and add's Neg points like BB, I'm out.

That is the ideal way it should be used both positively and negatively. As I mentioned before I don't do the IT side of the board, but if there were an option, I would like to see reps be linked to that posts, so other members would be able to see what this reputation is supported by as opposed to the popularity and rep whoring that it is now.

Another cool option could be that neg reps drop off (either after time or a certain number of posts reps or something) sort of like points drop of your DMV record :)

Really I don't care either way about mine but for those who do it would be nice if the system had an integrity (a value based system) as opposed to the popularity or the bro repping that it currently is.
 
Btw, if Bobo is watching my two biggest wishes for AM would be the multi-quote and Chat forum working... Those'd be saaaweeeet.

I voted no on the negs. For one nobody gets hurt by how many rep points you have but it does feel bad to get negged. It adds drama and fighting to a board and it has nothing to do with bodybuilding. As well as if you get advice from someone you have the responsibility to look up their advice and take responsibility for your choices.

I never blindly follow supplement or steroid advice with out checking on the credibility of the advice.
 
You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to crader again.

I'm assuming the negs work the same as + reps do in that the neg a person hits you with it x% of their current reps. so it only would "hurt" if its from someone who has high reps.

Maybe the rep system in general would be just as well dropped entirely? and just allow for comments, not points + crowns?
 
having to spread the reps around helps this though. I hit just as many people outside of the group as I do in.

I'm not even talking about being hurt in a crown point value. I'm talking about causing anger and discord on the boards. And as a rep now I would think you would want a board that gets along.

It makes no sense to worry about people taking the positive reps to mean your advice is stellar among other posters.

If it goes in your body you should do a google search on ANY advice you get to fully understand what you are taking.
 
yeah it will result in people negging even excellent posts just because they are holding a grudge against the person for being negged by them before... Thats not what AM is about. This place is supposed to be different. And Better.

oh for sure I do, but I mean like anything else we should be adults and take what we get as to where it comes from. I guess most of my prior experience in forums comes from places where swinging your e-d!ck around doesn't happen much (corvette forums, a/v system forums). But then again I don't recall those having rep systems at all...

Well that would work if everyone could be adult, but through history we no its not that way. I see it all the time on bb.com, I don't go there unless I have to because of it. People do it just to hurt people and use them to stone new people into not posting.
