Top 20 Zombie Films

This is something I know quite a few of us are into. CNizz and myself especially.

What do you guys think of the list? And how many have you actually seen?
 
I've only seen 10 myself.

9. 28 DAYS LATER (2002)
10. DEAD ALIVE/BRAIN DEAD (1992)
12. PET SEMATARY (1989)
16. DAY OF THE DEAD (1985)

I'd like to see Army of Darkness on the list, cuz it's defintely my favorite.
 
Maybe it missed the list because of the fact it was a lot more comedy...Well no, Shaun is there. AoD was a great movie. Shop smart, shop S-Mart!
 
It's hard watching some of those older films. I think the earliest of horror movies that I've seen are about 98' ish. Awhile ago I was going to watch some really old early versions of Freddy Kruger and Jason movies, but the lack of technological advancements in the cinematography was too much to bear. Not to mention the props they used were very basic back then. I wish I could get past that but I find it becomes a huge distraction. I think I am too spoiled by the new computer graphics and advancements in props for the movies today.
 
Nice list - I've only seen 8 of them, but it looks like my Netflix list is going to get changed pretty soon! :D

I would have included the Dawn of the Dead, Land of the Dead and so on remakes that came out recently. I thought that they deserved some merit. But I am glad to see that they included Shaun of the Dead - an hilarious movie that turns out quite serious at some points. That one is definitely in my top 10.
 
TD, dawn of the dead is on there...just the original.

Reaper, it's definitely an aquired taste. I personally love B-Horror flicks, which is a genre most of these fall into. In the end I think its some of the best entertainment out there...I mean I don't watch them to get scared.
 
B movies are the best. It's like watching highschool football. They try so damn hard so it makes it more enjoyable to watch, even though they never put out the numbers of the pros.
 
Great list, glad they put the original Dawn of the Dead and Shaun of the Dead. Return of the Living Dead was great. Except for the first 5 Ive been lucky enough to catch the rest. A good zombie movie is such a entertaining film to enjoy at the movie theaters.

I'm just hoping I can get the taste of 28 Weeks Later out of my mouth with a solid showing by I am Legend.
 
I like 28 days, 28 weeks was horrible though.

...I'm excited for I am Legend but the directors credits kinda scare me.
 
I've got army of darkness on HDDVD. spectacular movie. "Its a trick, get an axe"

not 100% related, but Dead Rising on the xbox 360 is the best zombie game ever.
 
Great list but there are some I wouldnt have included and others that no list should be without!

Movies I would remove:
Night of the Comet (Boring, ok effects, very dated)
Versus (VERY cult, not well known, top 20??)
Plan 9 (this movie is #1 for cheesy B-movies but shouldnt be a top zombie flick)

Honestly the straight violence does not appeal to me like Texas Chainsaw Massacre and other movies along those lines.


These are the movies that really scared me that I can think off the top of my head, and I mean REALLY freaked me out.

-The Ring and The Ring 2
-The Grudge
-IT by stephen king


SAW, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, 28 Days later, stuff like that are more of action flicks to me vs. genuine 'horror'.

The US versions of The Ring and The Grudge were horrible. I enjoyed the Japanese versions, but their domestic counterparts were lackluster n comparison.
 
28 days later was an awesome take on the zombie genre...and the human condition on the whole...

...way more than just an action flick.
 
I've seen 11 on the list. Lucio Fulci's ZOMBIE (aka ZOMBI 2) was a sweet film I thought (even though my favorite Zombie film is probably Day of the Dead). Zombie vs. Shark?!?! How badass.

I hear you bro. I love watching B-Horror movies. Off the top of my head, Twisted Nightmare comes to mind. It was awesome. There is actually a company that is redistributing old B-Horror movies on DVD. I'll try to remember the film company.
 
a couple top notch companies putting out B-movies are Blue Underground, Anchor Bay, ShriekShow, Something Weird, VCI, all do great transfers with fully uncut dvds

Fulci has some awesome movies. Him and Argento are 2 of my favorite directors.
 
Argento is my all time favorite, Bava is in a close second since much of his use of color and style was adapted by Argento. Got to hand it to Fulci though, no one handles gore like the man himself!
