When even the Atlantic is calling out libs, you know the house of cards is tumbling.

The Liberals Who Can’t Quit Lockdown
Progressive communities have been home to some of the fiercest battles over COVID-19 policies, and some liberal policy makers have left scientific evidence behind.

Lurking among the jubilant americans venturing back out to bars and planning their summer-wedding travel is a different group: liberals who aren’t quite ready to let go of pandemic restrictions. For this subset, diligence against COVID-19 remains an expression of political identity—even when that means overestimating the disease’s risks or setting limits far more strict than what public-health guidelines permit. In surveys, Democrats express more worry about the pandemic than Republicans do. People who describe themselves as “very liberal” are distinctly anxious. This spring, after the vaccine rollout had started, a third of very liberal people were “very concerned” about becoming seriously ill from COVID-19, compared with a quarter of both liberals and moderates, according to a study conducted by the University of North Carolina political scientist Marc Hetherington. And 43 percent of very liberal respondents believed that getting the coronavirus would have a “very bad” effect on their life, compared with a third of liberals and moderates.

Last year, when the pandemic was raging and scientists and public-health officials were still trying to understand how the virus spread, extreme care was warranted. People all over the country made enormous sacrifices—rescheduling weddings, missing funerals, canceling graduations, avoiding the family members they love—to protect others. Some conservatives refused to wear masks or stay home, because of skepticism about the severity of the disease or a refusal to give up their freedoms. But this is a different story, about progressives who stressed the scientific evidence, and then veered away from it.

For many progressives, extreme vigilance was in part about opposing Donald Trump.
Some of this reaction was born of deeply felt frustration with how he handled the pandemic. It could also be knee-jerk. “If he said, ‘Keep schools open,’ then, well, we’re going to do everything in our power to keep schools closed,” Monica Gandhi, a professor of medicine at UC San Francisco, told me. Gandhi describes herself as “left of left,” but has alienated some of her ideological peers because she has advocated for policies such as reopening schools and establishing a clear timeline for the end of mask mandates. “We went the other way, in an extreme way, against Trump’s politicization,” Gandhi said. Geography and personality may have also contributed to progressives’ caution: Some of the most liberal parts of the country are places where the pandemic hit especially hard, and Hetherington found that the very liberal participants in his survey tended to be the most neurotic.

The spring of 2021 is different from the spring of 2020, though. Scientists know a lot more about how COVID-19 spreads—and how it doesn’t. Public-health advice is shifting. But some progressives have not updated their behavior based on the new information. And in their eagerness to protect themselves and others, they may be underestimating other costs. Being extra careful about COVID-19 is (mostly) harmless when it’s limited to wiping down your groceries with Lysol wipes and wearing a mask in places where you’re unlikely to spread the coronavirus, such as on a hiking trail. But vigilance can have unintended consequences when it imposes on other people’s lives. Even as scientific knowledge of COVID-19 has increased, some progressives have continued to embrace policies and behaviors that aren’t supported by evidence, such as banning access to playgrounds, closing beaches, and refusing to reopen schools for in-person learning.

“Those who are vaccinated on the left seem to think overcaution now is the way to go, which is making people on the right question the effectiveness of the vaccines,” Gandhi told me. Public figures and policy makers who try to dictate others’ behavior without any scientific justification for doing so erode trust in public health and make people less willing to take useful precautions. The marginal gains of staying shut down might not justify the potential backlash.

Read: Overcaution carries its own danger to children
Even as the very effective covid-19 vaccines have become widely accessible, many progressives continue to listen to voices preaching caution over relaxation. Anthony Fauci recently said he wouldn’t travel or eat at restaurants even though he’s fully vaccinated, despite CDC guidance that these activities can be safe for vaccinated people who take precautions. California Governor Gavin Newsom refused in April to guarantee that the state’s schools would fully reopen in the fall, even though studies have demonstrated for months that modified in-person instruction is safe. Leaders in Brookline, Massachusetts, decided this week to keep a local outdoor mask mandate in place, even though the CDC recently relaxed its guidance for outdoor mask use. And scolding is still a popular pastime. “At least in San Francisco, a lot of people are glaring at each other if they don’t wear masks outside,” Gandhi said, even though the risk of outdoor transmission is very low.

Goldstein and his wife decided early on in the pandemic that they were going to take restrictions extremely seriously and adopt the most cautious interpretation of when it was safe to do anything. He’s been shaving his own head since the summer (with “bad consequences,” he said). Although rugby teams have been back on the fields in Boston, where he lives, his team still won’t participate, for fear of spreading germs when players pile on top of one another in a scrum. He spends his mornings and evenings sifting through stories of people who have recently died from the coronavirus for Faces of COVID, a Twitter feed he started to memorialize deaths during the pandemic. “My fear is that we will not learn the lessons of the pandemic, because we will try to blow through the finish line as fast as we can and leave it in the rearview mirror,” he said.
Progressive politics focuses on fighting against everyday disasters, such as climate change and poverty, struggles that may shape how some people see the pandemic. “If you’re deeply concerned that the real disaster that’s happening here is that the social contract has been broken and the vulnerable in society are once again being kicked while they’re down, then you’re going to be hypersensitive to every detail, to every headline, to every infection rate,” Scott Knowles, a professor at the South Korean university KAIST who studies the history of disasters, told me. Some progressives believe that the pandemic has created an opening for ambitious policy proposals. “Among progressive political leaders around here, there’s a lot of talk around: We’re not going back to normal, because normal wasn’t good enough,” Goldstein said.

Months slipped by, and evidence mounted that schools could reopen safely. In Somerville, a local leader appeared to describe parents who wanted a faster return to in-person instruction as “fucking white parents” in a virtual public meeting; a community member accused the group of mothers advocating for schools to reopen of being motivated by white supremacy. “I spent four years fighting Trump because he was so anti-science,” Daniele Lantagne, a Somerville mom and engineering professor who works to promote equitable access to clean water and sanitation during disease outbreaks, told me. “I spent the last year fighting people who I normally would agree with … desperately trying to inject science into school reopening, and completely failed.”

It was always political, now it's driven by power, control, and money. At no point was 'The Science' actually followed.

The reported number of COVID-19 hospitalizations, one of the primary metrics for tracking the severity of the coronavirus pandemic, was grossly inflated for children in California hospitals, two research papers published Wednesday concluded. The papers, both published in the journal Hospital Pediatrics, found that pediatric hospitalizations for COVID-19 were overcounted by at least 40 percent, carrying potential implications for nationwide figures.

Dr. Monica Gandhi, an infectious-diseases specialist at the University of California, San Francisco, and Amy Beck, an associate professor of pediatrics, also at UCSF, wrote a commentary for Hospital Pediatrics that accompanied the two studies. They wrote, “Taken together, these studies underscore the importance of clearly distinguishing between children hospitalized with SARS-CoV-2 found on universal testing versus those hospitalized for COVID-19 disease.” The studies demonstrate, they said, that reported hospitalization rates “greatly overestimate the true burden of COVID-19 disease in children.” Gandhi told Intelligencer that while the studies were both conducted with data from California hospitals, “there is no reason to think these findings would be exclusive to California. This sort of retrospective chart review will likely reveal the same findings across the country.”

it's incredible to me that they pull these stunts, all they accomplish is loss of credibility and mistrust...it might take time but in the end it almost always comes out.

Here's an example of The Science apparently being wrong, or at minimum just not knowing what they don't know, but acting like they do.

There has been a lot of discussion about spike proteins, and where they go/what they do. Those dubbed 'conspiracy types' by 'The Science followers' constantly repeat this stuff:

https://blogs.sciencemag.org/pipeline/archives/2021/05/04/spike-protein-behavior

The Spike protein is not released to wander freely through the bloodstream by itself, because it has a transmembrane anchor region that (as the name implies) leaves it stuck. That's how it sits in the virus itself, and it does the same in human cells. See the discussion in this paper on the development of the Moderna vaccine, and the same applies to all the mRNA and vector vaccines that produce the Spike. You certainly don't have the real-infection situation of Spike-covered viruses washing along everywhere through the circulation. The Spike protein produced by vaccination is not released in a way that it gets to encounter the ACE2 proteins on the surface of other human cells at all: it's sitting on the surface of muscle and lymphatic cells up in your shoulder, not wandering through your lungs causing trouble.
This is used to assuage fears in those cautious over the vaccine, and it's been repeated endlessly. But a new study came out, showing this is false:

https://academic.oup.com/cid/advance-article/doi/10.1093/cid/ciab465/6279075

We hypothesize that the cellular immune responses triggered by
T-cell activation, which would occur days after the vaccination, lead to direct killing of cells
presenting spike protein and an additional release of spike into the blood stream9

-

Nonetheless, evidence of systemic detection of spike and S1 protein
production from the mRNA-1273 vaccine is significant and has not yet been described in an
vaccine study
, likely due to limitations in assay sensitivity and timing assessment. The
clinical relevance of this finding is unknown and should be further explored. These data
show that S1 antigen production after the initial vaccination can be detected by day one and is present beyond the site of injection and the associated regional lymph nodes
So, the common line about spike proteins not circulating is proven false. Now, no one know what this actually means, but here's what it COULD mean, a concern raised to the FDA months ago:

https://www.regulations.gov/document/FDA-2020-N-1898-0246

This is why I fight so hard against the efforts here to just force people to unquestioningly, blindly buy whatever The Science is selling.

It's up there with the Hilary Clinton child sex ring in a Florida pizzeria basement (nevermind the fact that there is no basement in the building)

Yesterday there was a FOIA which dumped thousands of Fauci emails. It's pretty fantastic. He's not looking good. Alex Berenson is the one to follow:

Or

fauci told colleagues that masks didn't offer protection due to size of virus--this means fauci has been lying to us, and if fauci knew masks didn't offer protection then diben either knew and has been lying or is totally incompetent-or maybe both?

i can't believe fauci could get away with this lie for so long---where is the investigative reporters?

did the media know this all along?

damn, as someone who has been wearing a mask all this time this really pisses me off!!!

Bro, he said this on TV in an interview in public, back in Jan or Feb, too. He didn't hide it. He literally said 'lol no why would a healthy person wear a mask?'.

we’ve been played the whole time and it was obvious a long time ago
Indeed. The proof has been out there the whole time; the problem has been that no one cares about whatever study you can bring, because some corrupt propaganda purveyor also put our a study saying or suggesting the opposite. But now that we have the actual sources of this bullshit caught agreeing with OUR studies, well, they can't weasel out of this at all.

I think they know this, and Fauci is being set up as the fall guy.

then diben has been lying to us when he says we need to wear masks OR he really is THAT mentally deficient-or both?

i for one have been a outspoken critic of the vaccines but have been very pro-mask, i feel betrayed....maybe i am mentally deficient for having trusted them when they told me wearing a mask would help prevent spread of the disease?

Bro...you’ve just been fooled by the corrupt media. Plain and simple. You cannot fully trust anything anymore. Always be a skeptic. I’m not saying to be combative but never take the main stream media or a politician’s word without thinking about it first.

People hate on Fox news and I agree they are pretty biased. But, they have been way more truthful about everything. When you see all the blatant lies they call out from other media sources and political figures, it’s like how do people not see this??

I just hope we all truly wake up (not this bs woke culture sh!t) before it’s too late.

Betrayed? Yeah, we all were, whether or not we bought into any of it. Deficient? Nah, at face value, it makes sense. I'd you weren't fucking around on pubmed for 6hrs a day, it was hard to find the truth amongst the tsunami of force behind the push to do dumb ****.

I'm the guy fucking around on pubmed 6hrs a day, lol. Some key points were when fauci himself, the US surgeon General, the WHO, and most other agencies were against masks in Feb, vocally, then all of a sudden did an about face and endorsed masks. Literally nothing changed, no studies were done, they just changed their minds. The reasoning?

It protects you, and not me. What a crock of ****. No one is wearing a directional mask that works that way. It's a pure guilt trip. People bought it.

Then there were the fires. Turns out, if you can smell the smoke through your mask, it ain't doing **** all to stop covid. That was immediately a thought I had, research easily bore that out, and then one or 2 local psa's actually mentioned that your covid mask won't work for the fire. No mention of it not working for covid, of course, but duh, particle sizes for covid and smoke are easy to find. Covid is way smaller.

Then there are simply loads of studies in masks, particles, and how they interplay. There are studies on how people wear masks, and even medical professionals who go through training can't put one on properly (that's 10 out of 10 that could not).

It was always bullshit, but they did a good job bludgeoning anyone who disagreed, and social pressure was sufficient to get people to simoky capitulate (since most people aren't assholes, and don't want to be that guy). One last word about it, and I use this analogy a lot, when people say 'well, they do SOMETHING, and that's better than NOTHING!' :

I have a bulletproof vest to sell you. It stops 4 out of 10 bullets fired center mass. Sound good? Super helpful vest right?

Masks are the same. Even if they block 40% of a sneeze or cough at the super high end, there's still something around 120m particles that escape, and it only takes a couple thousand to infect. And BTW, 6ft is no more protective than 60ft. Those particles float efficiently, and far.

Cliffs: **** the liars

The media said with 100% confidence all last year that covid was not from a lab, and media sources propagated that incessantly, and sycophants online bullied any who questioned that narrative. WE now know Fauci lied to Congress under oath about his knowledge and involvement in gain of function research, and that Fauci and others were talking about the possibility of ther virus being engineered LAST YEAR WHEN IT STARTED. Not only that, but there was apparently a concerted effort to cover that up.

Motive: ousting Trump, power, money. Fact: in 2019, Americans had the highest level of satisfaction in 20 years; unemployment was low, with black unemployment being the lowest in 50 years; the ME had 7 countries traditionally hostile to Israel signing peace agreements or normalizing relations, an unprecedented acheivement; the economy was booming.

Democrats were set to lose bigly. So, whether it was intentionally released, or accidental, the pandemic was utilized to reshape that landscape. The Dems had tried to oust Trump with back-alley bullshit, and failed time and time again: stormi, russia, kavanaugh, russia, ukraine, russia, ad naseum. Instead of trying to win by presenting a better solution, a better vision of America, they tried to win through sabotage, to win by disabling their opponent. They failed dismally, and they couldn't have Americans going into that election fat and happy, and because they wasted 4 years attacking Trump, instead of preparing a candidate, they were caught with their pants down. They, in their arrogance, couldn't fathom why none of it was working, and months before election they had a dismal lineup of Dem candidates: creepy old man Biden, militant Kamala with 7% approval ratings, Buttigeg, Herr Warren, etc. So what did they do? They made sure to hit Americans in the 2 most important areas they could, and take away the 2 most important things to most people: economic safety, and security. They killed jobs, caused the failure of 40% of all small businesses, crushed dreams, put everyone but the elite they profess to hate on the ropes financially, then threw a match on societal issues to provoke riots, burning, and looting. Just to make sure the depression and fear set in sufficiently, they forced everyone to stay home, to mask up, and stop all the things that make life worth living, and they made sure we would be glued to our devices, where they could hammer us with propaganda and utter lies for nearly a year leading up to the election. And just to be 100% sure, they cheated the vote.

And history would tell us that power once gained, is never relinquished. The elite became more elite, the poor poorer; power and money were heavily consolidated. The potential of mrna to make money, and do who knows what else, is MASSIVE. We've already had 9 new billionaires created in the last 6 months from vaccines alone.

Follow the money, always.

Alameda County’s new COVID death toll is 25% lower than thought
County health officials reviewed COVID-19 death records and found 411 cases that were "clearly not" caused by the disease.

A quarter of all deaths previously attributed to COVID-19 in Alameda County weren’t actually caused by the coronavirus, the Alameda County Public Health Department announced today.

That puts the county’s new official COVID-19 death toll at 1,223, down from 1,634.

The 25% decrease—or 411 cases—is due to the fact that COVID “wasn’t a direct cause” of death in these cases, according to county health officials.

County officials decided to revise the numbers after they reviewed guidance from the California Department of Public Health about how to classify deaths as being caused by COVID-19. The new count more accurately reflects how many people died as a direct result of, or complications from, a COVID-19 infection.

The Recently Infected and Already Immune Do NOT Benefit From COVID-19 Vaccination.
A warning to the United States Food and Drug Administration and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention

The US Food and Drug Administration is being warned here: The US should not be allowing indiscriminate COVID-19 vaccination of the recently infected or already immune. Since Fall 2020, I have been warning the US Food and Drug Administration and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention about the potential danger of indiscriminately vaccinating those recently infected with and naturally immune to COVID-19.

My warnings have fallen on deaf ears at these federal agencies - despite both their ethical and immunological power, predicting harm to at least a minority subset of unsuspecting Americans - and many more worldwide. But this severe safety concern, which our federal public health agencies and the vaccine manufacturers are unable to address with integrity and are ignoring instead, is something that every day Americans understand very clearly. It's no wonder that about half of America is not willing to get the COVID-19 vaccine. FDA and CDC leaders and public relations experts should understand that trust is earned, it is not imposed.

What's shocking about FDA and CDC's unwillingness to concede the potential danger of indiscriminate COVID-19 vaccination of the recently infected and currently immune, is that they already know the arguments against vaccinating such persons very well - both ethically and scientifically. There are two of them:

Medical Necessity: It is a rigid medical ethical principle that when a medical treatment or procedure is offered to persons who stand to gain little to no benefit, only harm can be done. The truth is that the vast majority of the millions of Americans who've had natural COVID-19 infections, and especially those with serological evidence of immunity, stand to gain little to no benefit from added vaccination. When these persons are vaccinated indiscriminately, they are ONLY afforded the possibility of harm - NOT benefit.

Immunological Harm: It is an immunological principle that vaccinating a person who is recently or concurrently infected can reactivate, or exacerbate, a harmful inflammatory response to the virus. This is NOT a theoretical concern. In fact, it is the reason why the Israelis are NOT vaccinating persons with a known history of COVID-19 infection. And, really, every self-respecting and decently trained American immunologist and physician grasps this idea - certainly most laypersons in America, whose own lives and their loved ones' are in the line of fire, get it.

But even more deplorable is that CDC knows about specific cases of critical inflammatory disease that followed vaccination of previously COVID-19 infected persons. These are not statistical anomalies - these complications are happening and because they are totally avoidable, they classify as "HARM". Here's one CDC study describing just this hazard in 3 patients out of a set of 6:

Of course, there are plenty of anecdotes of this kind of harm, post-vaccination, in the main stream press. Folks like Dr. J. Barton Williams of TN or Mr. Christopher Sarmiento of NM, to name just two.

Sadly, FDA, CDC and the vaccine manufacturers are more oriented towards downplaying or ignoring these complications instead of being honest about what is almost certainly a causal link between a prior infection and an unnecessary vaccination.

Imagine, if FDA and CDC chose integrity and honesty with the American people instead of its dangerous "one-size-fits-all" public health narrative. How hard would it be for these agencies to level with America and let people know that if they have a history or COVID-19 infection or if they have any evidence of antibody immunity against SARS-CoV-2, they can hold off vaccination? Imagine if the patients studied in the above paper, or if J. Barton William and Christopher Sarmiento had been told this by FDA - Maybe they'd still be alive!

Instead, the current commissioner of the FDA proudly states in a Tweet that the gold-standard serological evidence of immunity to the SARS-CoV-2 (i.e., the antibody tests for Spike protein and Nucleocapsid) means nothing in 2021. No matter that this same clinical readout (i.e., antibodies against SARS-CoV-2) was used to assess the vaccine's efficacy in the clinical trials leading to EUA approval of the COVID-19 vaccines.

Now if that's not backwards and anti-scientific thinking from a seasoned FDA commissioner, who also happens to be an immunologist and rheumatologist herself, I'm not sure what is! I'm simply shocked by Dr. Woodcock's inability to steer FDA and CDC right on this and protect already immune Americans from indiscriminate vaccination.
Woodcock knows better - or she should! But she's choosing to act in lock step with the administration narrative, instead of staying true to her mission of defending EVERY American's life.

To compound the problem, shameful and non-expert reporters from powerful news organizations like the New York Times also twist the narrative and project lies with impunity. Recently, NYTimes' Apoorva Mandavilli stated that vaccinating previously infected people makes them "bullet-proof"***8230;.Tell that to the patients described in the CDC study above - and how about to J. Barton Williams, Christopher Sarmiento and Everest Romney and their families. Deplorable!

It's truly deplorable to see non-expert reporters dominantly pushing a government narrative that is ultimately political and dangerous to real Americans' lives. It's such a shame that some of my good friends at the NYTimes aren't questioning this unethical journalistic behavior.

Why is this contortion and unethical behavior happening in America? It's simple. The vaccine will save far more people than it harms - THAT, is true and it's a good thing. But this utilitarian calculus is all CDC, FDA, the vaccine manufacturers and the mainstream media care about - Majority benefit is easy, economically well lubricated and it can garner un-nuanced democratic support very easily. "Minority harm" is very easy to tolerate and ignore, when majority benefit is almost a certainty - and especially in an "emergency". But America tolerates irreparable harm to minority subsets of people, at ANY time, at peril to her own body, soul and history. "We've done that experiment before."

It is no wonder many every day Americans have lost trust in our institutions of the press and government. Our political and expert classes' carelessness compromises unsuspecting lives in America every day - and EVERY day Americans are on the receiving end of it and see it - Our government, our experts and the press, do not deserve America's trust today!
Here, I am publicly warning FDA and CDC that the United States should not be allowing indiscriminate vaccination of Americans who are recently infected and naturally immune - because such persons stand to gain little to no benefit and are only at risk of harm from vaccination. Certainly allowing American corporations and educational institutions to force, coerce or require such people to get such unnecessary and potentially harmful vaccines is anathema to the American ethos, if not to the constitution of our nation.
I know with certainty that nearly half of the American people see the hazard I have been warning the FDA, CDC and the vaccine manufacturers about. The American people see the hazard that "experts" are not willing to admit because they fear the politics of rocking the boat, or are comfortable with majority benefit alone, or are florid economic/professional beneficiaries of the practice.
Fellow citizen, #ScreenB4Vaccine is NOT a political entity- though by ignoring its critical importance to ensuring safety from indiscriminate vaccination, the Biden administration, FDA and CDC have made it one.
#ScreenB4Vaccine is a serious safety device every American can access to determine medical necessity of vaccination and ensure maximal safety from potential vaccine complications and harm. Use it. Ask for it. It's as simple as a blood draw.
I write in defense of US public health, medical ethics and patient safety.

He says they don't benefit, and theoretically may cause immune over reaction issues.
i just saw where a cleveland clinic study said almost the same.

The key word is RECENTLY.

Where I’m living they dont vaccinate until 3 months after contamination.

my grandpa got moderna and now he's having sudden heart problems. hopefully he's not getting the random organ failure but it doesn't sound so good. I don't have a lot of details as I haven't gotten to talk to him about it directly.
