The Reaper gets Sweaty and Sticky with Golden Finish (sponsored)

Man, I'm sorry to hear that ! It took quite a while for me to get the form right. But to be fair, my form wasn't good until I built some solid back mass from exercises other than deads, and powered up my lumbar region real good. Before, I just to use my back ONLY, almost stiff-legged. And my back would be aching for days, and it'd look like my body was about to break in half when doing heavy deads back in the day .. With form came 'comfort' and no more pain . .
its funny you say that as I know my form is not wonderful, but the damagbe to the rhomboid almost becomes too much of a setback. I agree it is probably the best overall ecercise for back, but I have been reading that heavy rows, be it bb rows, tbar etc.. can give similar results

I also just got back from my morning cardio. After about 30 minutes I had to argue with myself to stay on the damn machine.

45 minutes 15% 4.4

Yeah deads are def. an interesting exercise. That sucks about the rhomboid injury. Heavy BB rows and squats will make it up tho!

I do my best with the rows. Try to keep the form strict and the weight high.

Ever try inverted rows? I've had some good luck with those. That's one of my main goals this summer is to get my back thicker, and I don't like doing rows but they're starting to grow on me

Lots of sets you got for back there, bro ! Keep that $hit up !!

You mentioned you wanted to try something different - hence the giant set routine; try to begin incorporating some heavy deads as the first exercise in your routine. I swear, not enough people have reaped all its benefits, and instead left the exercise in the dust ! It's the be-all/end-all in terms of attaining that feeling of invincibility, because you'll find yourself adding another plate week after week after week . . .you get the picture !
:goodpost: Right on, my Norse brother!! I feel like Jon Pall Sigmarsson about deadlifting. He said you have to do it to be a man! It will build incredible strength that plays out into other lifts and even bodyparts. I got mine up to 610 lbs. It's probably THE best exercise for building total body power. I place it ahead of Squats even!! THE THUNDERGOD:hammer:

Yes sir. Think of it as a pullup only horizontally and not vertically.

And for shits and giggles since we're on the topic of rows, renegade rows! :D

these are awesome I will be giving them a shot in the near future

had a little time after work, and since today is a non lifting day, I hit a little afternoon cardio

30 minutes 15% 4.5mph

God dayyyuumm, Thunder, that's enough weight to get the bar bending real good ! :clap2:

Feeling invincible, yet ?! . . . that's what I thought !

got in some cardio this am tried to increase speed a little bit, just to make it a bit more demanding

45 minutes 15% 4.6mph

burns a hell of a lot of calories

Good job, once again, bro ! I won't be doing much more than a 45 minute walk outside this morning. The Gauntlet just doesn't sound like fun at the moment ! LOL :aargh:

Those inverted rows are the things i talk about doing in my log. After a few sets of those they get hard to do. But very effective. I might try the renegade thing..lol problem for me is i cant lift the super big dumbells with the wider base to balance on. I probably will eat the floor.

I certainly hope you dont fall on your face! Do they have hexagonal dbs at your gym? The circular ones are hard for on the floor lifts like that... I also tried to do a variation of those combined with some pushups... if you dont keep a steady balance you do end up eating the floor. lol.... It's worth a try though!

Yes the renegade's are traditionally done with kettlebells, but i use heavy DB's. They are great for stabilizer muscles / abs, not just good for back.
Those inverted rows are pretty grueling after like 3 sets, especially if you do them at the end of a back workout!

thats what I am thinking for friday, at the tail of the workout throw in the inverted

lol this just popped up but...
The reaper got a golden finish from RR... lol
Im glad to see the product is working out! Keep up the good work!

thanks guys much appreciated. I am really enjoying this product. Its rare to get one you actually enjoy tasting

The "wizard" returned to the weights today to try and make some interesting changes, all in giant set form, and they are grouped as such

Chest:
Incline Flys (5 sets) 35lbs all to failure
Incline BP (5 sets) 225lbs all sets to failure
Perfect Pushup (5 sets) to failure

Flat Flys (5 sets) 35lbs failure
Flat BP (5 sets) 225lbs to failure
Perfect pushup (5 sets) failure
Incline DB press (4 sets) 65lbs to failure

let me say I AM SHOT. First off, the perfect pushup was not intended, but they were there and I liked the feeling, after about 15 or so, you really felt it, especially as the giant sets wore on. The funny thing also is that 65's on incline db's is not a good weight for me, but I was toasted and they felt like a friggin ton. Left the gym, picked up my daughter, got home and took my GF. Tomorrow should be a hell of a sore day

feeling somewhat sore, but nothing too terrible. Didnt get a chance to get in morning cardio this am, will make it up tomorrow. I will be trying some new things for arms this afternoon as well

always gotta change it up, otherwise the body will adjust too much.

I have some things in mind, see how they will work

:goodpost: Exact-a-mundo!! Gotta change that shizz up all the time! I use different intensity techniques every couple of workouts to keep the body off-guard. It adapts very quickly to the stresses placed upon it. Variety is key. I'll switch around from drop sets, to super-sets, pre-exhaustion sets, rest-pause reps, forced reps, partials, static holds,...etc. Log continues to look great bro. :clap2: Keep up the good stuff!! THE THUNDERGOD:hammer:

got to make a change in the arm workout. First, I only worked biceps, since they are always the lagger behind.

BB Curls (5 sets) 125lbs 6 reps

Here is where the supersetting came in. When these were paired together, I went from exercise a to exercise b, always going to failure.

Seated incline curls (4 sets) 40lbs
1arm db preacher (4 sets) 45lbs

Superman curls (4 sets) 50lbs
glass hammers (4 sets) 40lbs

Hell of a burn, when I was working into db preacher, my arms were trembling and very painful. Gotta love that burn, nothing like it, especially in arms, at least for me.

Also, I decided to keep bb curls as a stand alone as I truly feel I get more out of it the heavier I go.

Tomorrow is am cardio and pm back. WIll be adding in inverted rows tomorrow, I was already scoping out the layout to make sure how it will work

got a little morning cardio in

45 minutes 15% 4.5mph

looking forward to back this afternoon. those inverted rows seem intriguing

There's nothing quite like supersetting for biceps!!! I love the feeling of being pumped and shaking :)

Looking forward to your thoughts on those inverted Rows!! :squat:

got in a hell of a back workout giant set style. still feeling the afterpump, and just finished my gf.

underhand pulldowns (5 sets) 150lbs-165lbs
barn doors (5 sets) 60-70lbs
seated cable rows (5 sets) 180-200lbs

inverted rows (5 sets) bw to failure
back extensions (5 sets) 170-190lbs
t-bar rows (5 sets) 3 45's

felt great, I have been having a whey shake pre wo, just for a little extra benefit. My weight is up but not in troublesome areas. I am going tonight to pick up some Cissus as the joints, like me are getting a bit old and creaky.

Haha great workout. How were those rows??? Hell I'm 24 and my joints are creakin too (shoulders mostly.) Cissus will do a great job for ya. Good to hear about the good weight gain tho !!! :)

And I do lift weights you know ... it just seems like I'm online all the time cuz we seem to go on here at the same time of day. :D I HAVE A LIFE! LOL

I am looking forward to the cissus addition, I called my VS anbd they have the primaforce one at a decent price, similar to most websites price with shipping.

I have the same dilemma. My wife is starting to think I have a girl friend on here

lol! Not a bad price for VS. I haven't tried the Primaforce one but have heard good things!

I took the first dose of it this am, so we will see

got in some morning cardio and abs
35 minutes 15% 4.5mph

abs
ball crunches 100
side extensions holding 35lbs 100 per side

Had to go a little early for the lift this afternoon. Had a solid shoulder workout. Was fairly traditional, only small alterations

Upright rows (4 sets) 135lbs
Seated BB press (6 sets) 225lbs 4 reps 2 sets @205lbs 8 reps

Arny Presses (4 sets) 70lbs
Seated Side laterals (4 sets) 30lbs

Rear delt cables (4 sets) 40lbs
Lying side laterals (4 sets) 15lbs

Not ovberly thrilled with the lift, but it was solid none the less. Was a bit rushed, and the lace was busier than I expected. I hate when all the primadonnas are in there looking to take up space and just chat. Normally I just ignore them, but evbery where I went they were stadning there in the way. I guess I was just more of a crank than usual

Awesome bro, it's cool to see ya get in every damn workout, plus tons of cardio ! Keep that $hit going !!

.. and I know what you mean regarding the 'primadonnas' .. Every workout I'm just cussing to myself because people are either occupying the station I need by just sitting down, or by doing 5-6 sets with 3-4 minutes of rest in between sets -> 'FVCK YOU, LAZY MOTHERFVCKER ! Man up and up the intensity in a bit .. '

with you 100% it is so damn annoying. normally I dont let it get to me, but I wanted to get to the only seated press bench, and these two women were using it as a conversation station, with the periodic standing press with a 20lbs bar. That could be done anywhere, so either do it right or walk away

got in a little morning activity.

cardio:
35 minutes 15% 4.5mph

abs:
side crunches 70lbs 100 reps per side
ball crunches 100 reps

I have decided to throw in a little abs again. Abs are so tedious for me for some reason, so I figured if I threw in only 100 for each side and middle I would be ok. Still hate doinbg them though

Yeah I loathe crunches, I need to step up my ab game for sure.

I absolutely hate doing them, I would rather hours of cardio as opposed to abs.

just got back from a solid arm workout. awesome pump

triceps (giant set)
rope pulldowns (5 sets) 100lbs
2arm db extensions (5 sets) 75-80lbs
standing skull crushers (5 sets) 70-110lbs
1arm reverse grip pulldowns (5 sets) 30lbs

I was burning like crazy, my weights began to fade as the 5 giant sets took their toll, but I was able to push to bi's

bb curls (5 sets) 125lbs 6 reps

Giant set
seated incline curls (5 sets) 40lbs
seated hammer curls (5 sets) 40lbs
2 arm preacher bench (5 sets) 100lbs

While I love the burn, and I really do, it was toofriggin intense. Which is a good thing I imagine

More of the same in the AM

cardio:
35 minutes 15% 4.5mph

abs:
side crunches 70lbs 100 reps per side
ball crunches 100 reps

. . Rise and shine, my friend ! :aargh:

I'm gonna get in a cardio session myself now. Just some light running, but I'm gonna warm up with a 30 minute walk in the park with the dog. I mean, why not. Low-intensity or no intensity, take a pick ?! :afro:
