Where is the slide fire stock on that beast? I do like the Snake skin graphics on it though makes it look even meaner than it is

Lol. I don't think I can afford to shoot it with a slide fire stock. Thanks for the kind words on the paint. It's alumahyde ii from brownells. I camo'd it then put mesh over it and dusted it with opposing colors. Notice the Arabic above the trigger. "Infidel"

that one is a cheesy $20 chinese plastic one, but its not too bad. Thats a 308 AR, and it held up ok so far, and was stable enough that I was dumping a whole mag in 15 seconds into a 3 inch group at 50 yards with the reflex sight. I'd really like to get the VLTOR modpod, but too much money after this thing cost to build in the first place. Amazing that the 2mm of bullet size difference doubles (and more) the price of parts.

I have a marine buddy who keeps telling me that he will grab me one. And with great power comes deep pocket book!

I have a couple buddies that have seen the effects of a 233 vs 308 on a human. They also said the 2mm effect is amazing

I was reading in one place with the 168gr 308, if you hit the torso at all, the shockwave is fairly likely to cause enough organ damage to kill, and likely instantly stop the heart if the shot is within 12" of the heart. I went this route because I wanted to go wild hog hunting here in FL, and I wanted to be sure of one shot fast kills.

I am a history channel fan and they were running a replay of mail call with that old gunny. The episode was focusing on the rifles that the military has used in conflict and he made one point that was really interesting. "The U.S military switched to a 5.56 round from the 306 round because if you kill some one in battle that's one man down, but if you injure one man it is going to take another two men to take care of that one guy thus eliminating three people from battle." I dont remember if those were his exact words but it was along those lines.

My saiga 12 is my hog gun. It will bust 4 inch clays at 50 yds with rifled slugs

Lol. My father did two tours in nam. He used to say the exact same thing.

yeah, I mostly needed an excuse to use with my wife for why I was building it :D

Good job. Looks great. I'm gonna get another upper with a shorter barrel for my 308 when everything calms down.

hey do you guys know any "secret spot” to pick up cheep M-1's? I would love an old carbine.

nah, but cheap mosin nagants are around all the time :)
I got my self one of those in a trade. I picked up a couple of thousand rounds of brass .223 before prices went all crazy then traded this guy 300 rounds for a Soviet Nagant with all the surplus extras and 440 rounds of 7.62x54

Have some restrictions but can get a nice one from there.

The mako group makes a pretty sweet rotating one. Feels really solid on my ar

If you guys want a really good and dependable bipod, check out Harris Bipods: Invalid Link Removed

A little more pricey, but I have a few of them and they're very well made. They make quite a few different versions/sizes as well to fit your specific need.

I bought a GoPro camera this week that I'm going to start taking with me on shooting/hunting trips. There is a 3rd party vendor that makes specific gun mounts as well: Invalid Link Removed

Once I figure out how to work this thing, I'll get some video up.

Now to customize a B.A.D. lever on her. :D

Went out shooting a couple of days ago and this older guy started asking about my AR, like how hard was it to build how much did it cost and what not. You guys should have seen him grin when I asked him if he wanted to shoot it? At first he said no that he couldn’t but when I insisted he went for. After he went through a mag he asked me if I wanted to shoot his pistol. I said sure expecting to pop off some little .22 nope this guy pulled out a 50 cal desert eagle and handed it to me! It was a fantastic day at the range!

I had expected to get that last time at the range myself, a couple of guys were looking over with a questioning look after hearing the rifle go off, and seeing the brass. The one actually picked up the brass and was checking it out. I guess AR15s are pretty commonplace there, but not a whole lot of 308 ARs

A 308 AR15 is an awesome combo of reliability with stopping power! Plus I bet the 308 round is a hell of a lot easier to find! what did you have to do to allow your .223 platform to accommodate the 308 round?

its a full 308 AR, based on the DPMS LR308. I can't call it an AR10, as that is armalite's name and they don't share all parts. Its a 308 specific lower (has to be, the length of 308 bullets is too long to fit) and 308 specific upper too. Its not really easier to find ammo though, and its priced higher too. but loads of fun. The only parts really in common with an AR15 are some of the lower parts kits, but a few pieces there are different too. The buffer tubes are the same :)

Ahh I see I wasn’t sure if there was a modification kit like you can do to convert a .223 to a 22LR Im thinking my next project is going to be an AK. There is a place by my house that you can get a coated 80% lower for like 90 bucks. I have heard they are a pain to try and put together though.

there have been a few places that did a lower that was really a multi caliber compatible so you could switch a 223 + 308 upper, but its a lot simpler to have dedicated lower/upper combos. my next will be a short barrel AR15 (maybe pistol configuration) in 300 blackout

I had to Google what that would look like and my god that a vicious looking set up! Diane Feinstein would ship her pants if she saw that!

and in florida, supressors ("silencers") are legal, just have to pay the $200 BATF tax stamp. the 300 blackout can be loaded subsonic, so pretty close to truly silent with a good supressor :)

god i hate to ask this cause i feel like such a noob but im looking for a home defense handgun not revolver in the 4-500 range. i live in Cali and and consider myself fairly new to the while gun game. help a brotha out?

.40 or 45acp. For strictly home defense you can't go wrong with a tac shotgun.

which has more stopping power? what's a reliable brand ?

anything in that caliber range has plenty of stopping power. Ruger has a few models that are a pretty good buy in that price range. if you wanted a 1911 pistol, Metro Arms and Rock Island Armory make decent ones in that price range too.

A. 40 is the best of both world's between 9mm and 45acp. It tends to be more affordable than 45acp. 45Acp is a hand cannon I chose it for take down defense. 9Mm is a good choice too but I would suggest the 40 or 45 because 9mm is a very competitive caliber and sometimes it's hard to find right now.

I have a Ruger P95 that I picked up new for $250 The Rock Island is a great 1911 platform gun, my dad has one and loves it. For home defense though you can get a Mossberg looking tits for like 400 bucks or their off brand Maverick for even less. I would recommend going to your local gun range and renting a couple of pistols and see what you like the best.

am not a fan of the fore grip on shot guns, but that’s just me. There is a really nice adjustable butt stock with a pistol grip you can put in there that swivels out if you want to have a traditional feel or pivot it in to have the pistol grip only its like a $100. Also if you are going home defense a side rail to hold more shells is all way nice. If your going tac a heat shield makes it look mean plus if you get into a gun battle you wont burn your fingers when you’re going through a bunch of shells.

Why mossberg? Personal experience with them? I personally don't like how they feel, I prefer Remington's or Benellis. Which ever you go with, don't go to tacticool with it. Get a way to hold a few extra shells, a light and if really desired, ghost ring sites.

I just 'built' this Benelli supernova. She sleeps in a rack attached to my bed every night.

Just picked up this little night stand beauty. Hi-Point .45acp. Ugly as **** but $200 with laser. I like their pistol chambered carbines too. Well I can't remember how to attach pics.
