The Complete Vitamin D Thread

Trauma1

Legend
I've decided to put together a resourceful Vitamin D thread for you all. I've had a thread on this in the past (as well as some documented information in some of my logs), but I wanted to put together a more broad spectrum wealth of resources for everyone to read and enjoy. I will continue to update the information over time, as well as help to answer any questions that you all may have.

Scientific evidence is mounting with the myriad of factors/processes Vitamin D not only influences (at the cellular level and gene expression), but also regulates (both up and down regulation).

This thread is a work in progress, and I still have much information to add. :D

Youtube Vids on Vitamin D:

This jogged my memory of an article that t-nation ran awhile ago by Chris Shugart. Usually their supplement related articles are just exaggerated pimping to push Biotest, but this one had a pretty good, no bs approach.

Link below. There are also a few links to studies that you might not have included.

Mate this is a fantastic collection of articles, thanks very much!

I have a bunch more to add this coming week. I really hope to make this a great thread for you all with various degrees of information. Glad you're enjoying it. :)

so from these articles I concluded that a good amount to supplement is about 4000 IU. Do you guys get it liquid, powder, pill. I like to do all my vitamins liquid, I wonder if Vshopp got any liquid D.

hahaha i thought vitamin D should only be given to girls, in massive amounts

Yeah it's very indicated in females especially those with a poor bone health status, since vitamin D is needed for adequate calcium absorption.

I wrote up a post/stickie liek this over on PHF as well. I have done presentations on the use of Vitamin D and populations.

The FDA is about to change the recommendations and they NEVER change things so even they believe there is enough evidence for increased Vitamin D supplementation and sun exposure.

I take in 4,000 IU a day, nice and cheap tiny gel caps from NOW.

In a research paper done on the toxicity of Vitamin D it too patients a couple of months to get to toxic levels/effects using IV vitamin D at 100,000iu.

Looks like too much too read..... I will take your word for it :D

Tons of good reading. :D

I'll be further defining some of these research articles when I have more time so you can have a general idea what each individual article entails.

I will be picking up some Vitamin D3 for sure. Thanx for the readings, gotta make this a staple :)

Any chance we could get a summary of the benifits of D?? Thats a ton of reading...
Thanks!

Absolutely. This thread shall continue to evolve. I'll have a FAQ done on it eventually with all the basic info.

Bumping this. I still have quite a bit to add when I have time, but this is a pretty good resource for you guys in regard to Vitamin D.

People should also be looking at their Vitamin E intake too, such an important Vitamin with a myriad of uses in the body. Invalid Link Removed is my supplement of choice.

No doubt, Rick. Vitamin E is next on my list for a thread like this. :)

Vitamin A, D, E and are the essential vitamins men need to be looking at when it comes to increasing and maintaining a healthy level of testosterone.

So perhaps my good friend you could do a Vitamin A thread as well as a Vitamin E thread. ;). In general, as I have said before...vitamins and minerals are overlooked...they do a hell of a lot more than they are given credit for.

Cheers to John!

I take it NOW Foods would be a good brand to look at if starting to supplement with more Vitamin D than whats already in my multivit.

Indeed my friend. I'm going to do all the fat soluble vitamins (A,D,E,K). It will take some time because I have a full plate right now, but it will be done. I have a lot of good information on all of them to display for you all for reference.

BTW: I got your text the other day; I'm responding shortly. The family just got into town, so it's been crazy the last week, haha.
