The Case Against Obama - In His Own Words

You're kidding , right? John McCain sold his soul for this nomination and when he picks his mortal enemy Romney for his vice presidential running mate, it will be proven. He is not the man he was in 2000 (yeah I know, none of us are) he's gone backwards imo.

:bruce3:
I believe i said "low corruption" lol Integrity has no place in this topic, honor and politics are an oxymoron.

The bar has been set so low by the debacle in the office politicians must crawl on their bellies to slither through as the rest. Expectations are so low, its common to assume corruption ignorance and lies. A sad state of affairs.

Its the height of hypocrisy for an Obama supporter to say anything about selling one's soul. That guy has pulled more reversals in the the last 3 months than McCain has done in the last 10 years.

Says you, You listen to your sources, I'll listen to mine, thank you.

:bruce3:

What sources are those?

Not Fox noise network, that's for sure. And if you're going to sit there and tell me that John McCain has not flip flopped you're only watching half of the news. Show me a politician who hasn't flip flopped and I'll show you a liar. It's all in the perception of the listener.

:bruce3:

Fixed that for you.

I didn't want to take it that far as there are quite a few honest politicians, not successful but honest. It's quite a shame that people feel that way but I think it stems from the unrealistic pedestal that politicians were on for so long.

:bruce3:

:bruce3:
I think it is also just the nature of the position. Compromise and pandering, when the determining factor of your success is votes, automatically lends itself to a compromise of integrity.

Is that all the you can come up with? The same old garbage about sources? Oh it must be Fox news pulling a fast over all of us but then again, its the libs who are mad at him for flip flopping on Cuba, FISA, public financing, NAFTA, reducing corporate tax, DC handgun ban, oil drilling, etc....

We all know that bastion of liberal thought, FOX news. They really pulled the wool over our eyes.

They always point to FOX News as the demon. Its a standard defense. Listen liberals - all of the news is slanted. CNN is slanted, MSNBC, ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX. If you only focus on one source, then sure, you are likely to be misinformed. Probably NONE are worse though than those associated with NBC and ABC.

BO was too far left to stay there once he was in line for the nomination. He used that group to get where he needed to get, then changed stances to gain support from another group. He's flip-flopped on ALOT of stuff.

Yes, McCain has done so on a few things as well, but if forced to make a laundry list - BO in his short time in politics is VERY inconsistent.

You hear what you wish to hear and believe what you wish to believe. Whatever truth there is in between the lines will come out in the wash.
You know it's funny you conservatives blast Obama because of his ability to speak clearly well, You don't go to Harvard and speak jive, sorry. Too bad speaking well is NOT one of JM's stong suits, maybe he'll get his eyes checked so he can read his copy better. I'm beggining to think maybe it's a recent Republican trend as GWB is a babbling idiot. I say recent cause Ronald Reagan and George Herbert Walker Bush spoke very well.

I know this is hard for you Obama supporters to grasp, but there were Republican and conservative viewpoints before FOX news. I can't imagine who you would blame for brainwashing us all before the 1990's.

It must of have been that silent majority that elected Ronald Reagan.

Or maybe they were fooled with his oratory skills.

:bruce3:

We don't bash Obama for speaking well. We "criticize" Obama for doing nothing BUT speaking well. Believe what you want to believe? I think there is a whole lot of that going on with Obama supporters. What is even funnier than conservative criticizing his oratory skills is the supporters who blindly follow him and never question any of his policies BECAUSE he speaks so well.

And really, the one who needs copy far more than McCain is Obama. McCain is terrible at speechs but put him in a townhall meeting with no script and he beats Obama. Without a written speech, every other word is "uh".

That is pretty funny however, my grandfather was good at town hall meetings too. I loved him but wouldn't want him for president. At the age of 8 you wouldn't have known this but Ronald Reagan was one of the best known actors in America who came along at the right time for change (sound familiar). If our puppet in Iran (the Shah) had not been taken down and our people taken hostage, we might be talking a different situation here. I do remember the 60's and 70's very well. If we had the ten thousand news channels we have today and the truth about the Iran contra scandal was really known the teflon might have come off and we might have had a president Dukakis.

As you are aware by now, we are engaging in a exercise of futility cause I know I won't change your mind and there's no way in hell you will change my mind. It's all good though, in most countries, we don't even have this conversation.

Sure do. I also know as well he was not a true conservative by today's estimates. He flip flopped on abortion and immigration. He's not a God to me as he is to some conservative but I do believe in his overall views about the role of government. California has gone down hill ever since he left.

Hypotheticals.

And Lynden Johnson would probably never have been reelected for some of his actions concerning Vietnam. Jimmy Carter would have probably not been elected. JFK and his "Camelot" wouldn't have existed. You can go down the list.

For his time I believe he was extremely conservative. In the 50's he wholeheartedly embraced and publicly endorsed the McCarthy witch hunt, and this was before he became a politician. California was a police state when he was in charge if you talk to a lot of folks who lived there at the time. However, I have always said that he was one of the most effective presidents in history cause he got what he wanted done.

:bruce3:

OMG - the McCarthy witch hunt. So, finally we see the truth. Another Stalin supporter surfaces.

The previous 5 or 6 posts had been pretty valid and great discussion, but the McCarthy comment blew it. I suppose you're an Alger Hiss and Owen Lattimore fan, which will just open the divide farther and farther as far as your views and mine go. Its all good though - its discussion.

BTW - your avatar - 2008 Yankees - season over.

Go Rays.

That's because it was easier to be labeled as such even if you had pro immigration views and questionable abortion views. By today's standards, he wouldn't be a true conservative which I think is idiotic.

That list of those who did is extremely long and crossed all party lines especially since 50% of the American public were for it. Different times, different mindset.

Some would say its a nanny state now :)

I am anything but a Stalin supporter. I grew up in total fear of the Red scare and detested anything with a hammer and sickle. That being said Joe McCarthy was a power mad maniac who stomped on the 1st amendment and would persecute his mother if she disagreed with his stance. Imo he fostered the same type of persecution that the bastards in the Kremlin used against their people under the banner of being a patriot. That being said, if Douglas McArthur and General Patton had been listened to, maybe we wouldn't be having this discussion.

As far as the Yankees go, maybe it is over for this year but as a fan since 61, my passion doesn't waver, we've had rough times before but always come back to have a periodic reign of terror. Good luck to the Rays, they've made some great moves and are having a great season. let's see if they can close the deal.

:bruce3:

Baseball - yep, the Rays have surprised. Hank and the Yanks will go on a spending spree this winter and be right back in contention next year. Problem for them and Boston is that the Rays smartly signed most of those young guys to long term deals and pitching and defense doesn't slump, in fact, for TB, it'll get better next year when David Price jumps into the rotation. September will be rough - if the Rays win the AL East, I think they get to the WS. Personal opinion - thats all.

McCarthy had his issues - that is true, but there were alot of so-called Americans sympathizing with the Russians and their stances. As J Peterman said though - entirely different timeframe/mindset. Unfortunately - we've neglected them for the past 20 years and BAM - here they are again. The Bear was hibernating - not dead. There are some very serious times ahead..............
who do you want answering that phone call at 3AM?
