supplement companies coming up short of servings on label

ive began to notice a lot of the supplemets that are in a powder form (ex: aminos, protein powder, no2, etc) do not contain the number of servings as listed by the companies.

i started noticing this when i thought i was going through my protein powders pretty fast. so i started counting how many servings i got per item. every time i used that item i would make a tally mark on the side. i would also date it when i started using the product. so say protein powder. say it has 60 servings. i know for a fact i use it daily at 2 level scoops a day. that should last me 30 days. unfortunately i started noticing a lot of supplements were failing to give me correct serving amounts.

the following supplements i noticed were coming up short on servings:
-scivation xtend
-dymatize elite whey
-dymatize 12 hour elite whey

these 3 are my everyday supplements. i use them religiously. my judgments are not souly made on just ONE container from each, but 3 containers. i noticed a 90 serving xtend was only giving me roughly 72 level scoops. dymatize elite whey roughly 55 level scoops. and the dymatize 12 hour whey was roughly 51-52 level coops.

you probably never pay attention or notice it, but next time you order something just pay attention to it. you may be surprised your getting cut short by supplement companies. you may not think its a big deal, but when supplements are $.50-1.00 a serving, that adds up!

***i would like to hear your thoughts on this subject. if it has happened to you, or you have noticed the same thing occurring please speak up. thanks***

This will not end well.....

First, the servings are listed by weight, a scoop measures volume, therefore a scoop can only come close to, not exactly, the weight needed per serving. You may get more or less than you need.

Second, many products don't use level scoops, they have fill lines in the scoop that you should be using.

Third, have you tried contacting these companies before you decided to uncover their master plan to rip consumers off?

A better way to test your hypothesis would be to buy those supplements, buy an accurate scale, weight the contents of the container, and divide that by the weight per serving. That will give you servings per container, which you can compare with the label.

I notice the same thing all the time actually but theres not much u can do about it...i think the company should pay a little more attention to that but when a product is mass produced it is VERY hard to get them all exactly the same...:worried:

i will try this out. thanks

Scivation has some of the best customer service out there. If you contact Marc he will take care of it.

In terms of cap, I started weighing my caps and found a few under-weight... I emailed the companies and they sent me freebies!

I was willing to film the weighing and even open the new bottles to test them..

I got the scales, always good to weigh.. some companies r +200-300mg.. others were under by 100-200mg!!

:)

It is great to hear/see somebody state this with such common sense. For the record, most [reputable] companies are using cGMP manufacturers, and therefore the weight-accuracy is to the milligram. Often times - and this is the case with Jac3kd, for example - the weight of each individual tub is verified by hand, in addition to several machine-based weight-checks.

i have used three bottles of jacked during the initial run and can verify USP Labs honors their product's label. good job!

I know the economy is down, but these companies make enough money that they shouldn't cut corners.

Just eat whole nutritious meals and save the hassle and your money.

I use All The Whey micellular casien and the container says 80 servings and I made a mark on the container every time I used a scoop and instead of 80 servings per container
I got 90 servings which I thought was great and when you open the container it is filled
all the way to the top with protein you can barely fit a scooper in there. I also use
X-Tend and that container also comes packed to the top with powder and that also
has no room for a scooper because of the amount of powder in the container so I havn't
had any issues with either of these two products. Also ATW is the only company that
gives you 80 servings for their 5lb containers no matter what flavor it is as opposed to
OP Nut. and Dymatize give you less servings depending on the flavor which I think sucks
and thats why ATW gets my protein business.
