Snag gets FINAFLEXed on Road to Nationals

It's funny, Steve, I saw this coming all along. Even with that being said, the dramatic and continued progress is still catching me off guard with every update pic.

yes, you did see this coming..have to give credit where credit is due
I figured it would be awesome don't get me wrong - combined with my approach, I feel I am just doing everything right..but no way shape or form did I see this level happening tbh - when you told me you thought I would hit 2%, I really thought you were nuts......
now, I know that is not only possibility, but pretty much done deal ;) very intuitive of you

To hit the 2%.....unbelievable.....freakin awesome....I know you' re going to pull it off!!!

Speechless. The leg pic is just crazy. I don't think I have ever seen anything like that before
thanks - and I have never quite been to this stage before, so kinda makes two of us :D

I am hopeful! think I still have some big progress coming over the next week with dietary/slight water/slight sodium tweaks toward end, conceivable could lose addtl 1% in just final 2 days

thank you sir

Looking good bro. Lean and mean.

What cycle are you coming off of?
I looked back at the start of this log, but didn't see it mentioned.
coming off of? I am still on :p
you'd have to go thru the thread to see everything I have done, it has changed thruout the 13 week prep but essentially most of time have utilized FINAFLEX product combination only, exception being 3 week run on mechabol awhile back, then the trenavar/epi combo last 5 weeks here at end - really the most hardcore part of the whole process
between mecha and this final approach, utilized 4-product combination of 1-Alpha/1-Andro/550XD/EpiV
and I have used either 1-Andro, 1-Alpha, or a combination of the two, all the way thru, as my test base
relatively mild overall - have experienced no lethargy issues/negative sides, thruout entire process
(well, unless you count lack of sleep! but that may be from other issues in general) :)

Would you say the sleeplessness is mainly due to dieting to such a low body fat percentage? I've seen some people report sleep problems in their own preps from time to time I was just curious as to how common it actually is.

I had this problem the last two weeks or so of my prep.

could be :dunno:
I don't sleep much normally, 5-6hrs/night usually (7hrs is longgg time for me)..just a bit worse these days, and more consistently so at that
could be low bf levels..my own guess would be my mind has been working in overdrive almost entire time, thinking thoroughly about every part of my process, at every step of way - not worrying, just thinking, forever thinking..

^ This is how I feel at my leanest as well and it seemed/felt 'normal' to me. For instance, much like you've mentioned here in the log, after 4-6hrs of sleep I often feel rested and ready to take on the day. It just seems like my body doesn't need as much sleep and can handle more throughout the day. I don't mind at all as it insures I'm extra productive ;)

your absolutely unreal!!! like Im shocked you don't have a pro card already!

Im gonna be looking for you at the nationals- if you don't win, then im gonna...I dunno sleep with you or something!

but either way dude I just went through all 74 pages and you really are an inspiration! cant wait to see you on stage!

exactly bro - if you never sleep, you end up getting all kinds of things done lol :D
I like it, personally..never wanna be one of the guys that sleeps 40% of his life away
good insight from you here, again

you will be there? well very cool, look forward to meeting you!
I'll be coming solo, and won't know many ppl (couple in the show, one competitor who beat me last yr, chuck Williams, will be there, he's pretty cool, and our FINAFLEX sponsored athlete eboni Wilson) - so it'll be cool to have some guys to chat with

actually got 7hrs sleep last night, woke up 3x total (2x to pee) - needed it, prolly back to 3-4hrs again tonight  .. at least I am recharged for today - feel great! (and no stiff joints today at all, must have been blip yesterday morn)

last shoulder/arm day coming up in couple hrs - this feels very good, makes me know we are very close to the end here

fasted cardio coming up shortly, 30min LISS .. i'm off to hit it :run:

Small world I know chuck. Well more of a friend of a friend only spoke to him a couple times.

Whats your weight class this time around?? And how dar are you until you get your pro card??

Whats your weight class this time around??
lt-heavy
only reason I dropped to middle last yr (and it was JUST under the 176.25 mark anyway) was because I had to crash diet last 10-14 days or so, found myself behind in the prep due to various reasons .. lost good 5lbs of muscle in process, was horrible
And how dar are you until you get your pro card??
I really do not know what you are saying here :p

I see, what a hustler! :P

I sleep like the kid that I am.

Meant to say how far from your getting a pro card. If you win this you will have it wont you??

he's the guy who finished first in our class last yr at the qualifier, I finished second..we were both middleweights then
a lot of ppl know (or know of) chuck :D

I was unaware of that. I believe he just got done doing a show in vegas a couple weeks back a buddy of mine was sayin. Im sure alot of people know of him its hard to.miss that little big guy lol

oh..yes if I win my class, then I am awarded pro card
each weight division winner is awarded one + the masters division winner
I do not have to win the overall - tho it will be fun to compete for it! :)

indeed - dude is like 5'2" or something? :p he makes me look tall
he looks good tho, very thick, and he poses great, smooth & fluid, classic movements
he better bring more refined conditioning to the table to this one tho, middle is going to be extremely tough to win; I guess matt porter has a guy in middle will be there, ex-powerlifter who matt says just looks phenomenal..if chuck doesn't dial in things a bit, he will have a tough time
he's been around for awhile now, think he already has competed in at least 1-2 national-level shows, still trying to get that pro card

dinner tonight

4oz teriyaki marinated pink salmon
1/4c jasmine rice + 1/2TBS butter
yellow bell pepper w/ salt & pepper

hadn't had salmon in weeks, had a hankering for it, so was able to fit it in this day
ooo, my - this freaking meal was just amazing

I've spent the past 2 days trying to catch up in this thread. .. I've got 10 pages to go! I was just wondering if maybe something could persuade you to create a menu of snagalicious entrees, complete with macro count!

you da man..damn novel, this thread is
I was just wondering if maybe something could persuade you to create a menu of snagalicious entrees, complete with macro count!
nope, cannot be persuaded to do that, but thanks for your kind sentiment
I post pics of some meals, because some guys do enjoy that.. but more importantly for me - it gives an idea of things I am eating, what you can do yourself, and how consistent I am in my approach
my function here is as an employee of FINAFLEX, and to embrace their goals, and provide customer service for their products..it is not to do side threads, promoting my ideas on nutrition in complex detail
so, no interest in doing such, on my part..and more importantly: no time! I put in quite a bit of time on various forums as it is; am not trying to increase my workload here :)

FINAL WEEK!! PEAK WEEK IS HERE! sweet :)

look pretty decent this morning, very dry and on-point..weight upon rising is 185 even
I did not like the training session from yesterday, cut a few things short as I was just not feeling it (may have been a mental letdown, knowing it was my last training session before glycogen depletion forays..)
and so, I was back for another shoulder/arms session ~1030 last night, different exercises utilized, slow & strict movement, holding contractions at concentric points of reps..was actually a better session here, than was the one earlier - I guess I hit my second wind

fasted cardio this morning, ended up doing 15min HIIT (sprinting) and following with 25min LISS, breakfast followed 20min later..cals are reduced slightly this day, carbs are at 175g, a bit of a disappointment after my slightly higher cal/255g carb day yesterday - that was fun :D no worries tho, i really do not mind, this is the most carbs i have utilized thruout a prep, than i have ever even approached using before, and i have been very well pleased with the results and the process, at all points..hell even 175 would be rather unheard of on too many days for me, in previous preps - and here i am bitching about that since it is among my lower days in this prep!

same day as today, on tap for tomorrow, before slight manipulation of cal increase/carb bump gets me back to usual cal load + 255g carbs once more..then, it's slight maneuverings downward thruout week, until FRI rolls around..water and salt will remain high until FRI as well

looking forward to finishing this thing off strongly gentlemen - it's gonna be a beautiful week

I enjoy seeing the pics of the meals as it gives an idea of the precision of your diet/eating but also shows that you don't necessarily have to suffer when getting into, quite literally, extreme condition. Something I tell people all the time about dieting is that nobody forces us to put anything in our mouths and we consciously make the decision to eat whatever we choose to eat. Believe me Snag, I'm not taking anything at all away from you by saying this because you are absolutely killing it, but the diet component is not rocket science. You're proving it with every pic you post of your meals. We can all sit back and say 'Damn, I wish I look like that someday' and the reality is, we can. We can, and we can do it while working hard and eating good food with precision. Obviously, as you've mentioned a number of times here, we're the benefactors or witnessing your years of experience getting this dialed in. Having the patience, time and desire to try the numerous methods you have to get to this point is not easy. These approaches aren't based on short term results - you have to put weeks or months of work into them to determine if it works or not. Few have the motivation to do this. Looking forward to the final results and you ultimately getting your pro card. Enjoy every gram of those carbs this week!

insightful stuff from you sir - I am impressed once again :)
and no - diet is not rocket science, at all..ppl make it much more complicated than it need be (I have been guilty of this myself, at some points in my life..is always a learning process)
but if I could impart just ONE point - and I have made it here before, will again because it is crucial to the topic at hand - working within a structured caloric range and understanding your own unique metabolism, are only a smaller part of the overall process..much more impactful, are the MICROS of nutrition factors, of those calories you are ingesting
far too many ppl do not get this, think that cals in/cals out are what it is all about, and look to fit as much junk and what they consider "fun tasty foods", into their diet -- simply, they are defeating the whole purpose and point in structuring those cals to begin with!
there are many reasons for this; essentially tho, it boils down to two main ones:
#1 - too much (mis)information exists out there, by ppl simply not qualified to be spouting the things they are, on nutrition
#2 - ppl are lazy and spoiled! a lifetime of sh1tty nutritional choices has made them unaware of the value of what good nutrition is all about...choosing to eat quality, nutritious foods is a lifechange approach; most ppl do not have the willpower or self-control, to embrace this fact
and I find that very sad

But I haven't even started persuading yet! :-D
that scares me, sir :scared:

Would you say, though, that the way you came to the realization that you DON'T have to over think your diet was after you HAD been over thinking your diet? I mean you almost have to do that before you can know that it's not necessary. If I didn't over think my diet now I would probably make bad choices because I would somehow convince myself that what I was eating is okay (I know I've done this before lol).

Umm... Hey snags... did you know you have tree trunks growing out of your torso. Might wanna get that checked out.

sure, could be one way to grow
understand man, I did not develop these ideas and the level of understanding I feel I have, overnight or w/o much trial & error
it has taken a long time to get here - I mean I've had very good understanding of diet for a long while, but it was based in (needless) complication there for awhile..i guess that is what I am trying to say
do I see the complications I gave myself as a growth process? no, not really, in fact I think it slowed my progression, I got complacent
is that to say it would be same process for everyone else? not at all

You are one shredded dude.all the best in the contest snag. I believe you got these. I can't believe you train like you do, take care of the boards and what else you have to do.inspirational sir.

Cannot wait to see you once you add more carbs in and pull a little more water..

The difference from carbing up alone will be drastic

Good god man... that is simply awesome.

Holy snags....sharp bro...every muscle shows....like the sartorius...awesome.

gracias gents, and very excited, very pleased with the process, could not be happier with where I sit right now

aceroni - yes you are correct, the tweaks in the diet/water/salt will have dramatic effect when you are amazingly lean - I cannot wait!
see below for small example of action you are speaking of, pic taken after my 50g carb meal (shown) but still 3g water and 6g salt in diet today, carbs 175g when it's all over

this was 7oz top sirloin, pan-fried (went out to fire up grill, out of propane)
not shown 2 plain rice cakes

also went shopping today - spent $200 on things i'm stocking up for for lean bulk grow time :yup:
lots of good stuff - all kinds different rices, quinoa, 10 packages Bob's Red Mill steel-cut oats, some organic macaroni and a sh1t-ton of chunk tuna (I will be having tuna mac & cheese quite frequently, made with some butter and smidge of water in place of milk), a 3lb spare rib with big Sweet Baby Ray's bbq (son loves ribs, so do I but will eat sparingly - we'll split this one), some Kashi pizzas, bunch of Quaker popped rice cakes, veggie chips, sweet potato chips, frozen sweet potatoes (for when I am lazy or don't have real on hand), lots of lean meats (sirloin/93% turkey/canadian bacon/ham/chicken breast), multiple varieties Ezekiel breads .. then for fats I got ~4gal almond and coconut milks, some almond butter, sunflower seed butter, and natty PB.. a few other odds & ends

with my existing stockpile of lean meats, triscuits (15 boxes), cereals (20+ boxes), other rice cakes, extra-virgin coconut butter, various nuts (cashews and almonds mostly) and junk-food extras (lot of bars, variety but a ton of metRX big colossal; wheat thins, couple bags of Doritos jacked flavs :o), and the obligatory couple cases diet sodas (mostly mountain dews) I figure I am well-set for months, literally - only thing I need to buy will be fresh produce, and almond/coconut milks when I run out

whew....I am hungry now, for some reason
