Snag gets FINAFLEXed on Road to Nationals

Snags - during your HIIT/LISS session, is there an approx. amount of calories you're looking to burn? I'm guessing it's in the ~400 range based on time and intensity. What's your ultimate goal with the cardio? Keep metabolism elevated? Are you running much of a deficit at this point? Just curious as to your balancing act here as you're maintaining in that 185lb range.

nice ;) and yes, you pretty much pegged the cal-burn mark, simply to keep everything pushing toward small fat-loss, while concurrently maintaining/solidifying muscle stores -- it is a fine balancing act at this point, surely..weight did drop to 184.5 upon rising today, this actually surprised me
my intent was to keep cals steady thruout week and just shift macros around progressively, to set up final day; now, going after slightly ever more fat-loss as I really want to attain absurdly low bf level, I will also slightly trim cals thruout week, but again: bottom line, I've got my metabolism pegged right where I want it right now, and am mastering it with what I want to accomplish
never been in the situation before, where I can do so much play in the last week/2 weeks, to get exactly what look I am after; always had to bust ass (to varying degrees) to finish up/catch up
this is simply, quite fun stuff, here :)

I have seriously fallen in lust with this meal....
will have another just like later today..up next is another top sirloin steak tho, mmmm

2 toasted slices Ezekiel bread
4oz ground extra lean turkey breast
2oz ham
Dijon w/ chardonnay mustard
1 bell pepper w/ salt & pepper (couple slices of it on sandwich)
~350cal, 30g carbs/4g fat

And the shrink wrapping begins!!

That has always been my favorite part of carb cycling- after a few low carb days your skin gets real tight then once you carb back up, BOOM! You look so lean and so full.

YO BRO!!!!!!!!

STILL LOOKIN LIKE A JACKEDASAURUS REX!!!

are all your HIIT session sprint/stop or do you do other things?

and get in my log pecker head-were lonely in there without the input and presence of the snags!

k i'll be in there to watch

and the HIIT - I only just started that, 2x this w/e now, is sprint/walk/sprint/walk
been rolling with LISS, just fine, till now..lookin for a lil more finishing touch/striations on da wheels

mmmm, steak

geese i love steak. and i like the sprint/walk cycle...

if you think your balls are big do it with a chute/sled/ or vest...just sayin ;)

I picked up some honey Dijon mustard cuz of this thread. :)

stuff's the bomb, ain't it? :D
and pretty clean too, not slathered in honey, nice formulation
the Dijon w/ chardonnay is delish too - definitely a different taste, but goes great on a lot of things
I can actually go with either at any time, depending on what mood i'm in/what taste i'm going for

i've done it uphill before - that count?
I bet the added weight is ridiculous

that works great too...and makes it easy on the knees and hammys

running with a 'chute is my favorite....It adds the perfect amount of resistance to your sprints because the force being applied against you is directly proportional to how hard your digging in a sprinting. if you look at a strength/force bellecurve, running with a 'chute almost matches it perfectly. Its a great way to add just that little bit of extra mmphh to your legs days. the added denisity and localized fat loss isnt bad either ;)

calves lookin kinda freaky tonight, split coming in nicely
this, on a low-carb day..diet gets fun for tomorrow, looking forward to 250g carbs and a cal-bump

yeah we're starting to see a little more of the finished product as I maneuver diet thruout week
weight was shocking this morning tho - 182.5, was like whoaa

yeah we'll see on the drop - not really concerned about weight, I just scratch my head that I cannot peg where it is coming from fully
still on track - still gonna finish better than I had even imagined

calves lookin a little better too, carbs doing me some justice
gonna look better, leaner, and more solid everyday thruout the week - this gon be good

Crazy how the calves keep showing progress! Theres not much fat/skin there to begin with but the changes you're showing are prominent.

Excellent snags...filling up and drying out simultaneously.
This will be good.
Judging from the pic the weight change is all water, maybe a little glycogen.

I remember I ended up dropping more than I expected peak week when I pulled my water out.. A good ~7lbs

yes - small tweaks, heading downward, thruout the week..this is my high day, until it comes back again on Friday (in different form somewhat tho)..don't need to push much, to continue to make progress

yes exactly - it is always crazy how you lose weight you do not think you will lose, making these maneuvers..as I have said over and over: weight does not mean a thing! now, the only exception to that would be, in the unlikely scenario I come in ~178 (low point bottom of lt heavy), and some monster who is close to my conditioning comes in ~190 or something like that -- that would be pretty tough to overcome
but, I am a far cry from that right now; remember my weight is always fasted state upon rising; show weigh-ins are 7-8p, so even right now, if we go conservatively with 2.5lbs picked up thru the day from eating, that puts me ~185..
meh, it is what it is - I still am not worried :D

this meal to die for

1.5 serving (66g) steel cut oats, with 1/2TBS almond butter and 1/2c almond milk, sprinkled w/ cinnamon
4oz turkey breast, with Dijon chardonnay/wasabi mix
pepper w/ salt & pepper

yum!

ahem, well....interesting turn of events last night, let me share

first of all: I am going to make an effort to slip into the middleweights .. I know I know, I been saying weight doesn't matter, but there is a reason for this
so I was talking with my dude matt porter, and (ironically) he tells me that my one fear - I will be low lt-heavy and there will not possibly, but rather probably in all likelihood, be not one but at least 2 guys who cut weight to slip in the top of the lt heavy class
upon looking up couple of these guys, pretty much sealed my decision; so I will do to the middles, what these guys would have done to me in the lt heavies, LOL..and it shouldn't be that hard to maneuver at all, couple tweaks in a couple different categories (small diet adjustment, cardio maintaining/increasing slightly over current levels instead of tapering down as originally planned, and skewing my meals/water a bit on thursday before weigh-in)
at 2-3% bodyfat, weight is gonna be pretty low as it is, a tad lower than I thought; these adjustments should do the trick, and there is enough time thur night/all day fri/6hrs Saturday before pre-judging to get back on track & fill back up, conceivably coming in showtime @180ish
that would make me a pretty freaky middle, and give me the best chance to win a class - remember I do not have to win overall for this pro card, simply my weight class

and so, there it is...we begin to implement these things today..will see how it goes

What will weight have to be at for weigh ins?
under 176 1/4 :yikes:
is only temporary, and I think can be done not too difficult - weight upon rising today 182, so that leaves me ~60hrs to drop 6lbs, and was gonna drop a bit anyway with reduced cals as planned right now, dialing in low bf
gonna be close; if I miss it, I miss it

I think it's a great plan sir. Much better chances when you're sitting at the top of the weight class as opposed to the bottom.

And you can easily make it I'd bet when you cut water you'll drop close to the six pounds. Be completely depleted at weigh INS. Boom!

It'll only shrink wrap you more. Providing you can fill back out in time you're going to be disgusting

Edit. I ended up doing that for my last show, sneaking into light weights by a 1/4 lb. I was ****ting my pants at weigh ins, as I watched the scale climb

Might have to cut off the hair to make weight :)

lol on the scale climb :p
yes, I agree with you - middles are no joke, but I would be supremely confident in the middles vs. low-end of next class..i mean, there are gonna be some monsters sitting at the top of lt heavies, coming in not quite my condition but lean enough - and thick! I don't know if I can compete with that tbh
plus, middles would give me chance to get some revenge on chuck Williams ahahaa, assuming he's not moving up to lt heavies himself (doubtful I would think)
I am embracing the plan indeed :)

Might have to cut off the hair to make weight :)
thought about that, seriously
LOL :D

Honestly you probably should just so you can make weight.

Don't get me wrong, I love My long hair it's amazing.

But snags you've worked far too hard for your hair to prevent you from making weight.. And it could make that half pound difference

Thats awesome! Literally lol'd sitting in a restaurant with the kids. You've come this far & it always grows back - kill this thing!

lmao
meh, not as much weight there as what you think - prolly 1 to 1.5oz, 2 tops
every little bit tho, wth..besides, couldn't keep growing it forever, was not the plan anyway
really, I like short hair; was just enjoying my longness

Shorter hair looks nice on you Snagz!

Shorter hair looks nice on you Snagz!
well thank you my dear
Holy hell, you are good at this. Looking good bro! And I am digging the hair!
Holy shiz you look badass and scary...you win
thanks guys
and actually - I DO look rather immense and ginormous with short hair, seriously, makes a world of difference
if I pull off the weight drop, I mean....not being cawky, but total seriousness here:
NO ONE will be able to touch me in middles
it is a good day :)

Like the hair....but, if you need to lose some more lbs, you can always go for a coup edge or coup monte;)

New dew suits you Snags... Really like your plan of going for the middles. Good luck with those last few pounds. We all know you have this f*cker in the bag!

By the way....really a brilliant plan on the weight class change.

Feel sorry for the other competitors in that class.....lol

Sorry if I missed this, but how tall are you snags?

With your conditioning at the top of the class you will be hard to beat, for sure

Just caught back up. Epic. It's like a soap opera, except enjoyable....

Sometimes you have to do what it takes to get thru, & I think the haircut was a good plan when you're so close to the cutoff weight. Keep slaying this big dawg.
