SkRaw85 Training Log

I imagine West Side and Elite FTS are pretty close in quality / resistance. Wouldn't surprise me if they used the same manufacturer with private labeling.

The Westside blue heavies we have seem really high quality, and extremely similar tension to my Elite blue heavies, but they do look and feel different. Elites are kind of powdered, while the WSBB are glossy. Both slide and work equally well, but the WSBB are more “slippery”.

Powdery or slick. First world problems 🤣

Yeah no doubt.

These are the cheapies I got from Amazon for 31.99 a pack and i got 2. So far they work but do feel a little different, and I definitely don't expect them to last as long as my Elite FTS did. I bet most of the cheaper ones are very similar as well.

Can you share the link? I still do like my cheapies for vacations and various warmups.

I like the powder feel. My black is sooo rugged.

Certainly! Invalid Link Removed

I actually got 2 sets so I could use them for all kinds of things like crossovers and the like. I actually plan to set up 2 studs on the wall with attachment loops almost like a cross over station so I can increase my use of them.

These are more glossy as opposed to matte.

Tan some Apex Alchemy Triton with Daft Pump today. Took everything I had not to stack plates for heavy bench triples lol. A few more weeks and it’s back to the conjugate grind.

Quickie. Slept like garbage and couldn’t find my dead groove so left it at 385. I’ll try and get some gripper work in today after all my to do’s.

Alright, my bench demon needs released. It’s been about 5-6 years since I ran a bench specific cycle. It is time. Last time I used a bastardized conjugate style to get my first 4 plate bench. I need to surpass my current 445 PR. I’ll have a plan, soon, very soon. LFG!!!

I’ll bring the Nutella shakes!!! Time to add another daily meal. Bodyweight is guaranteed benchpress gains. No lift responds more linearly to drugs & bodyweight.

Benchblockz are perfect, they’ve served me well for years. Got my first 300lb press with a board routine using one. I used mine last prep on for close-grip 2-board & 1-board work (I have both the 2-5 & 1/2-1 blocks).

Bro you know me and those milkshakes! I honestly kinda forgot about benchblockz and just randomly remembered the other morning.

Had to go back and check pics for a date, about 4.5 years since my L5 was slipped and did a bench focus cycle with TD trest to get that first 4 plater. That was a big day at 6:19 am lol.

Still putting together PED protocol as this will most certainly turn in to a blast, trest cruise, trest blast.

Between you and Hyde I'm gonna end up putting on 30lbs instead of cutting 10.

Hey I didn’t say you need to blend up Nutella; that’s just what I did when I had to get over 5,000 calories daily and I didn’t want to eat lol. That’s the final resort, cranking up sugar & vegetable oils. Guaranteed metabolic disorder!!!

I’m down 30lbs since and pushing for under 230 by Christmas!

You gonna mess around and start seeing your abs sometime in January and start getting that
Mariusz Pudzianowski look.💪😎

I needed this session. Finally feeling halfway human again. Quick little getaway with my bride this Sunday-Tuesday then it’s time to put the plan to action.

I bet those static holds barbecued your traps & lats! I have never thought to do them but I’m sure it would help build stability. I have a PDF called Gear by Dave Kirschen discussing how to implement multiply lifting gear. There’s a section written by Barzeen on shirts where he discusses building both the strength & muscle connection to keep the upper back tight enough for a huge bench.

One of the drills he recommends is trying to get and stay maximally tight in the upper back and then just benching 135x30 for 2-3 sets, focusing on maintaining that level of tension the entire time.

If you have any interest in reading it, you can PM me & I’ll find you a download link. I’ve watched Barzeen bench at the Arnold & he’s a wizard.

Enjoy your together time!

Tell me more how you setup and execute this static hold, please.

I’m assuming you just unrack and hold it like prior to a maximal benchpress attempt, maximum contraction/tightness.

Ok, like walking out a really heavy squat. I was picturing a static hold at the bottom, like paused. Thanks.

I know I’ve seen that title somewhere but never read. I’d definitely be interested!

I rack and hold at top position and maintain lat, bicep, shoulder girdle tension for prescribed time. These have a few purposes really, this was a little overload training. But, for mental circus tricks, a guy can unrack a weight well above his intended bench, hold for a few, rerack, take off a few lbs and see how fast it flies!

Aha! I do remember skimming over this a while back. I’ll have a proper read the next few days while I’m off

It’s an cool read, easily the best explanation on how to use the gear I’ve seen. I knew a lot of random nuggets from a decade of being in the right place or listening to the right thing at the right time, but this is way more succinct.

Anyway, the table of contents is great - just jump to the bench section. The book is written like a proper manual, no need to read in order.

If I read this manual and watch Jimmy Kolb’s 1320 bench video at the same time I guarantee you I will buy a multiply shirt lol. That’s gotta feel cool below all that iron

The new unlimited band shirts Kolb uses, by all accounts, have next to zero learning curve. They are not like traditional multiply, like a Super Phenom or Overkill. You can basically just use them, like a slingshot, and get under weights that can snap your wrists when you haven’t trained with a lot of overload. It sounds like you need less lats because the groove is much less important, and more triceps because they operate more like benching with a reverse band.

So if you really do want to get one, start doing lots of overload work prior, or get a looser traditional shirt first for a while.

The recent Table Talk with AJ Roberts he talks a good bit about how he’s way weaker now after a long layoff from competition, but already going for a lifetime PR because the band shirts are so wild.

Those band shirts seem to be a touchy subject for the diehard geared lifters. I believe some feds allow and some don’t? Dave Hoff is not impressed 🤣

My only real hesitation is the way I train solo and geared lifting really needs a consistent crew. Unless a guy is a complete sociopath. Probably snag a mad dog slingshot in a few weeks and see how that goes.

Protein requirements for the next 4 days have been reached on the last 2 hours. Currently sitting on the shitter sweating like a whore on DNP in a confession booth. I wouldn’t have it any other way.
