SkRaw85 Training Log

Excellent garage gym idea on the pull down!

What are you going to do with the chains?

Thanks! Just kind of winged it with that one lol. But it was surprisingly effective. Endless variations and tensions possible as well! The hold at the bottom was a good burn.
Chains I will be using for SBD, similar to bands. Can also be used for speed bench. I’ll post pics/vids when I apply.

Took the kiddo to the trampoline park cuz it’s been a while and Hyde’s post reminded me. Gassed out the kid (and me too really) and he wanted Greek afterwards. Fine by me! I’m always down to crush lamb and gyro meat.

And fries. Did I mention fries?

Band pegs look good on the platform (food looking legit as well). I also like the Pulldown setup. I have hung average bands single-looped from the yoke and used them sitting on the ground like a baby, but they’re fairly easy & more of a warmup for pull-ups on the yoke.

How heavy is each chain? Mine are about 17.5lbs per chain. I can take a pic tomorrow if you want to see them.

Only had 3/8” unfortunately :(
7 lbs a piece so I got 4. Will either be buying a bunch more and bigger carabiners or heading to tractor supply for some 5/8” lengths. Regardless, these will be well suited for speed bench days as is. I’ll be doing some shopping around to see what I can find and go from there. I have no problem having 8 chains dangling if need be, cool sounds effects lol

I’m not paying rogue or spud prices for a pair of chains either. That’s just insane.

I bought mine from a guy who’s box he was coaching at was closing up; they were like new and he would not part with them for any less than $240. They have never rusted and are serious tanks, just as good as 6 years ago when I got them.

I have barely used them since we moved into our house because of the noise they make, but I honestly love lifting against chain. It feels totally unique, and in the best way. It’s not at all like bands or with gear which rewards lifting faster due to kinetics. Speed is irrelevant. The higher the bar rises, the heavier it gets, relentlessly and consistently all the way up.

Only had gyro a few times, but it’s one of the best meals you can get 🔥 heavy though

Been pinning e4d this cycle. As of today, reverting back to e3d. Day 4 has been felt in terms of test half life. Onward!

Haven’t used chains since my old powerlifting gym closed. It’s going to be boner-ific! Love the stimulus on max effort days with them. It’s kind of unorthodox but I swear using them on speed days really activates stabilizer muscle groups.

We have a big business here with transport by ocean, so there is a company here that sells massive chain. I spoke to them about 7 years ago and they were going to cut me a deal on their scraps. Scraps being anything that isn’t 20+ feet in length. Dummy me, I never went back and capitalized. It may be time for that revisit.

Do it! Could be a gold mine

Daikon and iron, a lot of it moving here, lol.

Well done — the lifting and the eating!

Dammit, I meant to write, “daikon, trest, tiger prawns, and iron …”. You are a renaissance man!

Don’t forget a big anchor chain to drag backwards like in a strongman comp Probably kinda noisy though, and a big footprint.

Had to substitute repetitive band work for my 2 dynamic days last week as I was working like a thoroughbred. It was lucrative but exhausting. Sometimes you have to take financial gains as well for the family.

I dropped anadrol 3/16. Will use 50 mg pwo on some heavy days, but not daily use. Upping trest to 390mg next pin.

My soul really wants to rip some heavy deads next session, I need it. I am going to deviate in order to fulfill this selfish desire. Adaptive training???

I call it a deload

**** that. Y’all might never see me heavy deadlift again outside of a meet.

Why’d you drop the drol?

I would do the pulls against bands, or maybe a higher rack pull (like 15”, below the knees). Some kind of variation that won’t kill your nervous system so bad and still build strength.

Running low lol.
I was thinking heavy triples for deads.

Awesome album🤘🤘 Nice work too man!

I knew you were going to max out…lol

Why beltless? Just don’t care for it?

Yeah, ‘twas therapy time. I like to build a good solid base beltless and strapless. Then when I put on the straps and brace against the belt it’s like cheating

I do gotta get back in the whole groove of my setup with belt (straps especially) as it kills my bracing. With the gears I like to start on my knees and kinda jump up and go once I’m tied in.

Nice pulling man, particularly beltlessly!

Great work in here, nice pulling!

Yeah sometimes you just have to lift.

It’s been my experience that getting better beltless has very little transfer to raising my absolute max, just my base safety.

Great to incorporate some beltless stuff often to a reasonable degree to have a higher base of core strength, better bracing habits for general movement. But raising my beltless max doesn’t then allow me to put a belt on and suddenly get 40 more lbs. YMMV.

Setting up tight with straps is definitely it’s own skill. When I was an over/under grip guy I really relied on bracing at the top, dropping down fast and building a fake eccentric to create a big initial pop, but that isn’t something you can do with hook or straps so you have to be able to set up & brace in a more compromised position.

4 plate bench on the Duffalo bar today. Not quite a PR, but I’m counting it cuz it’s been a while. I think my PR was 435 (lost my old pr log when I got a new phone a while back, lesson learned, spreadsheets now saved to hardrive and multiple clouds). Feeling good, I have been drowning some personal demons these past few days. Didn’t even pop anadrol today and I had plenty of coal for the furnace. Onward!

Bodyweight 231. Introduce tren hex this morn @ 150mg per week. Current complete stack:
420 test e, 390 trest Dec, 150 tren hex.

Thanks! Been a while since I threw up a single on the Duffalo. Felt smooth

TD Smash just tore his bicep pressing a 600lb Larsen press on a Duffalo. He actually hit it fine, wasn’t happy with it, so he took it again and that’s when it tore.

There’s no point to this story, other than you can watch a 600lb Larsen press on a Duffalo bad happen if you search for it and its awesome.
