For blu ray, just bite the bullet and get a ps3. All in one. Gives you netflix, internet connectivity, web browsing and playstation store download capabilities.

Unless you are not a gamer like me then there are better bluray and Internet connectivity products out there. There was a time when the play station was the best and most affordable but not anymore and as I said previous is you don't game you'd be better off with the other options.

Is that based on the old ps3 or the new ps3 model? I'm not a gamer either but find the new ps3 well worth the investment.

Any ps3. I've got the top of the line Sony bluray (with exception of those sony just announced at CES) for a little under half the cost of ps3. Has the same user interface, bluray, all the same online content, search the web, pretty sure faster loading times, ability to plug USB in and play videos/pics etc off of thumb drives and external hard drives. Just can't play games. So since I wouldn't play games anyways I save 100 dollars and more. I think the top Samsung or maybe it was pioneer has even more web content than mine/ps3 and truthfully a better interface.

Sony is a good choice. Can't go wrong with the makers of the technology. For the record though, you can do all those things you listed with the ps3 ;). I downloaded all 6 seasons of dr. Who and transferred it back and forth from external hard drive to ps3 to rearrange memory space. Should have used a common USB drive as it would have been easier to modify and cheaper but I figure I'll get my moneys worth.

Btw here's the link to Roku. It's smaller than the apple tv. I mean it really is the size of a hockey puck.

That needs to be a special and aired

Been thinking about this today for some time. Yes, I'm that bored... If I had to pick a winner, it'd be the weeping angels. The Silence have been around since the "beginning", but not necessarily the same "beginning" as the Angels. Reference Silence in the "Impossible Astronaut", they have been around from the beginning to shape humanity. Reference the Sally Sparrow episode, the Silence have been around since the beginning of the Universe.

However, the Silence - meaning that species and not the religious movement (citation: The Girl Who Waited) - are more than likely mortal beings. The Angels, being quantum locked and ageless, would ultimately endure. One might argue that all of the angels were sucked into the rift (Age of Angels), but that would only include those on that particular planet plus the one that was 'captured' in the vessel that crashed. However, there are still 4 known Angels locked in basement, and based upon that rift episode, technically anyone who has ever seen an Angel can create one in their presence just from memory. In "The God Complex", there is are 2 Angels in the room, created via hologram-type setting, but that should still have been enough to give birth to them in that reality. It might be deduced that since the Angels are never really found solitary, they hunt in packs, which would undoubtedly give them an edge over the Silence.

Side thought... If the Silence were to be wiped out (Impossible Astronaut), but reappeared in the alternate universe when all time happened at once (5:02pm - The Wedding of River Song), would that indicate that they are truly gone but only reappeared due to that alternate reality, or do you think that they will appear once again in a future episode?

Either way, I'd totally do Amy Pond.

I agree. Though I would have just boiled it down to the simple reason that if you blink with The Silence, you forget. Big whoop. If you blink with The Weeping Angels, your ass is grass.

As for The Silence being gone, their not. They ordered their own execution in "The Day of the Moon" doesn't mean they all died. Even if they did, that would just be the one's on Earth. The only thing that can truly kill all the Silents are the ratings.

I'm sure that the Silence, as a species there, will return. I foresee next season ending with the prophecy about "the question" being asked. "When the question is asked, silence will fall." After thinkin hard on that one, cause again, I have nothing to do in my life but ponder Doctor Who, if the question is indeed "Doctor, who?", I think that the translation of that refers more to the entire universe forgetting about the Doctor. In the finale for last season, when the Tardis exploded and Amy brought the Dr. back through memories at her wedding, I think that it's possible that the Dr's entire existence might revolve around him being known and popular. If the question of "Doctor, who?" is asked and nobody answers it (silence falls), then perhaps nobody knows or remembers the Dr, and he just might cease to exist.

Then again, I could be wrong. I dunno. I'm just a dork.

Oh and btw.....

You are both wrong. Silence wins. Period.

It's quite simple really. If you are looking at the angels they don't move. However, once you are no longer looking at the silence you don't remember them. Silence would look at the angels until they can move out of site and the Angels wouldn't remember who they were hunting. That is a serious advantage. Besides do we even know if the silence even have the need to blink? I know they can close there eyes, but do they have to blink?

No if the question was answered it would bring about the destruction of the silence( if I remember correctly) which was why the silence was trying to kill the Dr. In the first place.... To keep him from answering it.

Silence will fall when the question is asked. I'm taking that to mean that once the question is asked, there will be silence.

That would just mean that the Silence could escape. If a Silence locked onto an Angel, it would be quantum locked, but they could still not damage it. If an Angel locked onto a Silence without the Silence seeing it, it could easily overtake the Silence. They key here would only be to sneak up on the Silence without being seen - easy enough when you are that fast, or disguised as a statue. The Silence could get away, but the Angels would still not be defeated.

Also, playing off the Angels/Rift episode, once a Silence saw an Angel, any Angel, the Angel could come to life just from the picture in the Silence's head. So if a Silence saw an Angel, circumvented as you described, and got away, it STILL would have an Angel hunting him, only this time from within. Check & mate.

Wrong you are. Your forgetting the most important thing. Angels are never solitary creatures, they hunt in packs. While the silence was not blinking at one angel another would have it's ass for lunch. Game over. The only bad thing is that for the angels eating a silent would be just like Chinese food. They'd forget what they ate as soon as they ate it and be hungry again an hour later.

Assuming their minds and imagination work the same as a human. They are alien after all. I really want to see this played out though

I would almost bet money that this happens at some point or another. It's too popular an argument amongst hardcore fans not too.

I wouldn't mind seeing it played out either, but I highly doubt that it would happen. When in the past few seasons have any of the aliens/creatures actually fought eachother? The only one that I recall is the Dalek vs. Cybermen in the final Rose Tyler episode. There has been more of a cooperative effort made between the "bad guys" to subdue the doctor than there has of them fighting eachother.

Random thoughts:

1. I like Matt Smith's portrayal, and I dig the steampunk incarnation of the TARDIS. I don't like LOOKING at Matt Smith. HUGE skull, man! HUGE!!!

2. David Tennant is not gay. He's now married to the Moffet chick that played his cloned daughter. They were wed a few weeks ago and had a baby together before that.

Exactly. The two most popular villains at the time. It happened with them, it'll happen again.

Who you like better as the Dr.? Tennent or smith?

I actually lean more towards smith, but I agree the dude looks like he's from the Paleolithic era.

How old was that chick? Gotta be a little bit of an age gap there. He married his daughter after all ;)

Not sure how old she is, but she is cute!! Smith definitely has the caveman features going on. Overall, if I had to pick, I think I still like Tennant better, though I'm not complaining about Smith. Being a fan of the new series and not the old ones (at all), it was a bit different to get used to Tennant when he came along, simply because I don't usually think switching actors for a main character is a good idea. But, it makes sense in this series, so I run with it!

I'm supposing that this will be Smith's last season, too. Most catch onto it, but as the Doctor ages, he is replaced with a younger person each time. Storywise, I'm thinking Tennant was to be in his early 30s, Smith to be in his late 20s. Does that mean in a few years we'll have a Bieber-aged Doctor? I sincerely hope not.

The Doctor only has 13 regenerations so honestly I don't know if it will come to that, plus don't forget the fact that he could regenerate into a different species entirely or even change sexes. But if they get younger with each regeneration how do you explain River Song essentially getting older. Maybe it has something to do with her reverse timeline, I don't know.

Which goes back to the point, if you don't game then why spend so much money when you can get everything the same sans the games for less.

River Song is a child of the TARDIS. She is not a Time Lord. Her ability to regenerate was lost when she passed it to the Doctor in "Let's Kill Hitler", thusly her aging. Since she hops through time backwards of the Doctor's timeline, she appears younger as he gets older. Remember, her finale is in the Library when she is "saved" into the computer system. First time he meets her, last time she meets him. At that point, she is the oldest.

Yeah, dude does have great hair. (no homo, except kinda)

But who dosen't game??

I don't. Well, I used to, kinda, but I'm not very good at anything. I could whoop major ass in college when N64 came out (Golden Eye and Mario Kart FTMFW!!!), but after that, I just never got into it.

I don't. Maybe the occasional wii bowling or something. That's about it. I suck. I'm the ass shooting the sky while everyone else shoots me. Good thing my gaming skills don't equate to real life. After all I am a foreign weapons instructor.

I know she's a child of the TARDIS, but in some sense so are the Time Lords. It's theorized that the Time Lords received their regenerative capabilities through their connections with their TARDIS, which if true essentially makes them one and the same(might even make River more powerfull). Heck, the Doctors clone was created from the sifting of regenerative powers into his own hacked off flesh yet he doesn't have regenerative powers. Why? No TARDIS maybe. The Doctors daughter can regenerate back to health but doesn't have full regenerative capabilities to change shape or form. Why? No TARDIS maybe. It's even postulated that The Doctors regeneration is predicated on his distance from the TARDIS. If he is too far away and is mortally injured there could be the chance that he wouldn't even regenerate at all or at best regenerate with major malformation. Recall that the last two regeneration for the Doctor took place INSIDE the TARDIS, hmmm something to think about. Now sense River is a child of the TARDIS perhaps she doesn't need proximity to regenerate(or she didn't) as she was on her own during her first regeneration with no TARDIS in sight. Her second (at least shown) took place with her lying right next to the TARDIS however. Now as far as River getting older, I'm not referring to her physically as we all know she gave up her regenerative capabilities to spare The Doctors life. I'm talking about before she gave it up, when she regenerated as a child and then again as a teenager. She regenerated from a child to (supposedly) the little black girl that was best friends with Amy in highschool. Essentially showing that regeneration can age forward as well as backwards. To further clarify this, she was killed in that form and regenerated into an even older body, the one we know as River Song. This shows that regeneration could very well be bi-linear, unless like I said, it has something to do with her reverse timeline.

Getting away from the debate a bit here, but some interesting stuff nonetheless. From today on Cracked.com

I wonder if the reason is due to any type of radiation from the light source/microscope directly affecting the Uranium sample. That's weird however you 'look' at it. :)

So E-why and Bwady in the Superbowl again? :33:

Can't say I'm a fan of either team.

so I broke down over the weekend and bought a used pool table because my wife wants one. its an antique slate table, got it for $300. So between paying a local billiards company to move it, set it up, replace the one messed up rail, new pockets since the leather is falling apart on some, and refelting it so the replaced rail doesn't look different than the rest of the table, its another $750. comical that buying it cost less than setting it up. still for $1000ish i'll have a rocking like new table that has a cool antique look

Very nice! I used to play a bit. I was never really any good, but good enough to slam most of my friends. :)

Over the weekend, I busted out a game that we got with the Wiiiiiii... Since her grandparents gave it to us (someone bought it for them to 'keep fit', but that didn't work out so they gave it to us), I didn't expect a game like this in the mess of crap they had. Call of Duty Modern Warfare Reflex. Graphics are sucky on Wii. I can imagine how good they are on one of the better systems. BUT... Damn am I addicted to it!! I especially like how I can die over and over and over again and not have to start from the beginning every time. I SUCK at games, but this makes it a bit easier on me. Plus, it's killing people! I likes it... :D
