Segansational's Motivation Log

Hey, a weighin is a weighin, however you got there! Lol

So how do you feel having done the Floorpress today - do you feel like you got a good stimulus overall?

Ha, true! Held steady this AM.

Overall workout felt good from a pec activation standpoint. Used Floor Press as the first movement, almost as a pre-exhaust and didn’t go as heavy to give myself more reps. Still very tricep/front delt dominant, as it probably should be.
One good thing about being sick I guess, a guy looks shredded at the tail end of it!
Jokes on you, I've never looked shredded a day in my life!

Quick Workout Update:

27:49, 154 cals this AM. Just R1 Burn & TD carnitine pre.

Haven't done any restocks in a while, so just got this one in. All just staples stuff. DPS has great customer service btw.

Yeah, DPS is one of my go to places as well. Great prices and customer service.👍

No workouts this weekend, but did spend time doing more leaf/yard work Saturday, and got in a short pickleball session before rain came in Sunday.

Shoulders/Arms

Foam rolling / stretching
Bird Dogs x10,5,3
Scap Push Ups

Rotator cuff ex, 1# plates, 2x10,10
DB laterals, 10x3x15
EZ bar upright rows, +40x3x10

EZ bar curls, +20x3x10
Resistance band triceps pressdowns, 20x3x15
Incline DB Curls, 10x2x10
EZ bar Skull Crushers, +20x2x10

1 hr 6 mins, 177 cals.

Pre: 2 scoops Superhuman Pump (non-stim), 2 pumps TD carnitine, 1 pump Napalm Xtreme.
Intra: Same as usual.

Notes

Trying out Napalm Xtreme again, but starting light and with no other added stims this AM. Starting at 1 pump only.

Noting that I did feel that stim feeling behind my eyes and elevated heart rate during my WO, so the caffeine/yo is definitely hitting early on with the TD. Will be curious to see if I get another rush mid-morning this time...

Also, my right shoulder is just not happy these days.

Just a bro sesh this AM. All high rep, light weights. Trying to take advantage of the pump pre, and haven't really done shoulders/arms consistently, so I may just add this into the normal routine to be able to give my CNS a break from the heavier stuff every week.

Weight check in coming...

Hope that shoulder start to come around!
Thanks AK.

OK, quick Napalm Xtreme updates for anyone interested.

Yesterday 1 pump with no stims worked just fine. Even had half a cup of coffee after my morning shake and no problems. No additional energy rush later on. I applied to my stomach yesterday, as per bottle instructions it says to apply to stubborn fat areas.

Today going for 1 pump again, but supplementing with 175mg caffeine from Breach+ (caffeinated aminos) spread out pre/intra/post, while doing cardio on the bike.

Will see how this treats me with just a bit of caffeine...

Also, re: the gel - this one is probably the worst I've had so far from XPG because it has so many clumps in it that just don't rub in well - which I'm assuming is just the actives. If you try to rub in, it just kind of gums up and comes off vs working into the skin. Alpha Gel (?) I think was closest to this, but not nearly as many clumps. Usually XPG goes on smooth and clean, but not this one!

Note, start of the week weigh in held steady at 160.0# - so new target will probably be around 156# if I can manage it. Still nowhere close to having abs, so going to keep riding this train until I can't anymore... or Thanksgiving hits!

Me and those spicy topicals only got along for a little while then they started being a major irritant to my skin. I haven't used one in so long. They did seem to be decently effective on the hard to lose fat areas.

I haven't had any clumpy product from XPG including napalm. I thought Steve had once told someone there was a solution like warming the bottle in warm water or something, I might be way off though.

I got that way with Ultra hard and Ultra Epi unfortunately. loved them both but had to lotion the shoulders every day to keep the skin from falling off lol

Weight steadily continuing to drop. Definitely starting to notice physique changes. Will have to get some new photos up soon.

Not much to report. Rough morning waking up. 27 mins of cardio completed, 169 cals on the bike.

Fatigue hit late afternoon yesterday. Drank half a can of Death Wish Coffee found at the grocery store (150mg caffeine supposedly for half) and that helped.

Hey you still got cardio in, so still progress. And Death Wish coffee is what I drink in the mornings as well….definitely potent.👍

Yeah, it is surprisingly smooth for as strong as it is.

Consistency is the key!
Yall got a death wish! That coffee is so damn good tho
Haha!

I actually think they need to make a "dark roast" version, as I prefer a stronger roast. I think they make an espresso bean bag that I should try. I've bought bags of their standard version, Valhalla, and their Guatemalan beans. But when I saw the canned lattes I thought, why not?

Leg Day
Foam rolling / stretching
Scap Push Ups
Bird Dogs x10,5,3

TRX squats x TRX lunges, 3x10
Seated leg ext, 3 plates, 3x10

Squats:
45x10
95x8
135x6,6,6

56:58, 127 cals.

Pre: 1 pump TD Carnitine, 1 pump Napalm Xtreme. Today was my final dose of XPG carnitine.
Intra: 1 scoop Bomba aminos, 1 scoop Choline Citrate, 1 scoop Creatine Mono.

Notes
Tried pre-WO nutrition this morning and did not like it. 1/2 scoop whey, 1 scoop electrolytes, 1/2 scoop HBCD. I honestly don't know how you guys do it if you work out first thing in the AM. Whey just sat too heavy, and it took me a while to finish it - couldn't slam it like my pre's.

No other preWO after as I needed to get into my lifting session.

Work and home life has been really draining these days, mentally exhausted. Traveling Sunday evening and hoping the FAA/TSA issues don't impact me too much as my flights/flight times already are much less than ideal...

Also, official weigh in: 158.0# (-2.0# since start of this week)
BF: 14.5% (-0.3%)

This rate of weight loss definitely has seemed to pick up recently. I actually may want to pull back a hair, so it's not too steep of a deficit. Have a late lunch scheduled today with an old friend and will be a good opportunity for a refeed!

They do have a dark roast….here in Georgia they have it at Walmart and Kroger.😎👍

its been a while since I did morning sessions but I always had to hydrate heavily preWO so I would either pound a gatorade or mix my preWO into gatorade on my way to the gym or I'd puke otherwise. When my dad got my first gym membership for me back at age 16 I'd get up early and go hit it with him then drive home to shower for high school and half the time I'd pull over and throw up on the side of the road 😂 😂 back then my solution was a banana in the morning, now days I recognize the issue typically more as dehydration for me.

Oh, I'm 100% on board with the electrolytes train. I tell people that's one thing that I do really think has made my workouts more sustainable/effective, being hydrated throughout. I usually do it intra though.

Double smash patties with Italian meats, half an order of fries, and this monstrous cookie milkshake later, was full through the remainder of the evening!

This week will be a little less restrictive in food choices while traveling, as it'll be a lot of on the go meals at airports, so the slight calorie bump is coming at a convenient time.

Oh boy that shake looks dangerously good!
It was delicious, but I'll be honest I couldn't even finish it! A younger me definitely would've! I planned ahead though and ordered it before the burger - that's strategery right there!

Was awake at 7:15 this morning, so got in one last cardio session before heading out to Minnesota this afternoon. 30:11, 196 cals. Looks like we might get some snow while I'm out there.

Won't be traveling with my TD. Also, unsure I'll have much time for workouts since my schedule is jam packed, but the plan is always to get at least one session and at least one good meal in. Cheers fellas!

OK, wow - I was not prepared for the level of gym this hotel has. It's really an entire fitness center: 4 rooms of equipment, a basketball court, large fitness class room, pool, etc. Tons of machines, and not just cardio equipment.

Upper Body:

Scap Push Ups
Bird Dogs x10,5,3
Cat Camels

Machine Chest Press:
50x12
70x10
90x8

Straight arm machine flys:
30x10
50x10
50x10

Smith Machine Bench Press:
+50x10
+70x8
+90x6

Machine Lat Pulldown:
50x12
70x10
90x8

Seated Cable Rows:
55x12
70x10
85x10
100x8

Iso-Lateral Rows, per side:
25x10
30x10
35x10
40x8

Foam rolling / stretching to finish.

~50 mins, 169 cals.

Pre: 1/2 packet C4, 3 caps VasoforceXT.
Intra: G2 Glacier Freeze

[]Notes[/i]
Will try to get a few pictures to post up when the gym is less busy (don't want to be that creeper), but was really happy with the fitness center here. Nothing too heavy or taxing this AM, just some lighter weight / higher rep progressions. Just was looking to get a good pump and blood flowing.

That’s crazy for a hotel! Take advantage! Sounds like a great session and workout

Gotta love a good hotel gym!!!

For sure. Glad I didn't try to stay somewhere else - which was my initial plan!Every once and a while, maybe one out of every 8 hotels, has something worth while. Yeah man! This one has some different equipment variation like the Hammer Strength Leg Press I used this morning. Instead of a fixed track, it was more of a pendulum like swing motion.

Pre: 1/2 packet C4, 3 caps VasoforceXT.
Intra: 1/4 G2 from yesterday, 1 packet of Liquid IV. Found these yesterday at the little mini mart on site, so that was a nice surprise!

Notes
Believe it or not, Tuesday morning was busier than Monday. So didn’t get a chance to really grab many pictures, but here's two.

Also, been hearing on a few podcasts how Jay, Phil, and Seth Feroce really feel that the stair step mill is what got them some of the deeper cuts/detail, so figured I'd hop on just to see how I like it this AM. Didn't do a ton since it was post leg workout, but it for sure got my heart rate going and felt more strenuous than a bike.

Slept like sh!t again last night, even with ZMA in the mix (which I forgot about the first night). Late flight home this evening. Cheers fellas!

when Jay had Phil on his podcast they talked about how using the stair machine was their secret weapon to cutting because they felt they were getting hypertrophy while conditioning.

I was actually going to say, the only thing that would make sense regarding that would be that the stairmill offers much more resistance and is probably preserving muscle better, especially in the glute ham tie-ins. Fat loss is going to be the same, you create the deficit, the fat burns off, you continue until you achieve the targeted fat loss. No difference there. So it would have to be the extra resistance. I mean think about it, at their bodyweights that is a fug ton of step ups, or lunges at weights well over 200lbs.

it is, my buddy with the big squat tries to take the stairs 2 at a time for more of a lunge effect. he's been pretty overweight for a very long time and has dropped like 40lbs in the past few months hitting the stairs on mornings before work, its impressive. he started with a serious struggle at 10 minutes, then 20, and now basically until boredom wins. the upside for me is that his weight loss means he probably isn't squatting 500lbs anytime soon so I think I have the higher total now 😂 😂

Well you never know, he is probably building stamina which will increase volume capability which might increase mass, and slingshot him once he isn't pushing that so hard. WAIT, I mean you are damn straight, you have him beat now! ;)

Yep, that was the episode I was listening to recently!

Also, here's one more photo of the gym I forgot to post. I'd stay at this hotel again just because of the fitness facility if I'm ever out here in Minneapolis again.

I was only there once, briefly and never felt the need to go back
Well, like most work trips for me, I barely set foot outside of the hotel - so I honestly rarely get a feel for what the cities I visit are like. Did find a nice English pub nearby for lunch, and had a good seafood dinner one evening. The airport in MN is pretty decent too.

Weigh in yesterday had me at 160.4#, so up 2.4#.

Cardio this AM was 34 mins on the bike for 195 cals, 1 pump Napalm Xtreme pre, along with 2 caps of Recovery Fix. Will be adding this in for the next 30 days. Lower back was bugging me while biking (maybe it was all that sitting on the airplane). Will probably pick up some CucuPrime on sale for BF.

Definitely feeling the lingering effects of work travel still. Lower back had that little twinge of pain on the left side. Feeling exhausted still and have been doing some make up work in the evenings. So didn't wake up with my early alarms this AM. Today ended up being just a light shoulder/arm pump.

Briefly,

Foam rolling / stretching
Scap Push Ups
Bird Dogs

DB laterals 3x12
EZ bar upright rows 3x10
EZ bar curls, inner grip - arm blaster style, 3x10
Dips x10,10,8

34 mins total, all I had time for.

Looks like you did what you needed to do for a shoulder an arm session. All bricks you lay, no matter how small, help to build the wall.

This might've only been a pebble! But yeah, any session I can fit in still is forward progress to me.

Official Weigh-In: 158.6#
BF: 14.5%

The bloat is gone and seemingly back on track with things. So up 0.6# since end of last week, right on target at the moment. Plan to keep steady here until Thanksgiving, soak up the food there for a bit of a calorie bump, then settle back into the normal routine.

Here is to a short week brother!!! I’m ready!!!

Here is to a short week brother!!! I’m ready!!!
For sure! Took off today to be able to get ready for the week - picked up the turkey, stocked up on drinks, did some volunteer work at our public school, and had a daddy-daughter lunch date. Packed day, but was fulfilling.

Squeezed in a cardio session late afternoon today - 25:04 on the bike, 177 cals burned. Felt like it was much easier to move the pedals for an afternoon session than my usual morning WO. Pre-WO was 1 pump Napalm Xtreme and 1 can of Alani Nu Pink Slushie. Kind of a strawberries & cream flavor / bubble gum taste. Not bad, but probably won't seek it out again.

Tomorrow is more house preparation and cooking before everyone arrives on Thursday for Thanksgiving.

One more before the holiday!

These were a bit tough at the end of a WO and I was rushing a little between sets. My form on the last set was definitely off as I never really sat back into the movement and my thighs didn’t get parallel to the floor enough.

57:04, 142 cals.

Pre: 1 pump Napalm Xtreme, 2 caps Recovery Fix, 2 scoops Superhuman Pump.
Intra: 1 scoop EAA9, 5g creatine mono, 1 scoop R1 Lytes, 1g Choline Citrate, 1/2 scoop Super Carb.

Notes

This session was definitely a little taxing on my lower back doing both BB rows & Deads together in succession. Right shoulder still hasn't completely recovered - feel like it just is rolled forward too much and needs to be pulled back. My shoulder session the other day did help I think loosen things up, so I'll have to be more intentional about it moving forward.

Hey fellas, hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! I did zero workouts the last two days, but hopped on the bike this morning:

27:02, 176 cals.

Did end up doing a little holiday supp shopping after all.

Here's my @sns8778 order I also posted in the In Mail thread. Was going to go smaller this year, but the deals got me! Will be good to be back on Joint Support XT and CurcuPrime again. Already started them back up as my back has really been feeling it lately.

Also snagged some fun stuff from another site, where I get most of my good pre's. Picked up a tub of Mr. White.

And finally, decided to indulge on some Musclesport Iso Hydro protein. Ridiculously expensive even on BF sale, but told myself I deserve a treat vs always just buying the cheapest protein deal. I only do it once a year, so might as well live a little!

Is the death wish coffee really that heavy on caffeine? Sometimes I feel like I want to just switch to coffee for my morning workouts. Mentally I want to give up pre workout, but those 5:00-5:30 workouts like to quick slam a pre workout drink. Coffee is more of a sip and enjoy haha.

If you just need more caffeine content, but you want to drink a warm cup of coffee preWO, AND you don’t want to spend more for the higher octane coffee - you can get a $5 bottle of caffeine tabs at your local superstore. 80 tabs at Walmart 200mg each, easy to bite in half if you want an odd amount (100, 300 etc) too.

Pop one when you get up with a cup of water, pour your coffee, and take a mug to finish to the garage/basement as you warm up.

But I find coffee to be significantly more dehydrating beyond what caffeine already does, so if I have any preWO I also shoot an extra 1/4 tsp of salt (600mg sodium) in addition to the one I always take. If I don’t, I am weaker/flatter and feel less safe after coffee - I will be peeing again by the time I’ve driven to the gym.

Yeah Death Wish coffee has an extremely high caffeine content. But like Hyde said, coffee can dehydrate you, so I always drink water immediately after a cup of coffee…just an old habit. And like he said the caffeine tabs at Walmart are an easy way to add more caffeine pre-workout.

Google AI…Death Wish Coffee has a high caffeine content, with estimates ranging from approximately 59 mg per fluid ounce when brewed to around 354 mg in a 6 fl oz serving. According to Consumer Reports, a 12 fl oz cup can contain as much as 708 mg of caffeine, though brewing methods will vary the final amount.

Supposedly it uses robusto vs arabica coffee beans, so it naturally has higher caffeine content.

There is no way it gets anywhere close to >300mg if brewed according to directions. Based on feel I'd probably put it at 200mg max.

But on a day like today, it's cold and rainy out, a hot cup of coffee with a little extra kick sounds perfect after getting our Xmas tree out in the elements!
