Squat
555x1 Opening Attempt

SSB GM
335x3

Bodyweight reverse hyper & lunges.

Edit:

555 moved slow but well, and I hit it about an hour after waking up so it'll be a solid opener. I'm thinking 555/590/625. I'll gauge 590 and contemplate somewhere between 610-625.

Have to go back and read, awesome you’re posting again. I’ve always heard trauma is a hard one to deal with if the loss of life can get to you easily (not that ER is easier, that’s just what I’ve always heard)

It's good to see you, man. I hope you've been doing good.

You're definitely right. I'm good with dealing with it. However, peds and oncology I do not want to do.

Benched Wednesday morning. 205 for 3 singles and incline axle 205x3.

Today I pulled 3 singles at 495 then did the GHR and walking lunges.

I'll go in tomorrow and keep active.

Bodyweight is still staying steady 189-190.

At least you know you won’t be backed up this cut (as long as you don’t overdo the Imodium)

Last session before the meet?
Affirmative. I'll go in Wednesday and just do my non-barbell warmups. Lunges, band pullaparts and the like.

I've been averaging 2.5 gallons of water so far.

When you don't feel like driving to vitamin shoppe for dandelion root because you can't find the bottle you bought 3 weeks ago and you resort to 16 packets of detox tea from Walmart.

Woke up at 185.6. I started my water load weighing 191 so I think I'm on the right track. My last fluids were this morning. 2 coffees, diuretic, Bronkaid, dandelion tea.

Edit
& a monster

Yesterday and again today is boiled chicken w/potassium salt and almonds. I'll see what my weight it tonight and determine if I need a sauna bath.

I wouldn't have cut weight since I'm not going for any records but there will be other 181s with similar strength and I wanted to be competitive.

Reading "boiled chicken" makes me gag.

Last couple of meets i watched (like a washed up person does) the 181's was a pretty stout class.

Let the loading begin! Low fats, constant simple carbs, lots of electrolytes - keep your food and fluid with you wherever you go and rest as much as possible. Tomorrow is your day!

Fuckin lame. Missed 617. I suck at grinding. Went 551/584/617.

Update
220 bench. No go on 242. Could feel it on my AC and I told them to take it.
Sucks about the miss, some days the body just says no. Are you going to proceed or shut it down due to AC?

Pulled 617 clean but because I fell back when I was returning the bar, it was red lighted. Even though I think I did? And I just had another judge tell me it was because of my shoulders. Oh well. It's a hobby.

584/220/584

Damn, 6/9. Definitely less than you are capable of but that’s why meets are so tough - lots of variables. Still, 1,388 at 181 in sleeves natty is a great total nonetheless! Could likely do a meet in 4 weeks and beat it.

I suposse this is my best meet by bodyweight at least. 7.6x bw total versus 7.3x w/ 1620 @ 220.

I woke up with a headache. Probably from when I blew eyeball blood vessels. But that's passed and I only have moderate soreness.

I rested before the meet and I only did 9 reps yesterday so I'll be back in the gym tomorrow. I've been searching around programs. Found a Christian Thibaudeau program that looks interesting so I'm going to test drive a week of it and see how it goes. I'd like to compete at 198 next in the Spring.

Saw the video on IG. Tough call on that last pull but it did look awkward at lockout so i can see why someone would’ve said “something looked funky” and red lighted you. I do think you got the lockout and returned it to the floor though...but i dont really matter cuz i didnt have the button lol. 7.6x bw total is awesome, man. I think 198 will likely offer the best of both worlds for you in terms of body comp and strength levels.

Yeah, it sucked and initially I was really thinking "wtf" but I really could have pulled back on it more. I was on my toes and a light breeze would have been enough to tip me forwards. I know the judges, they were all helpful and open about why they made their calls. I honestly don't think there was a bad call that day. No white-lights were given without warning it and no reds were given without reason.

Going with Tib’s program then for now?
Yeah, I think so. I looked at some barbell method programs and Josh Bryant's off-season program (which I previously did a few weeks of before). Then looked at Nuckols off-season program that I did before. I'm a bit undecided but I wanted something new, and Thib has some interesting loading protocols in the next block. Anyways, trying a week to see. I've honestly never followed Thib at all.

I have a feeling I'm going to get bored of this soon and keep feeling a shift towards Josh Bryant's newer books (off-season/tactical shield) But, there's adequate volume and intensity and I'm having good sessions whereas Josh Bryant's is literally just 8x8 accessory after the meat and potatoes lifts, but, I didn't mind doing it either.
