Red Sox 2009

I know 0-5 sucks, but we need to win against who ever is in front of us. When the sox come to town, then we shall see.

He does look confused, and I dont want him to get well, at least not against the yankees

Looks like Yankee pitching still brings out the best in Big Papi (despite his recent issues at the plate) when he tee'd off on yankee pitching yet again over the center field wall tonight.

Bottom of the 8th, and the Sox are stomping the skanks 7-0. It would be oh so sweet to have the Sox up 6-0 in the season series thusfar. :006:

^^^^ And Beckett was straight dealing. Looks like he's returned to form too. Last 4-5 starts have been lights out. Now with Smoltz coming off the DL, the rotation is silly deep.

If Papi ever becomes Papi again... look out.

Dude, give it up... Ortiz is done, washed up. Very few people have come back from a funk like that. When manny left, he took his PED's with him! :D

Shoulda signed Tiex.

What a game! Sox take a 7-0 lead in the season series vs. the yank-me's. You damn well bet I'm LOVIN' every single minute of it; not to mention we've already won the series! :D

WHO'S YOUR DADDY NEW YORK!!! :usa1:

I'm loving it for sure. Go Sox!

However, it will be a close race until the end of the season...you can't count out the Blue Jays this year either.

Cheers!

3 Straight Series Sweeps of the Yank-me's!! 9 straight wins to date since last year! HAHAHAHAHA!!

I will be the sacrificial lamb here.

The Sox are just better right now, all there is to it. Thank goodness it is a long season

Yes indeed they are. There is a reason the Yankees and every other team in baseball will have a problem with the BOSOX...they have ridiculous pitching depth. Even with Big Poopi formerly known as Big Papi being an absolute embarrassment at the plate...the offense is still solid, but with their pitching depth...I still think they are the favorite to win it all.

I am just hoping I can see my Cubbies get going...I want to see a Red Sox vs Cubs WS. Wishful thinking I know, but a guy can dream...:)

Cheers!

Sorry, wont happen.... just not going to be the lovable losers in the NL Central this year. :D

I miss all the yankee/red sox sh*t slinging. :(

Hot-damn i'm loving it right now, though. :D There is no doubt the difference has been pitching. Beckett and Lester both look to be back to form; Wakefield continues to amaze me; Penny was a pleasant surprise in ways and continues to get better; Smoltz is about to be added back in; Dice-k still scares me when i watch him pitch (he's really looked bad this year thusfar, but he looks to be slowly finding his form.)

The bullpen though is really where they're set apart. Boston has so much depth it really is ridiculous.

its all bullpen. Now if the yanks were smart and would send Joba to the 8th, that gap would close. However, until they do, they wont catch the sox

I wouldn't say it's all bullpen; your starting rotation hasn't been all that impressive as well. Pettite has looked solid, but i can't say that for anyone else. Inconsistency has been the trend. Didn't joba walk 5 guys over a few innings during his last start? :006: I'll have to start calling him "Dice-K" then.

Adam - Check this out if you haven't already. I just ordered one:

28.0 IP 17 ER and a 5.46 ERA in his past 5 starts.........

Minus his last start. ;)

Either way though; the yankees don't have anywhere near the depth the sox have in their starting rotation, or bullpen. It's going to be the difference maker in the end.

You have your "Strap" handy as well? :D

This so reminds me of the Fizogen Strap... just with a MLB backing.

Adams

This is WAY better than "The Strap!" LOL

I bought it for the logo apparel though. I don't buy into the other bullsh*t it claims obviously. ;)

I must say i'm liking it so far. GO SOX BABY!!! :D

I watched the Cleveland/St Louis game last night. Cliff Lee was spot-on man.

I know... Carpenter/Lee... was hell of a match up... STL offense is non-existent right now though... quite the power outage.

MMM...Cardinals are still scary...hell all that needs to happen for them...if Pujols goes on a ridiculous tear which he has been known to do...The Cards become serious contenders just like that. Pujols is without question the best player in the game...you can't argue against a guy who consistently puts up monster numbers...a down year for Pujols is a career year for 95% of major league ball players. He is an all around player at that...the guy can play multiple positions if needed to, but he has found a comfortable home at 1B and his glove there is one of the better ones in the game.

Cheers!

Oh that is without question. But my thoughts on the front office are begining to scare me. They are all about the dumpster diving for players, and not willing to shell out the dollars to back up pujols. he is getting walked astronomically because we do not have the fire power to back him up. Take him out of the game right now and our team just lost our offense. Him and Molina are the team right now... Watching them two play is amazing. But they are surrounded with rookies who were brought up to soon, albiet Rasmus is shaping up to be something. Alberts contract is up in 2011, and he said he would stay where they are serious about contending, I dont think he is seeing that from the front office of the franchise right now.

If the Cards let a player with the numbers and character of Pujols walk in 2011, the GM should be dragged into the street and shot.

Bill DeWitt (DeWallet) is not a fan favorite here in St. Louis right now. Been saying he will get some back up for Pujols for awhile now, then comes in with waivered players... we are a team synonymous with trying to turn around low hanging fruit. Then the time we do (Felipe Lopez), we let him go... seriously now.

Just thought I would bring to light that Big Poopi saw the light after the eye drops and became Big Papi again...nice turnaround indeed! That is all...:biglaugh:

He certainly looks a HELL of a lot better at this point. He's finally able to get to that inside fastball again. He hit an absolute BOMB last night against the braves. We need him to put up some decent numbers to make it through the post season.

On another note; Josh Beckett looks flat-out dominant again! :D

Even though I still think it's all sanctimonious bullcrap from people that made a lot of money and continue to make money on these guys. I Don't want to hear anything else about A-Rod and the Yankees when it comes to this subject. Looks like that 2004 championship just got a little smeared.

u mad? Like you said in the other thread... quit crying that you lost!

Big Papi on the juice???...UH OH!
He commented in April how those on "hi test" disgrace their families and the game of baseball:footinmouth:
He supposedly tested positive in 2003!
Who's next...Pujols:surprised:

That 'ratass' Canseco is lookin more genuis by the moment:laugh2::laugh2::laugh2:

Damn, you got me:18:, Yes we did lose in horrible fashion but I've gotten over it. The Red Sox winning in "04" was good for baseball and insured that this would be the greatest rivalry in sports. I'm not mad, I've got 8 champoinships in my lifetime of following the Yankees that I can continue to celebrate, maybe 9 this year. Trauma where are you, I know you'll be jumping in soon.:laugh2:

I'm here - Just been arguing it more on facebook, haha. :18: This is all that i'll say: If anyone honestly thinks that for the last 20+ years that steroids haven't been involved in baseball, they're either nieve, ignorant, or just plain stupid. Remember Giambi losing like 30 lbs over the off season one year? Coincidence? - I think not. We know he admitted to use, but not as a yankee? Ok...

What has happened with Ortiz is a shame, but i'm not surprised. I think many of the guys of his caliber are going to fall in the near future around the league. That list from 2003 has 100 guys names on it; i'm sure as it leaks further, many more big names will gradually begin to surface in the same light...

Other than that - what's good, frank? :D

Torii Hunter told ESPN.com: "Whoever got that list is just playing with Major League Baseball right now. Either put [the list] away, or just put it out. It was anonymous and now the names are leaking and it's a joke."

+1 ^^^

I'm doing very well John. btw, I'm sure it's been more than 20 years that PED's were being used, people just looked the other way. It's all BS

Word, cats were popping "greenies" (amphetamines) back in the 70's. I've read that they'd even put it in the coffee. There'd be two pots, one marked "with" and one "without". :privateeye:

There are only a few players I don't think did anything. At this point the whole era (regardless of team affiliation) is tainted with this. Its a shame really, but I still hold on to hope that (as a yankee fan) Jeter was not involved or Mariano Rivera. I would give up baseball altogether.

The fact is that it really doesn't matter, everyone in this era is being painted with a broad brush. I enjoy watching Jeter and Mariano play, If it was found that they took "something" it would not change my feelings at all. btw, the playing field was never level and never will be.

Agreed, ~100 players out of 750 active rostered is not very level.

I wish all this sh*t would end so we can go back to baseball, again. First the strike, now this? Unreal...

I honestly could care less anymore who's juicin'. It's been going on a long time and everyone turned their shoulder as frank said. Unfortunately, baseball has taken the burden of this bullsh*t. Either way, i'm over it.

The Yankee/Red Sox rivalry is unmatched in all of sports, imo. That in itself is VERY GOOD for baseball.

Unfortunately T, you know it is not going away any time soon.

The reason baseball gets the black eye is because it is America's pastime, known for good rivalries and fair play. Everyone knows the 300 pound linebacker is juiced to the gills.. no one cares. Baseball players exemplify morals, which is being challenged now, and shown they are on the losing end of their moralistic promises.

I honestly do not care... it will help you drive the ball, but doesnt give you hand eye coordination.

Word ^^^

Also, it's a very historic and numbers/statistics-driven game. Everyone knows the magic #'s of 500 HR's, 300 wins, 3,000 hits, etc, etc, etc. When those #'s are reached and/or surpassed (under dubious circumstances) it pisses people off, lets people down, disappoints, angers, saddens, etc.

Interesting... I'm not sure I'd put the Yanks / Red Sox even in my top 3 rivalries.
