Yeah, I think I maxed out for the day too. I heard on Reddit that one of the users who works for Niantic is going to bring up the option of being able to manually remove Pokémon from gyms so you can collect coins, and it could also help free up gym slots for other people. Of course, the really obvious solution would be to give coins at the end of the day for any Pokémon in gyms, up to the daily max, but I don't know if the company wants that, as keeping one Pokémon in one remote gym will always max you out without ever having to participate in gyms again.
You didn't catch him? Did you have any golden raz berries to use? I still don't have a TTar. There's another level 3 raid close to my house in a little under an hour. I may come back and see what it is and if it's worth spending some coins on a pass for. These raids are making me not want to evolve mon that are obtainable in raids; the OG starters, Arcanine, Machamp, Gengar, Alakazam, TTar, etc. Better to save 50-125 candy, especially if you already have the mon for the Pokedex.
I'd just power up some mon that would be useful against raid bosses, particularly tier-4 ones, and maybe tier-3 ones if you don't plan on having 4+ people, as the consensus seems to be soloing a T-3 raid boss is VERY difficult, so having 2-3 people and strong mon would help. I'd also start planning on strong counters for legendaries, like Golem for the three birds, and TTar and maybe Scizor and Houndoom for Mew(two). The rare candy and TMs are a cool new dynamic, but I think I'll save the candy for now haha.
That's a pretty nice list. Blissey probably won't be that useful in raids due to the emphasis on DPS. Especially when teaming up, the more damage you do the more balls you get.
That's true, and if you have a max potion or revive, you can still heal it completely with one.
Yeah. I've seen a suggestion of 50 for defense and another 50 for attacking, like taking down gyms, which would also help increase turnover so you don't have a mon sitting in a gym for days not collecting anything.
I have yet to actually have a tier-4 battle with teammates. The highest team battle was a T3 Arcanine that went down in no time with 3 attackers (levels 31, 40, 28). Did you all use rock attackers on Charizard? Golem with dual rock moves should make quick work of Charizard due to his dual weakness. Also, it looks like you can rejoin a raid if you still have time left after your team all faints, you just have to rejoin, and maybe re pick your mon, since the silly AI likes to pick Chancey to do raids for some reason, so I'd go for max DPS, dodge only when it's easy and doesn't waste time, and just rejoin if you can. I'll have to see how that theory holds up in practice though, but it should allow you to maximize DPS to beat some harder defenders. I'm thinking that 5 for a T4 would be a safe bet, as would 3 for a T3, with 4 being a little harder for a 4 (3 being quite difficult), and 2 being doable for a T3, and soloing it being quite difficult without a optimal maxed-out team. I'd think Charizard, Rhydon, and even TTar (assuming everyone has a solid fighting team) should go down faster than Snorlax or Lapras due to dual-weaknesses. Imagine a Raid Blissey!

I hadn't played since the original 150. At least my old level/CP seems playable I tackled my first raid and took it out. "Just" a 12k Wheezing but I was alone and rusty, main hitters were a Snorlax and Rhydon
These raid alerts are almost annoying, my house is within range of 3 Gyms and every time I open the app it seems like at least 2 are alerting me
More than 1 raid a day seems pricey, pushing users to purchase in-game currency. Smart addition by them
Any tips of what to try finding/evolving of the new additions?
There's a naming trick that works once each for Espeon and Umbreon, and then you can guarantee an evolution by walking at least 10km with an Eevee, and evolving it during the day (Espeon) or the night (Umbreon). I'd evolve it when it's still your buddy, but I don't know if it's a necessity.
Haha, I had a free pass unused from yesterday, one for today, and enough coins from defending over the last few days to get the third. I have admittedly spent a few dollars on raid passes though, but yeah, I'd imagine they're making good money from people buying raid passes, but it is really AWESOME to see so many people, from all three teams, communicating, socializing, and even helping each other; that's what the game should be IMO.
Legendaries should be interesting, but I'm not sure how they'll be implemented, or if it'll be any challenge or not if 20 people just team up on them haha. It looks like the real "endgame" ATM if you can call it that, is either soloing Tier 3 raids or taking down Tier 4s with as few people as possible.
I think there'll be more to come later. I think this event is 3 weeks or so, so they could add things in later like shinys or even legendaries at/after the Pokémon Go Fest in Chicago later in the month. I can hope at least.

This. I don't put any mon in gyms that have a place on any Tier 3-4 Raid teams, or legendary raids in the future. I like putting cool/interesting mon in gyms and/or mons with unusual movesets that hit counters hard. Themed gyms are also cool to build; Eeveelutions, fossil mons, etc.
Better make friends with someone from another team and have them take down those gyms. LolI'm down my best 2 fire types and my 2600 Snorlax

Snorlax isn't really a great Raid mon IMO due to his low DPS and lack of really good type matchups against raid bosses. Leave it IMO. Dual rock moves are ideal, and rock blast still does good cycle damage (less damage than stone edge, but less energy cost). It's possible that you are left with less "wasted/unused" damage if he faints in a battle, as you can get off a rock blast 3x as often as stone edge, so if Golem faints with 66% of a full charge bar for Stone Edge, you do no damage for it, compared to getting off 1-2 additional rock blasts.

It's newish. Beating a raid (typically Tier 3-4) will sometimes drop a TM. A fast/quick TM will allow you to swap one Pokémon's fast move, and a charge will do the same for the charge move. Since most mon only have two possible quick moves, using a quick TM will pretty much guarantee the other move, but since most have 3 charge moves, there's no guarantee you'll get the move you want, but you will get one of the usually two other moves. Also, there is no guarantee of it cycling through all moves; you can go from 1 to 2, then 2 to 1, then 1 to 2, and never get move 3 if that's how the randomness happens to play out. TMs are relatively rare in my experience, so I use them only for mons with uses, like taking down difficult raids.
