I am 6'3" and 42 years old. I was very athletic in high school and even played some college baseball. I have been very fortunate in my career and during 2001-2007 had the privilege of working at a high executive level in Washington, DC. However, during the past decade, I found myself getting out of shape to the point where I ballooned to 248 lbs. and had a waist of 41.5 inches in Dec. 2008.

This is not an infomercial, but the routine that changed my life was getting up every morning and doing P90X for what is now 1.5 years. About half way through 2009, however, I realized that just doing exercises wasn't enough, and for the past few months I have gotten my eating in order and I've discovered supplements, including using USPLabs products. I even utilize the FTP training as I enjoy working out first thing on an empty stomach.

To date, my waistline is down to 36 inches and my weight is around 217. People are telling me I look 30 and at a high school friend's wedding this weekend, old friends said they thought I looked taller and that I look just like I did in high school!

Thank you to P90X; thank you to AM and Nutraplanet for all of the information that I have been able to utilize; and thank you to USPLabs for products that are making a difference! My life has truly changed!

I saw my greatest development when I started doing deads. Fortunately I had a guy at the gym who helped me with my form and got me into a proper pair of shoes for deads and squats.

June 2008,

I was just getting my strength back and I was doing 90 lb db's on seated shoulder press and drop to the 80's, I knew I was exhausted but that just pissed me off and I kept going. Something happened and my shoulder started to rotate in the socket. I dropped the db's just before it could completely dislocate but the damage was done.

Up unitll this day I could not do back squats because I just could not get comfortable with my bad shoulder and you don't want to be fussing with your shoulder when you're doing heavy squats.

I had never done Front Squats with any real success before but my back was against the wall, I had to do something. I had been doing leg press but that was not going to cut it. I was just about to start my second run of Prime when I decided to bite the bullet and add Front Squats to my regime. Needless to say Prime was very instumental in allowing be to get up to 300 lbs on the front squats in about 6 weeks!! This was for reps of 5 and I had started at 225 I believe..

That was it, they became a standard part of my routine. It wasn't long till I had noticed that my quads were getting bigger and more defined. When it came down to contest time my mentor commented that he had never seen my legs with that kind of size and separation. Legs were never much of a feature for me before but thanks to a shoulder injury and my back being up against it, I had changed my stars....

Just goes to show you, just because something bad happens doesn't mean your goose is cooked, hell even if your goose is cooked at least you have a meal and you can always get another goose. Bottom line is, never give in to misfortune, fight untill you can't fight anymore then get some rest and fight some more!!

Oh P.S. I just became a Grandpa!!

For me the exercise that changed everything that I am is the Barrel Curl... let me explain:
in Iraq in 2004 I discovered that I was near 30% BF and was a mess. One day I picked up the barrel to our .50 caliber machine gun. I started doing curls with it. This activated muscles that hadn't been used in years. I was re-addicted and recommitted. I did these curls for the rest of the deployment, and have since moved to BB curls... So this is it for me, not that it changed the muscles as much as changed my life

You mean you weren't strong enough to curl the receiver

You ain't no slouch if you can curl a ma duece barrel. :fing02:

Congrats Grandpa!

Barrel is somthin like 24-25lbs, the reciever is like 60, and if its got a tripod on it add another 40 or so!

I remember that barrel being alot heavier than that...but I was 19, 169lbs soaking wet at 6ft tall back then.

Don't get me started with that :cussing: tripod on either the .50 or the 240.
I hated humping those things.

The exercise that changed lifting (and sprinting) for me was the Romanian Deadlift.

The increased posterior strength was vital in dropping my sprint times. Squats helped, but it wasn't until I started on Romanian Deadlifts that I saw massive chunks of time fall off my sprints.

Heavy deadlift (from floor or rack), most definitely! Just the sheer motivation to pull as much as I can, the satisfaction when I set a new PR, the stretch in my traps, the looks on peoples faces that dont expect me to be able to lift that much. Compared to many on here its relatively little, but in my gym in dirty jerzy, where its alot of chest n bi guys who never hit legs or lower back, I definitely can show up the majority of the tools.

It has helped my posture, as well as just the general shape of my back, which I've been told is my best group.

like i said not too special compared to many people on here, but compared to others i hope its pretty good

That's a crap ton more than I'm lifting so far! I just did some preliminary after shots, my back looks like it got about 4-6 inches wider just from DL in 2 months o.O!

Deadlift is the exercise for me.. the only exercise that makes me feel big 2 days later, every time!! Loving it!
Keeping an eye out for pink magic @ inner circle!

lol yeah it was all I had at the time. This last deployment was using the entire thing! ahhh the memories (tear wipe)

Throwing my app in...

Exercise of Choice - Lunges
I've always been a believer in the big 3 exercises (Squats, Deadlifts and Bench Press). About a year ago, I ruptured one of my lower discs. Basically Dr. told me it was as bas as she's seen, but as long as I could handle the pain, to hold off on surgery. So, I've been managing the pain for over a year now, but I've had to change some of my exercises up a bit. One of the biggest changes was the replacement of squats. It just caused to much pain on my lower back when I tried to squat, so I started incorporating different lunging exerercises. I've never done lunges before so I wasn't sure how effective they would be, but man was I surprised the next day after I just about fell out of bed because my legs were so sore from doing lunges. I now incorporate different lunge variations to my routine and can happily say I haven't lost any mass or size from my legs. Not to mention it's so much easier on my back.

By the way, thanks to USP Labs and Jacob for the contest. From the reviews I've read, PINK definately looks promising.

Deadlift

DeadLift

I can honestly say that the Deadlift has changed my entire outlook on lifting. I used to shy away from doing any sort of lower body or lower back exercises and focused on chest,, shoulders, and arms. I figured that was all that really mattered. I was incredibly naive in how I should be lifting. And as expected the compound lifts I actually was doing started to stall out. Then I discovered the Deadlift and my entire workouts changed. I started light and researched intensely on making sure I had the proper form because I knew going in that if done incorrectly then I could mess up my back. Once I got the form down, I started to throw some decent weight on the bar and felt myself get stronger week after week. Then something unexpected happened...All my other compound lifts started to go up. I realized that the deadlift hits so many muscles with one lift and my core was much more stable. I was seeing and feeling the lift hit so many muscles at the same time (Lower Back, Upper Back, Glutes, Shoulders, Traps, Arms, Forearms, and Abs). Then it clicked that I had been wasting my time and energy on the wrong things. So I switched my workouts to focus the big 4 main lifts (military press, deadlift, barbell bench press, and squats) and haven't looked back. I went from doing endless sets of curls and extensions and hit the meat. I love the feeling of pulling raw weight off the floor. No one there to help me on any rep, just me versus the weight and my display of all my raw strength. So the Deadlift really opened my eyes to show me the path to true strength and mass.

Thank you for this opportunity!

Deadlift for me as well, never realized so many people thought so highly of the good ol' deadlift, nobody else ever does them in my gym. The deadlift is the exercise I really draw my motivation from, even from the start I have always been quite strong in this exercise and has only gotten better with time. Anytime I'm feeling a bit weak I can always set up for some deadlifts and bounce right back up.
