PES- Amino IV

I've been dosing 1 scoop IV to bridge my meals. I'm thinking about adding 2.5g bulk Leucine to each scoop. Would this be overkill on the Leucine front? (Hint hint lol)

Ewwww..good question in regards to adding more Leucine. This sounds like a good idea (if it's okay). Waiting for others to chime in.

Done it last night for the first, didn't take away from the flavour or mix ability at all :)

Awesome to hear. Well I am still waiting on my orders of it from NP from the Black Friday sale. I'm supposed to get it tomorrow along with a couple of Alphamine's.

It already has the highest leucine content of any amino I'm aware of 10:1:1

This, I really don't see a need to add bulk leucine, with some fairly simple math you can figure out a rough figure for the leucine content already in the product, not to mention the HICA as well which is pretty much super-leucine lol. Well it is a metabolite of leucine that I have found to be very effective in my own experience

Great point especially about HICA. Love that stuff. I am just about finished with a stand alone product that has HICA and it's great. Since I have bought Amino IV, I may not need to buy this other stand alone product for awhile.

This is very odd since malic acid was included specifically to enhance solublity and uptake of the amino acids. How did you dose it and what other supplements are you taking?
XFA 45 mins before.
Evol 30 mins before.
2 scoops CL Amino IV intraworkout.

Possible interactions?

It's worth noting I just finished a workout and haven't had any issues yet (fingers crossed!). And at the risk of providing too much info, and just to clarify - when I'm talking about GI distress I mean mega flatulence and diarrhoea, sorry guys lol.
Oh wow..sorry to hear that bud. It's not like it has forskolin in it or anything.
I remember trying forskolin before and I had had some pain for a few days but it cleared up pretty quick.

Same, sweet HICA was why I went for some Amino IV. ;)

Yeah, I don't think HICA gets the credit it deserves to be honest with you.

Shouldn't be any need to add additional leucine to a scoop of AminoIV. Between the 10:1:1 ratio and the HICA you should be good. I have been taking a scoop in between meals currently, partly because I love the taste. :o

That makes sense too. Looks like I'm gonna have to buy tubs of this stuff...LOL!

Please do the maths and post here then! Lol

If it's got 5g per scoop then great no need.

You sure it's not possibly from the stims?

My approximate guess was that the BCAA complex was 10-11 g based on effective doses of the other complex. So at 10:1:1 you are looking at +/- 8g leucine per serving (2 scoops) and also HICA which I am guessing to be 1.5 g per serving.

Again all just approximate guessing

It seems a shame to report that I appear to be the first (and only?) person to be having quite a lot of GI distress from Amino IV. :(

I had the same issue, but it seems to be transient, or it "went away". It hasn't been noticeable lately, but I did notice it the first week or so. Hopefully it does not return, I figured it had something to do with taking it on an empty stomach fasted....but that is about the only legit use for it that I see, so can't avoid that.

I add one scoop of Leucine to it (5 gm)....been doing that from day one actually.

I was wondering, do you guys count the 15g (or for me 20g) as "calories"? It would be 60-80 calories at 4 calories per gram for protein. I do not count the calories, but I count the aminos towards total protein for the day (so 0-20). Curious on others opinions....not like 80 calories, or 160 calories for 2 servings is that much but.....

I don't count it no, according to myfitness pal amino IV is -1 calorie somehow lol

That's the definition of an awesome PES product right there! Lol

Yeah. I believe im the one who submitted that to myfitnesspal. I put 0. Came out as -1.

I would think that around 2 grams or so should safely allow you to hit the 5 gram studied dose of leucine. Do you need a full 5 grams to get maximum effectiveness from the leucine in the context of the Amino IV formula though? Probably not.

I personally don't count the calories from something like this into my caloric budget. It's simply not that big of an impact at all for my overall day to day diet.

Yeah they kind of force you to take extra servings in place of whey protein scoops since whey counts for 120 calories and this stuff is "-1" , but you still "get credit" for adding to your protein intake/amino pool :D

yeah the calories are close to insignificant unless you start taking multiple 2 scoop doses throughout the day I suppose.....I just like to use it to boost my protein total for the day, and I figured it was "cheating" to count aminos as protein but not as calories.....although I do subscribe to the idea of not counting EAA and BCAA as calories.

I don't count them into my protein macros either :P It's like 10 grams or so, out of total protein intake, I don't feel the need to since I use it strictly as a intra right now.

I seriously dont understand intra. Preworkout meal should take care of everything.

I'm in the gym pretty much right after I get out of bed in the morning. So that's about 12 or more hours with having had no food in my system. I also never liked eating anything before I workout, I use to do it, just doesn't feel right in my gut regardless if it's just a shake (powder + water) or a banana. So my thought has been to get some simple carbs in that doesn't sit around in my gut along with some aminos. Plus over time, I went from 40-60 minute sessions to 2 hours or longer (depending on the split that day) sessions which gets pretty grueling.

For a normal person training in the day time or evening, I would agree with you, intra products are probably not all that useful.

I'm the same way, first thing in the morning after about 10-12 hours fasted. I also do not have ANY desire for food or drink (other than water or G2) in the morning, I'm usually nauseated by the thought of it actually. So aminos and the like are great pre-WO, I do most of it pre-WO....but I finish drinking the aminos/IV about mid-way through the workout or sooner....so mostly pre, but some intra. Same difference to me honestly...its only a matter of minutes to an hour :D

This..
Cooper even stated to take 1 scoop pre and 1 intra for fasted training.

I know l trytophan is more on a relaxing state amino profile, bit still they are one of the essential amino acid that our body cant produce by its own. Anyway i heard about mass pro synth that one of the very important amino in essential that be present is l trytophan.

To pes, why is it there is no l-trytophan in amino iv? Since it said to be an complete essential amino acid

I addressed this earlier, please search. Tryptophan is an aromatic amino acid that competes with the BCAAs for absorption in the gut. Not only would it diminish the efficacy of Amino IV, but the researchers who found that BCAAs prolong time to exhaustion hypothesized that they may block out tryptophan transport into the brain (again, they share the same transporter).

Masspro synthagen is unfortunately one of the biggest, non-science based marketing hype products ever IMO. Read the amino IV writeup, which cites sources for claims

just had my first serving today of the Blueberry Blast and was very solid... very realistic Blueberry flavor and very light. Forgot how much I liked intra BCAA's. Big thumbs up!

Very cold water really brings out the flavor.

blueberry blast more like blueberry barf. cissus powder taste better. its sickly sweet and tart at same time.

wish I would have bought 1 tub of each flavor vs 2 tubs of blueberry.

Yea I'm not really a fan of the blueberry, but I don't think it tastes like barf. Trade your in the classified section , mine was gone in a day

Ice cold is how I prefer both this and my alphamine. It's so amazing!!!
