Online company warning

I did some business recently with an online company called Suncoast Vitamins. They are located in Michigan. Ordered just a few things that I normally don't keep onhand. Mainly just to try them out. Had what seemed to be great prices. Got my order fairly quick too.

Last night I was checking my bank account online to see if my paycheck had gone in yet, and I noticed this company had deducted $50 out of my checking account. I was furious. Went to their site to see what was going on. Pulled up my account, saw my only order. Everything looked ok, then I noticed the last line item. "Free 14 day membership" and "No Charge". But it was an active link. So I clicked on it. Basically, I had agreed to join their "Club" for $50 a year. They had to bury it in the fine print.

I called them this morning and raised hell. They did credit my account back the $50 they took, but I had to threaten them with legal action.

Moral of the story: Make sure you read the fine print when you deal with a new company.

Seriously though, that's fucked up. I'm glad to know you got your money back. You should contact your bank and place a block on their company.
 
lol.. Yep. The item I was mainly after was out of stock at Nutra, but you are right.

I hadn't thought about a block on my account. Thats a good idea. I have to go to the bank today anyway. Thanks man.

No problem. There are only a handful of online companies that I trust enough to handle my debit/credit card. You just never know...

edit: just as i was typing that my NeoVar fell onto my desk, i almost had a heart attack! (i had it stacked on top of my orange triad) :( :(
 
those bastards for doing business like that, good thing you noticed and didn't get an overdraft charge because of it, I know a lot of people would not notice and they would come out smiling.
 
thats why i only order from 2 different online companies even if it cost a dollar or 2 more because i know i will not get a hassle and will receive my product in a timely manner.
 
should def block the account at your bank...they will "sign you up" again and again month after month if you dont take action.
