405 on rows is just nasty, just plain nasty!
Sled pulling
135lbs x .5mile cadenced forward and backward.
Had 20lbs worth of baby and carrier strapped to my stomach. I thought I got looks doing sled pulls around the neighborhood before. Try doing it at night with a baby strapped to you and a bunch of reflectors on for safety.
Anyway guess I'll be microloading my sled pulling sessions. Did better than I thought i would. But i guess i was walking around with more than that much weight no my body not to long ago so only the last couple months of slacking on the sled should be affecting me.
First day squatting heavy in probably 3 months. Also first time squatting in canvas since I have lost last 15lbs….and it isn’t doing much for me now as its pretty loose. Going to have to figure out what I’m going to have to do for a suit going into this meet. Nothing felt heavy…just no pop out of the hole making them real slow going up.
Also 35 deg in training room today! Damn I’ve got to get the guys over to finish sheetrocking and insulating.

New members to the gym joined today. An 800lb bencher and a 1000lb squatter and 2400+ total at 220 to name just a few.
This is now the second strongest training facility on the west coast that I am aware of.
What weight classes are all of these guys in besides the 220? That 2400 total at 220 is impressive, what is it's breakdown?
damn i gotta spread some reps around first. My son is turning 7 next month its crazy!
I make several classic "eat your vegetables if you wanna grow up big and strong." references. He's a tall skinny guy like me but full of steam and heart. He likes to do little things like show people that he can lift heavy objects.damn i gotta spread some reps around first.
that is awesome man! got him out training yet? Mine likes being in the gym even with the loud music clanging weights and yelling. Wife has come out several times when were lifting for him to check it out.
You have to pay to see the powerliftingwatch rankings now that's why I asked.
just a quick question....
I have been deadlifting convention for a long time and I am feeling a lot of stress on my back. My group of guys tell me that at heavier weights I am having trouble keeping my chest out and shoulders back. I have decided to switch into sumo deadlifts. Any advice for the transfer? I know you have done both in the past. I have a competition coming up in april and I am looking to get the sumo down by then to hopefully match my 425 conventional pull(even though the form sucked).
no unfortunately I don't own a camera. I was told that when I start the pull, my shoulders come forward and then my back curves. I am having trouble using my legs at the beginning of the pull and I think I am relying on my upper body too much.do you have a video of you pulling?

thanks kabuki, Ill give this a shot and let you know how it goes.you shouldn't use your legs. your hips/glutes may not be strong enough to drive your hips through in keeping under your back resulting in this problem. This is what i see most of the time.
All in all with Sumo technique is even more important and will likely be even more of a problem.
Although doing some sumo training will help with hip development and help with your conventional pull.
In my vids watch how my hips do all the work in coming forward. I have little to virtually no strain on my back by keeping it in position. But if my hips were to come up because they were not strong enough to drive forward fast enough my shoulders would come forward and I would be over the top of the bar.
Some speed training focusing on the quickness with the hips would be good. tons of singles with short rest 30-45 sec so that you get tired and your form wants to give...but you don't let it. here is a 5 week program for that. 15@65, 12@70, 10@75, 8@80, 6@85. Would be a great way to switch your technique over as well.
