Sled pulling

135lbs x .5mile cadenced forward and backward.

Had 20lbs worth of baby and carrier strapped to my stomach. I thought I got looks doing sled pulls around the neighborhood before. Try doing it at night with a baby strapped to you and a bunch of reflectors on for safety.

Anyway guess I'll be microloading my sled pulling sessions. Did better than I thought i would. But i guess i was walking around with more than that much weight no my body not to long ago so only the last couple months of slacking on the sled should be affecting me.

That made me laugh out loud visualizing that, what a memory for you kid to have just too cute! This has been an amzing log keep up the good work.

First day squatting heavy in probably 3 months. Also first time squatting in canvas since I have lost last 15lbs….and it isn’t doing much for me now as its pretty loose. Going to have to figure out what I’m going to have to do for a suit going into this meet. Nothing felt heavy…just no pop out of the hole making them real slow going up.
Also 35 deg in training room today! Damn I’ve got to get the guys over to finish sheetrocking and insulating.

First was an inch high but got it on second. Suit is still loose as hell and not doing all to much. Did get a new set of briefs which helps but they are same size as old ones just not broken in yet. Will likely go with a size smaller for the meet.

Kneeling Squats – had knees on 1.5” pad with feet flat on floor making this much harder this time as you have to go deeper and have less support to drive the hips forward when you base is leaning backwards. I liked it.

Sunday PM.
Snow had melted off the street so I did what was my only second pull this month…I need to get back in the groove of doing this ASAP!!! My 34 pants still fit fine but the wife noted a bit of the muffin top :)

It was a slower pull since my glutes were screaming after yesterdays workout and heavy pulling this week.

What weight classes are all of these guys in besides the 220? That 2400 total at 220 is impressive, what is it's breakdown?

if you look on the all time list on powerlifting watch for 220 the breakdown is there. i know he has missed his 1000 squat and 800 dead several times in comp.

Most eveyone ranges from 198 to 275. I do have a 181 joining the team but he has some work to do to bring his lifts back up to previous levels before competeing...but he used to be pretty good before he quit what must have been about 5-7 years ago.

i'm in the 198's now.

My son is turning 7 next month its crazy!
damn i gotta spread some reps around first.

that is awesome man! got him out training yet? Mine likes being in the gym even with the loud music clanging weights and yelling. Wife has come out several times when were lifting for him to check it out.

Had trouble focusing a bit last night. Was in meeting with Boeing panel last 2 days and today was my day for presenting the forward direction for the company. Went very well…so well it looks like I’m heading to Austria in early march prior to the PL Meet, to spend time with another major customer.

I make several classic "eat your vegetables if you wanna grow up big and strong." references. He's a tall skinny guy like me but full of steam and heart. He likes to do little things like show people that he can lift heavy objects.
I had a curl bar set up for preachers and he was deading it, like 60 pounds for 4 or 5 before i told him to stop and be careful. I wont encourage lifting but sports are wide open until he's done growing. He's doing stuff like holding the 4l milk jug above his head and picking up his brothers to prove to me he can eat kraft dinner, lol. He has two bro's from another dude.

You have to pay to see the powerliftingwatch rankings now that's why I asked.

not the rankings the all-time list. that is available without paying.

number 9 on squat and 11 on total. Looks like his 4th attempts in that meet didn't count towards total.

Very very sick on Saturday. Did some playing around with different gear combo’s to no avail. Tried a metal Ace brief under my canvas. It tightened up my loose canvas but I didn’t like it compared to the preds even though the suit is loose with them on.
Also had some balance issues but could have been due to sickness.

Worked up to 755 for a high squat as I couldn’t hit depth with the gear.

just a quick question....
I have been deadlifting convention for a long time and I am feeling a lot of stress on my back. My group of guys tell me that at heavier weights I am having trouble keeping my chest out and shoulders back. I have decided to switch into sumo deadlifts. Any advice for the transfer? I know you have done both in the past. I have a competition coming up in april and I am looking to get the sumo down by then to hopefully match my 425 conventional pull(even though the form sucked).

do you have a video of you pulling?
no unfortunately I don't own a camera. I was told that when I start the pull, my shoulders come forward and then my back curves. I am having trouble using my legs at the beginning of the pull and I think I am relying on my upper body too much.

you shouldn't use your legs. your hips/glutes may not be strong enough to drive your hips through in keeping under your back resulting in this problem. This is what i see most of the time.

All in all with Sumo technique is even more important and will likely be even more of a problem.

Although doing some sumo training will help with hip development and help with your conventional pull.

In my vids watch how my hips do all the work in coming forward. I have little to virtually no strain on my back by keeping it in position. But if my hips were to come up because they were not strong enough to drive forward fast enough my shoulders would come forward and I would be over the top of the bar.

Some speed training focusing on the quickness with the hips would be good. tons of singles with short rest 30-45 sec so that you get tired and your form wants to give...but you don't let it. here is a 5 week program for that. 15@65, 12@70, 10@75, 8@80, 6@85. Would be a great way to switch your technique over as well.

Later that day I negotiated a deal to buy another 6k in equipment for my gym. Lots a cool stuff like DB’s to 150, specialty bars, and other stuff I’m missing.

Thursday,
SUCKED
Barely made it till the afternoon. Had a red bull for the first time in probably 9 months…and still fell asleep right away. Got a call in the evening that all the equipment had been bought out from under me as well. Suck.

Anyway I finally feel good after getting some uninterrupted rest in the hotel last night.

good day. wore some thick underwear and it tightened up both my loose breifs and loose suit. Also had some sleep the last 2 nights!!!

Had my son with me the whole workout. He was wide eyed and loves the activity and sound in the gym.

but came down nice and clean and was moving up pretty good. Think this would work well if i had some more time with it before the meet.

Changed to my loose suit after spending a bunch of time getting the tight one off.
745x1 hit depth

tightened up loose suit a little bit with some thicker briefs (still had suit on if 15 seconds)
795x1 hit depth

skipped all my assistance work again, but got a lot of squats in.

My home gym....not as cool as some but everything I need.

wahh, some sick weight on the bar there and dude - you leaned up HEAPS!

Thanks, I just took some caliper measurements this morning. What they calculate out to means jack **** as it’s obviously not right…but the delta between where I started does mean something.

April last year (average of 3 measurements)
Thighs 15mm*
Chest 14mm*
Abs 22mm*
Abdomen @ Widest 42”
* Taken about 3 weeks into the start of my cut after loosing several lbs first.

This morning (took largest of 3 measurements)
Thighs 6mm
Chest 6mm
Abs 9mm
Abdomen @ widest 34.5”

Now the recent measurements say i'm at below 7% BF wich is absolute HORSESHIT. I'm guessing I'm in the very low teens however. I'm about 214 in the morning and 218 in the evening right now. Down 30lbs from when I started and 40lbs from my peak.

The combo of Recreate, Anabolic Pump, and a decent diet has done wonders.
