Is Agmatine the holy-grail of supplements?

I've never really understood the whole "pump" thing tbh. If I want to get a great "pump" all I need to do is load up on sugar preworkout then do multiple sets of high reps.

+1.
Btw pump is overly overrated. The only place pump is useful is in the third leg...

Agmatine 90 caps at 250mg per cap is on sale at Nutraplanet now for $9.87 per bottle. The 180 capsule bottle is $33.99....So you can actually get 3 bottles of the 90 caps for a total of $29.61. That would be 270 caps for less than the cost of a 180 capsule bottle!. This deal is just redonk-u-less!

hmm, which of these were Agmapure? Im wondering if using Agmapure actually makes a difference...

I liked it taste, consistency, and effects are are similar to when I used to use SNS brand

Ours is very good quality. I've noticed when I have tried some other brands it just isn't as potent.

I've tried several brands and have stuck with SNS. Love the orange caps :) and quality is obviously there.
yes sir! just bought a couple of the 90 count bottles last night. sick pumps here I come!

I just started taking this again, but wondering what's the best protocol if only mood and anxiety is my concern. Wondering if 500mg twice a day or 1 gram upon waking would be better...?

I enjoy the mood and relaxation benefits. Usually just 1 gram before bed for me, but it doesn't work so well for the relaxation and mood if your stomach isn't empty. I'd try both ways Green. One gram might be a little much and could possibly make you tired.

if it is that strong of a relaxant then why would they put it in pre workouts? not arguing, genuinely asking

I also get tired when using Agmatine, I get it with Nitrates too . Is it not blood pressure?

As much as I love the pumps from High volume I might need to stop due to this :(

I love agmatine before bed though, Makes me tired and i wake up feeling dry/pumped. I do take large dosages at a time though. 3g at once.

Pumps and it's usually stacked with stimulants to off-set the tiredness that may come from it. It's also an individual reaction. I get the same thing with nitrates, but as long as I stack with enough stimulants I'm good!. Some guys it just doesn't effect/affect like it does me. I don't get a pump from it either, but I don't get pumps from much of anything. If do get a pump it lasts all of 30 seconds to 1 minute. Agmatine has a ton of different benefits.

Agmatine, Arginine & the Nitric Oxide Category of Sports Nutrition:

Arginine and its various forms have long been popular supplements in the realm of sports nutrition. A number of years back, the category of Nitric Oxide supplements was born with Arginine AKG, and several subsequent forms of Arginine followed including Arginine Ethyl Ester and DiArginine Malate.

Don't get us wrong, we aren't bashing Arginine in its various forms. For years now, Arginine products have served as the backbone to the Nitric Oxide family of supplements. They were good enough to create & sustain a category of sports supplementation all to itself. We are just saying that Agmatine goes beyond arginine in many ways, and can even be taken along with other Arginine based products.

See, the Arginine forms were good enough to create a category of sports supplementation all to itself. Now, Agmatine helps take it not one, but several steps further.

Pre-Workout Nitric Oxide Increase & Increased Pumps:

While it is debatable from a performance perspective whether a pre-workout increase in nitric oxide or increased pumps are beneficial, many individuals thrive off of achieving a better pump in the gym, and also appearing more pumped and vascular outside the gym.

Agmatine not only delivers in terms of improved pumps, but most users also report that the pumps achieved with Agmatine are more sustained and long lasting than with many other 'Old School' N.O. products.

And, while the performance effects of improved pre-workout N.O. levels may remain debatable from a performance perspective, Agmatine has much more to offer than just this one benefit. As a matter of fact, you could almost consider walking around with full, hard, pumped muscles simply a nice side effect of Agmatine supplementation when compared to some of its other benefits.

Examining the Benefits of Agmatine Point by Point:

Increased Pumps – As discussed above, enhanced pumps and pre-workout N.O. levels may not be as beneficial from a performance perspective as some of us were lead to believe in the past, but they are a definite contributor to an overall good looking muscular physique. And, let's face it, most people love the feel of that intense pump when they work out. And with Agmatine, most experience longer lasting pumps than with many other 'Old School' N.O. products.
Antioxidant Role – In today's society, the way we eat, the air we breathe, it can all take its toll on our bodies. And as if the day to day stresses of normal life aren't bad enough, the day to day life of bodybuilders or athletes can be even more taxing and lead to even more free radical buildup than with the average person. Agmatine's antioxidant properties are a very nice extra benefit to a compound that already has so much to offer.
Improved Insulin Response – Agmatine may help improve insulin response through enhanced insulin production, which can lead to positive benefits for those looking to improve body composition. Improved insulin response is thought of in bodybuilding circles as a key to a leaner, harder, more muscular body.
Nootropic Effect – Agmatine may help those looking to achieve a mental edge, whether it is in the gym or in day to day life. It can also help support a healthy mood and has anti-anxiety and antidepressant properties. Agmatine may stack very well with other Nootropics, including Focus XT.
Stimulation of LH & GH Levels - In addition to the obvious appealing effect on overall body composition, the stimulation of GH and LH levels can also be beneficial for helping maintain a healthy lifestyle as we age. This stimulation of pituitary hormones may also lead to stimulation of other hormones such as IGF-1.
Neuroprotective Role – Agmatine plays a neuroprotective role due to its role as an antioxidant and its prevention of over excitation by glutamate.
Cardiovascular Benefits – Agmatine has a potential hypotensive benefit that may help aid in cardiovascular health. This hypotensive role is important in a healthy lifestyle for obvious reasons, but may also be found to be beneficial for bodybuilders or athletes that use stimulants or hormone based compounds that may cause elevations.

Agmatine does not get as much praise as it should on other boards for the effects outside of pump.

I will say that regarding agmatine SNS is the only one I found effective. Not sure if I should name them but tried 3 others at cheaper prices and won't ever again, Its not like SNS is expensive anyway.

I wonder if it's the drop in BP you're noticing, instead of actual tiredness. Only jumping to that as you mentioned it in similar fashion to nitrates.

I always take 1g pre-workout, whether it's included in my pre workout product of choice at that time, a standalone ingredient stacked with my pre workout, or as a stack to my pre if it has less than 1g of it itself. I take 500mg pre-bed as well and whenever I have a high carb day, I'll throw in 500mg before my couple largest meals. All told, I'll take 1.5g on a low carb day and upwards of 2.5g total on a high carb day.

On a side note, when I take 500mg 15-30 minutes pre high carb meal, I get better pumps and vascularity than 1g pre workout.

Surely it would take a significant drop in purity for it to be noticeable, unless what else was in there was particularly detrimental. You're not going to notice 95% vs 98% (say).

No of course not, and I doubt low dosing would take place with relatively inexpensive ingredients.

Just really the only cause for noted differences with the same ingredient.

Otherwise it is placebo (if a brand markets it better)
Or some people see differences in effect time between capsules and powders

All the studies I've seen regarding this compound look great, except this one...

Agmatine induces glutamate release and cell death in cultured rat cerebellar granule neurons

Abstract
We investigated the effect of agmatine on cell viability of rat cerebellar granule neurons in a high-K+ (27.5 mM) medium. Exposure of cultured rat cerebellar granule neurons to agmatine (200–800 μM) resulted in a significant decrease in cell viability. Agmatine-induced neuronal death began to occur 6–12 h after addition, and gradually progressed. The agmatine neurotoxicity was attenuated by N-methyl-d-aspartate (NMDA) receptor antagonists and by enzymatic degradation of l-glutamate with glutamic pyruvic transaminase. Furthermore, a significant increase in extracellular l-glutamate concentration was detected before cell death occurred. In addition, agmatine-induced glutamate release and cell death were both blocked by pretreatment with botulinum toxin C, which is known to specifically inhibit the exocytosis. The agmatine neurotoxicity was not observed when extracellular K+ concentration was lower (10 mM). These results suggest that agmatine induces glutamate release through the exocytosis and thereby causes NMDA receptor-mediated neuronal death in conditions in which extracellular K+ concentrations are elevated.

I love 1500 mg agmatine and 2-400 mg coffeine preworkout.
Right now i have been using whiteblood2 for a week. I feel pumps and vascularity is just as good with agamatine.
While agamitne does not seem to do much to libido, but whiteblood 2 is giving a viagra like hardons ( stupidly hard) after about 5 days... Does not beat the real deal( tried several times, great fun, just a quarter v pill can make me have sex in a burning house without losing the hardon lol) but if you function fine, this stuff really gives a boost.

Agmatine however is imo. Slightly better for preworkout since i can take it without carbs.
Combining is fun too, dosing whitblood 1-1-1 during the day, add 1-1,5 g of agmatine creates a sick pump, with crazy vascularity
