God she is so damn fine!

you should deliver some more water there!

Southern chicks aren't really my style. There are two kinds...

Southern Belle: These are your "Daddy's girls" type. STAY AWAY! They know little about what it means to be a wife, and will suck every penny from you without a thank you.

Redneck: These chicks are usually a lot of fun. Know how to have a good time. Usually know how to treat a guy right...but all that's ever on their minds is hunting and college football.

he left out the part about shaving only on weekends, no deodorant after the monthly shower and the fact that they weight 50 lbs more than you while still standing 1 foot shorter.

If you like, I can set up a date for ya?

:D

Ya, some of them are definitely overweight, but a lot of their bodies somehow use cornbread, biscuits, and mash potatoes as a worthy fuel source, and don't retain any extra weight from it. :dunno:

so tonight was back day. wasn't feelin' too great mostly because i was only able to squeeze in two meals -- had a hectic day at the office and another comin' tomorrow.

so here we go:
deadlifts
lbs x sets x reps
215 x 3 x 3
195 x 3 x 5
175 x 3 x 7
155 x 3 x 9
135 x 3 x 12
man i was tired after these. i probably got about 2 or 3 minutes between the later sets, but after these my lower back felt soo ph*ckin' pumped!

seated cable rows
70 x 15, 85 x 12, 100 x 8, 85 x 10, 70 x 10

rear delt flies
x 15, x 12, x 10

i was completely exhausted leaving the gym. not really pleased with the gym, especially that i only put in two upper back lifts, but i had absolutely nothing left -- the tank was empty. gonna hit the gym early tomorrow with shoulders and some arms.

Thursday Arms:
Skullcrushers
50 lbs + EZ curl bar
3 sets til failure
Close grip bench press
155 x 9
175 x 5
185 x 4
Rope Pulldowns
3 sets til failure

Ez bar curls
50lbs + ez curl bar
3 sets til failure

Alternating DB curls
30 lbs
3 sets til failure

Reverse Curls
30lbs + ez curl bar
3 sets til failure

didn't quite make it to the gym on friday, so i went yesterday instead. shoulders and arms:

tricep rope pushdowns SS EZ Bar Cable Curls
lbs x reps x sets || lbs x reps x sets
65 x 3 x 3 || 65 x 3 x 3
57.5 x 5 x 3 || 57.5 x 5 x 3
50 x 7 x 3 || 35 x 7 x 3
42.5 x 9 x 3 || 30 x 9 x 3
35 x 12 x 3 || 20 x 12 x 3
my bi's were getting pretty tired, so i bumped the weight down to finish the sets. my arms felt so jacked after these. even putting my headphones in was almost a challenge cause i couldn't bend my arms that far.

DB Side Raises
10 x 15,15 x 12,20 x 10,15 x 12

DB Overhead Tricep Extensions (1 DB)
40 x 15, 50 x 12, 55 x 10

Preacher Curls
45 x 12, 55 x 10, 45 x 12

Rev EZ Bar Curls
35 x 12, 35 x 12, 35 x 12

Overhead Press on Smith Machine
20 x 15, 40 x 12, 60 x 10, 80 x 6 SS 60 x 4
--Not sure of the weight of the bar on this machine (if any), so the numbers are what was loaded on either side

Shrugs
135 x 12, two 45 plates one in each hand x 15

:bb2: nice workouts holmies!

so, was doing some reading this weekend, and i've decided that doing an absurd amount of reps solely on one exercise (say, for instance, 108 reps on flat bench spread over 15 sets) isn't what i'm going for. so i've done some reading about some of arnold's routines, and his views on weightlifting, and i've adapted a routine laid out in his encyclopedia of bodybuilding, which i will start tonight and, if i like it, will continue for the next several months with it.

tonight's workout was nothing short of awesome. i think i'm really gonna dig this new routine that i've put together.

tonight was chest and back

bb bench press - 135 x 15 (warmup) 145 x 10, 155 x 8, 165 x 6, 185 x 4 (will increase weights next WO)
cable flies - (warmup on Nautilus fly machine 10 reps), 40 x 10, 60 x 8, 70 x 6
bb inclince bench press - 75 x 12 (warmup) 95 x 10, 105 x 8, 115 x 6, 135 x 6 (will increase weight next WO)
--- 30 minutes or so break, had to switch gyms ---
dips x15, x10, x8
pullovers (db) 20 x 15, 35 x 8, 35 x 8, (on machine) 65 x 15
----i'm probably going to stick with the machine because i was feeling something weird in my upper back while doing the DB pullovers, so until i figure out what i was doing wrong, i'm going to stick to the machine

Pullups - 10,9 (failure), 8 (failure), 7(failure)
Lat Pulldowns 85 x 10, 100 x 10
SS Lat Pulldowns Behind the Neck 85 x 10, 100 x 10
Cable Rows 70 x 15, 85 x 10, 100 x 6

Crunches x 20, x10, x10

Chest day...
Bench
135 x 10
165 x 5
190 x 5
195 x 5
205 x 5
205 x 3

Nautilus flies
1 set x 8
1 set x 7
Was going for one more rep when my vision went black and my head starting screaming. I put my hands on my head and the next thing I remember was laying on the mat trying not to throw up. My kinesiology buddy let me know that I had just suffered a benign exertional headache.
Called it quits came home iced my head and slept for 2 hours. It is now 3 hours later. I got up and ate... and now I am feeling a little nauseous and a slight pain in my forehead.
I will mostly call of my training session tomorrow and resume on wednesday.

I really hope you see the student health center about that. Hope you start feeling better.

Sweet w/o bud! It is sooo easy to get form wrong on any exercises, especially db pullovers. Where were you putting your back on the bench? Were your hips lowered? Were you elbows slightly bent? The pullover machine is cool but its not a good enough substitute for db pullovers. The machine hits more your lats and serratus than it does chest. Just my .02c.
Chest day...
Bench
135 x 10
165 x 5
190 x 5
195 x 5
205 x 5
205 x 3

...

i actually tried several positions for the db pullovers. I tried with my shoulder blades just off the edge, i tried in the middle of my back, any lower and the weight lifted my feet off the other side. my arms were always slightly bent, and i'm pretty sure that my hips were lowered, although i don't recall exactly how they were. any suggestions?

Yo Orb, whats your diet lookin like?

my diet is pretty simple. eat medium sized meals, but continue eating all day. i've upped my daily protein intake a lot (nectar is just sooo good!) but other than that i'm not taking any dietary supps. i'm trying to drink a glass or two of milk with every meal and eat all the main food groups. it's not very rigid or organized but i think that the less i think about it, the better i'll do.

Had to join in on the fun

so my headache/migraine is still present but standard time for an exertional headache ranges up to 48 hours so I am not really concerned. If all goes well I will be back to lifting tomorrow.
I will try to hit back tomorrow night then shoulders Friday morning and arms Friday night.

Orb Id suggest watching some youtube vids on db pullovers and study them.

Tyler, that sucks bro. These things happen when you are a bb addict tho :dunno:

Heal up fool!

well... tried to lift tonight... got 8 pull ups... pr... then couldnt lift anymore. My head hurt so bad. I left and came back and laid down. Trying to get an emergency DR's appt tomorrow but if that doesnt work I will have to wait until next friday.

Man, I'd get that checked out. That's pretty serious.

I called Tuesday. The day after it happened. The first available appointment was next Friday. I am calling again tomorrow telling them it is serious and I need to see someone. Hopefully I can get in tomorrow.

now for tonight's workout: chest and back

bench: 135 x 12 (warmup), 145 x 10, 160 x 8, 175 x 6, 190 x 4.5
flys: x10, x8, x6
incline: 95 x 12 (warmup), 105 x 10, 115 x 8, 125 x 6, 135 x 6 (will increase weight)
pullups: bw x 10, x10, x10, x8 (set to failure)
lat pulldowns: 70 x 10, 80 x 10 (will increase weight or reps)
SS behind neck lat pulldowns: 70 x 10, 80 x 10 (will increase weight or reps)
cable X-overs: 60 x 10, 80 x 8, 100 x 5 --this last set was tough cause i'm only 142lbs!
cable rows: 75 x 10, 90 x 8, 105 x 8, 120 x 6 (will increase weight or reps)
db pullovers: 25 x 15, 30 x 15, 35 x 15 (will increase weight) finally got these right, didn't feel any pain in my upper back!

so... I called the Dr. No room for me today. They suggested I go to the hospital so that is where I will be spending the rest of my day.

Damn man. Im really sorry to hear about all this. PM comn your way.

so the doctor thinks that it is either an aneurysm or a concussion. I am going to get an MRA now to see which it is.
He thinks that pressure built up in my brain when I was lifting and gave me the same effect a concussion would have without getting hit.
After the results from the MRA are determined, I have to see a neurologist and determine if this will continue happening in the future and I should quit lifting or if this was a one time deal.
