I just got back from Parris Island, sc and I have earned the title to call myself a United States Marine. Recruit training was a life changing experince. I lost 20 lbs well at recruit training. So I am looking to put 25 lbs back on within the next year. So how has everyone of the form been?

is the marine training the one where they dont let you sleep for 5 days or somethnig crazy like that and only 10% actually finish the course? congrats either way

Congratulations!

How was it?

Survival, Evasion, Resistance and Escape- its basicaly being a prisoner of war and trying to evade. its impossible. they are allowed to break 2 minor bones.
seals, sf, rangers, pilots all must go through it

Just messing with you, I heard about SERE.... :D

What level were you required to take? how hard is it and when did you go through?

i went through selection for sf. broke my femur in a jump and that was the end of it. im glad though

SERE isn't impossible and they aren't allowed to break bones. Most people make it through. It's not school to weed people out, it's to teach. At the point of SERE most students already have a lot of government funding over their heads (read: pilots), they aren't oging to kick a pilot out because he didn't skin a rabbit fast enough.

well, being someone that went through it and 2 years ago did a 6 month duty as a medic there i would disagree. i had two fingers broken.
The bone breaking thing is for the 'intensified' special operations SERE. Its supervised by a medical doctor (although it may not be obvious to you) and it is typically a little finger on your off hand...

I leave for MCT in a few days I go theyre to do some field training. Then I go to Pensacola for Crew Cheif school, then I go to SERE school. It kinga strange that SERE school was brought up, because my MOS requires me to attend SERE school. I hope they dont really break any bones, that would suck. Any of you prior service, or in the service?

still in, but getting out asap.
i worked as a sere medical evaluator.

i had it good when i went through. i was in the ssere course and it was rough but i had about 4 e-7's slapping me one day while i had to sit there and after awhile the left side of my face was pretty swollen. they asked me if there was anything i had to say... like the smart *** i am i replied with "are any of you guys left handed?"
they kind of left me alone after that but i wouldnt recomend doing anything like that.
