I had guessed the Rogue hi handles were about 16” pick height, but they’re actually at 17” (8 extra inches is crazy high for a Trapbar). My best is 635 on a traditional 2-3” hi handle, but this is still the best I’ve done so far on this. Felt like I had one more in me, but it wasn’t worth what it would have cost - this was a good stimulus & I still had my energy to squat.
That’s a lot of total weight volume moved in that workout…..you’ll be feeling that tomorrow.

Pretty happy with today’s performance. Knocking out 3x10+ at 250lbs on chin-ups is a great place to get back to, and kind of came out of nowhere.

With natural gas prices higher now (it already cost me $10+ to heat the garage in the deep of last winter), I think I’m going to do some training at a local barbell club this go around. Went and talked to the owner, who I’ve known for probably 6 years now from a previous gym, before training today. For $50/month it will probably end up save me some money, and give me some more flexibility to lift when my son is asleep (and a different environment when I want it). They have a beltsquat, so I am definitely looking forward to that once I get my elbow surgery.

That’s definitely some impressive chin-ups at that body weight.

Wow major improvements on the chin ups. I was actually getting decent at my pull ups before the shoulder surgery. I can't wait to get back to them. I should be able to try some in about 3-4 weeks.

Fasted til 3pm on Tuesday and finished the day with about 2,250 calories. Yesterday I trained like usual in the morning and consumed ~4300 calories (and was still starving all day). Woke up to a new low off 249.4 today.

Hunger sucks, but I truly love it so much more than forcing meals when full. I know I have said that when bulking, & I absolutely still feel that way now while trying to lean out. I love enjoying my food.

Yeah, I have a relatively low caloric intake requirement and even force feeding a relatively low fat diet of 3000 calories can be a chore for me if getting in good amounts of fiber and not using sweet sugary carbs to get me through it.

Congrats on the new low!

Not that I have an established 1RM on this lift variation, but that 13” boxsquat was ~600lbs at the top & definitely a personal best on the SSB. I feel I could have taken a single at 400lb bar weight if I had to, so that felt good. Reverse Hypers tomorrow on lunch break!

Woke up yesterday to a new low of 248.8lbs.

Left ankle had swelling & a limp, both knees were having niggles, and some extra ham pain behind the right knee told me to hold off on the reverse hypers until today. Took a slow 10 min walk in the morning due to the short steps I had to take. Got some gripper work in later, plus another slow 20 min walk with the family before taking the wife out for a late date - best Italian joint in town! Some much needed quality time.

My first wife was Italian and she was a great cook, I love Italian food - Maybe that is way I weighted 235lbs ! Give those legs a rest and some good nutrition!

Congrats on the new low and having what sounds like an awesome meal. Totally understand just walking it off when you are beat up like that. Longevity Baby, that is the name of the game. Very hard to be consistent when you have trained yourself into an overuse injury.

Lol still human; woke to my alarm today for training and I was so tired & my ankle hurt so bad I just got back in bed. It being deload week made it too easy to give up! I did get some work in on my lunch break though.

He stole the Titan Ram’s idea after it was already a product, patented it, and then threatened to sue them out of producing it. He ran off the Metal Catapult and any other products just like his own that he was not smart enough to invent, just douchey enough to legally monopolize.

Clint Darden said he was reading Power magazine and saw a photo in it that HE took professionally being used. He was totally flabbergasted, and excited, to be featured. When he tried to contact Mark initially about it & maybe doing more work for them, he was ignored. Eventually, Smelly flat out threatened him saying there’s no proof it was his content and to piss off. He had just stolen content (see the theme?) with no interest in sharing profit with the creator.

I realized at 16 that it's not about being the first to invent a new idea, you gotta be the first to market it. looks like more living proof there (even if unethical)

Yeah although nothing illegal I agree it is a bit slimy. Unfortunate because he is a pretty funny guy and has some good guests on his videos. Hard to believe he did that to Darden, I can see the whole thing with the patent even though I can't say I approve. However, something as simple as using a photo of Darden's and not giving him credit for the picture to give an assist is a little more personal and less savory to me.

I really didn't know much about him outside of the documentary his brother made. I've always watched him at a surface level so I didn't have a negative connotation before this info.

Great news - been calling the MRI place the last 3 days with no answer or callback from VM, so I eventually started calling the physician’s scheduling to talk with a supervisor, who confirmed insurance accepted the claim and got me scheduled for this Saturday morning.

EMG to test my ulnar nerve goes down tomorrow morning, then an MRI of the elbow early Saturday!

Good news on your EMG, hopefully all goes well today and Saturday for your MRI.🙏

Thanks everyone!

Well, the plot thickens: neurologist says my arm muscles are firing well and he does not believe there’s any inhibition of my ulnar nerve in my elbow. He did see my left hand responses are delayed, and when he hit my left knee the right side also jumps, indicative of something further up the line.

He believes I should get the MRI on my neck, to check for an impairment somewhere on my cervical spine.

Followed up with my doctors nurse and she’ll have him talk to the neurologist tomorrow. So I’m not sure if I’m getting the MRI on my elbow now Saturday.

Good deload, got some unilateral pressing volume done in lieu of the normal max effort work. The Williams Extensions either tied a PR or 5lbs less, but either way very happy to be that strong with them right now. Pump was pretty gnarly (and sweaty) with a full cc of Stampede preWO.

Switched my cruise back to 150/100 test/mast today. Been feeling too dry on 120/120 last couple weeks - even adding 10mg Pregnenolone daily the last week, which normally is very estrogenic/progestogenic for me. So hopefully this will swing things back into a wetter, more comfortable ratio.

Man, I hope you don’t have any cervical spine impairment. I have that from a couple of disc, but thankfully it’s manageable as long as I don’t do anything stupid. Thank God I haven’t had to get surgery. When it does act up it usually causes me pain or numbness in my shoulder blades, but I have an excellent Chiropractor that usually is able to fix me right up with an adjustment. According to where yours may be at, and the disc or nerve that’s affected, it’s pretty amazing how many different areas can have symptoms that don’t seem to be connected at all. Thankfully a good Neurologist can pinpoint spinal issues you may have really accurately now, so hopefully it’s just something out of alignment causing pressure or a pinch on the nerve and not something more serious. The good thing is it sounds like you’ve caught it early, if there is an issue, which makes any treatment much more effective.

honestly sounds like a pretty fun bar game, hitting you in random places after a few beers to see which limb hits back

Damn it on the possibility of cervical issues. I was dealing with one a while back to. When I would turn my head the wrong way my shoulder would flare up and then my thumb index and middle finger would go numb. I had a few adjustments and it got a little better then when I stopped lifting during COVID it seems to have somehow autocorrected or just not been inflamed enough to cause problems. This was during my PT for my right shoulder injury, where I initially thought the dry needling was the cause of the nerve issue.

This made me laugh so hard!

Like @gphagan1 suggested, we’ve got a doctor in town who does some good spine work. I’ve spotted him at meets and his training & he is a sharp dude. My wife was getting shoulder issues & numbness in her circus dumbbell pressing arm, and his X-rays showed a misalignment in her c-spine that was pinching a nerve. For about $3k he non-surgically got her back into alignment over months, out of pain, and got her pressing power back & balanced. So I think if we find a discrepancy he may be a great resource I have seen work personally.

Talked with the nurse - we’re going to proceed with the elbow MRI this Saturday & see what that shows, & consider exploring my neck if it doesn’t turn up any other obvious physical issues.

Great session. Bit tough mentally to skip squatting, but I need this ankle to improve - some blood under the skin after last Monday’s free squatting, so some kind of soft tissue on the outside just above the ankle bone is slightly torn. Boxsquatting didn’t cause it, but it still stressed it out last week after the acute trauma. Sticking to deadlifting tonight was much kinder, and I made huge progress on my RDLs.

Smart training as always Sir!

I really liked adding the ham raise to the back extension warmups btw! That felt very useful.
Yeah out of things I just randomly decided to try this has been one of my favorite results.

MRI went well this morning - tech said she thought we got some really good images for the doctor to look at this week.

My arm wasn’t going to clear the ceiling with it turned palm up and propped on the pad like she needed for imaging, but I did some quick manual therapy/stretching on it and then held a small weight in my palm throughout the session and we got it to straighten out just enough to slide my body into the oven

As much as I know MRIs are needed, I’ve always hated them because almost every injury they check it seems you have to put it in the most uncomfortable or painful position to get the correct images for the Doctor. Hopefully they will be able to see what it is, and it will be an easy fix.

I hope it's a quick, painless fix !!

I believe I can do more with the wide grip, but I wanted to keep it apples to apples. Plus I think the mid grip is a better builder.

These were actually down in strength for sure, but I haven’t been doing them either.

I just did 305x6 & 315x5 2-3 months back which was a PR, on a random training day trying them. Think I did 275-295x8-10 prior that day, just going off memory.
