Hyde’s Strength Odyssey

December at the latest. The gym I just competed at has one then and the friend I made is already signed up for it (he is a medic & summer is too busy for him to train seriously).

Quite possibly sooner, but I think I want to take things a bit lower and slower, both drugs and bodyweight. I just want to keep driving steady progress, without taking so much that I get hurt from growing too fast or have to stop the blast because I can’t handle the doses much longer.

I am mentally preparing to climb the mountain, and it cannot be a sprint. I want to go the distance.
I think that is the best way, and why I didn't mention anything sooner than the fall. However with your love of competition I didn't think you would want to wait too long. have you considered just entering the 242 class at whatever healthy weight you show up at rather than pushing weight for better leverages, or just going with a quick period of overfeeding to fill out more?

I am not planning on force-feeding anytime soon, or trying for some fast growth. If I blow up, it definitely won’t be from a bunch of drugs or food, just what my body wanted to do.

Forcing weight gain rapidly would only happen if I was in striking distance of a lifetime goal on bench or squat & I believed it would be the difference in make/miss. It’s a poor payout, but 10lbs of weight gain is 10lbs on bench for me, so it’s a last resort (and much safer than extra drugs, tendon-wise).

What types of doses are you considering with your oils? I am contemplating another Oil based cycle and am curious what you have in mind for a moderate to mild cycle.

I’m not sure what I will take yet, but probably starting at 3-500mg total. Probably test & mast and/or NPP, since those vials are open. I am leaning on starting around 300-350 since I’m at 150 test now and not in a rush.

I’m not really viewing it as a cycle, more like a long course of indefinite length.

Makes sense to me! If you run it longer, IE 4-8 months or whatever will you add in something like proviron to limit SHBG?

I like this smart approach.

Makes sense to me! If you run it longer, IE 4-8 months or whatever will you add in something like proviron to limit SHBG?

My understanding is that most DHT derivatives & SARMs will drive SHBG down especially hard, and once total weekly AAS is over that half a gram/wk range, the sheer androgen load pretty much keeps it crushed down. Like just taking 600mg test/wk will tank it, let alone incorporating any mast, primo, Var, Proviron, Winny, any of the SARMs. So I’m all set.

It’s never something I bother testing on bloodwork for this reason - I always get the results, and it takes care of itself. It’s guys on real TRT for long periods that can get the issues with high SHBG over time, especially with smaller more frequent injections. For them, all the herbal stuff like tongkat Ali, cycling boron, or switching to once a week bigger shots for a while are some non-PED options to bring it back down.

Good squat session last night; had the barbell club opened up and enjoyed the spring weather. Just trying to build some work capacity right now. Put the Spud briefs on to stay a bit safer while still getting a bit more weight on my back. 465 was easy, but I resisted the urge to work higher and got the volume in as planned!

Great looking workouts

NICE! You have 2 killer sessions in a row here, LOTS OF VOLUME!!!! Good stuff Sir!

Thanks guys! I think I’m going to do another long fast starting this afternoon, so like last week I really needed to make these sessions count.
I was actually entertaining idea of doing 4 training days in a row to get my sessions in then doing another 2-4 day fast. Although after smacking 208.4 in the mouth this morning weight loss is moving pretty good. The autophagy is something that makes it sound attractive.

Getting in some nice workouts with good volume….I feel you on that when you hit that last set of an exercise and it feels easy, and you just want to add more weight and get one more set. Back when I was younger I burned myself out quite a few times with that one more set mentality. Like you’ve said before, best to leave a little in the tank and avoid injury, and increase and progress further next time. You just learned that way younger than I did. Truthfully when I would see your post when I first got really active on here I thought you were older with the knowledge and insight I would see you share. It’s actually refreshing seeing young guys that work hard and smart and that doesn’t think the world owes them. You earn your stripes with hard work.💪

same, I was hugely guilty of it when competing in xfit. massive strength set back for years. there are days though now when I leave some in the tank for a couple weeks that am well fed and crave that feeling of utter destruction with a planned huge recovery meal...

That squat felt so good, and some months back I did 501 in those gateway briefs on the Buffalo bar. So I thought ‘you know you could probably take 505 today’, BUT I remembered the point was not max effort. I was wearing the brief as precaution for my ham from the other week when that RDL got me after being sick/flat: not time to push it.

So I thought, ‘save it - come back in a week or two without the briefs and take 470+.’ 5lbs a week is 260lbs/year.

Hyde, you are a smart man!!

Wouldn't it be awesome if you could actually put 5lbs on the bar every week for a year!!!

Shut off food Thursday at 7:30. Kept it keto after training. Definitely have felt a bit better than the previous Friday, so I’m thinking I fat-adapted faster.

You going to the end of the weekend again? Knocking these out of the park!!

Probably just a 60 hour fast until Sunday morning. We have a family bday dinner then so if I want to train I’ll need to start eating very early to get hydrated enough to attempt anything remotely productive.

We all have our dreams and fantasies, don't ever let go of them !!

Oh you can take the right drugs to do it - the problem isn’t making the horsepower; it’s keeping the motor & driveline from breaking in the process!
Now I'm going to have to find a picture of a motor I splint in half tears ago !!

Well, I just ordered 54 protein bars on my Amazon subscription next month because “they were very good deals”, so you know the fast is responsible for that 🤪

Wife signed up for a contest to attempt to re-break the under 64kg/140lb class circus dumbbell world record mid-August, so diet just started for her. She has been sitting comfy at 161lbs on test prop at 2mg 3x/wk. No other PEDs for the moment, just dropping out some junk food initially, and we’ll go from there.I think she’s just looking forward to bikini season!

Awesome news, I think I remember you saying she could have had a shot at it in the last comp if she had gone on to the finals. So good she can go in and go for that soon!

Still fasting, 70 hours in.

I have bloodwork Wednesday morning, so I really needed to be training early today if I was going to so as not to impact bloodwork. But I realized I wasn’t going to be hydrated/safe in time for that, so I decided to keep fasting & focus on fat loss over training. Now is the time to finish preparing my body for the training ahead.

Family was very supportive of me fasting through the birthday party; we all had a great time together!

Workouts looking pretty grueling!!

I don’t know what the deal is, but I have been extra motivated/interested in my training lately. It has been very easy to push myself when it’s time to focus, whether strength or hypertrophy work. I am really excited to train lately.

Sounds like mentally everything is clicking. Now.way I have the will.power not to break my fast with cake and stuff

Man, I hope she’s able to get the record. That’s really cool.💪
I look forward to bikini season every year.😜

Fast has definitely been going easier since yesterday morning now that I’m keto. Been consuming 400mg mag glycinate caps nightly and drinking ~3g sodium & 6-700mg potassium from iodized salt in 100oz+ water, plus 4-5 cups of coffee/green tea, throughout the day.

Haha me too! Honestly I don’t even know what the record is currently, but I am just very glad to see her so excited for the prep. She hasn’t had to diet in a year & a half, and I think she is looking forward to that process of leaning out too - I can see in her dietary choices already she wants to do this.

America’s Strongest Woman is 2 weeks prior, so she’ll be in shape to compete as a Lightweight Pro there too if she desires (although undoubtedly that will be extra stress & risk before the record attempt, so we’ll see).

my experience is severely limited compared to Hyde and Kleen but I was telling my wife so far in my experience, the first 12-24hrs is the hardest as you're breaking routine, maybe dealing with some hunger hormone pains, etc. But once you're at that 24hr point and decided to skip a full day of meals.. for me it was more like "I've come too far to sacrifice what I've done now" and the next day was far easier.

@Dustin07 Yes, once you make it through that evening it seems to make things a little better. However, the hunger comes back aggressively a few times after 40+ hours for me. Luckily only for a short period that once you weather it you are good to go. I may push today's fast through tomorrow and let my body rest but waiting to see how these little niggles in my hip, and back shake out by morning.

It’s truly awesome both of you compete in strength competition. It makes it so much easier to understand the preparation, diet, and training it takes to compete at a high level, and besides that it’s just fun. It would be cool if she could win or place in a Strong Woman event and then break a record two weeks later.💪🏆

Man, 85 hours on your fast, impressive…..makes me hungry just thinking about it.😎

No doubt, my longest is just under 100 hours and that 4rth day was rough on me!!!!

Yeah, that’s at level where you really start getting all that clarity and it’s almost a spiritual experience.
IDK if you're joking or not but last night I was telling my wife I started feeling this way after 48hrs!! It was honestly a great experience lol

Oh know, it’s real, definitely.
In the past I had only done maybe 1 day fasts for spiritual purposes in my 20s. If I could go back in time I'd tell everyone if you're going to fast for spiritual purposes start with 48hrs. far more eye opening experience.

It's Joe Rogan... everyone should try DMT at least once! LOL, No I have never tried it.

94 hours in.

Did 1 hour & 45 min LISS on the stationary cycle earlier. Only planned 30 minutes, but I just felt great so I kept going and before I knew it took an easy PR - “1,000 calories” burned.

Nice! I think part of the reason I hit a wall on my 4 day fast was I wasn't giving myself quite enough sodium and just got dehydrated. Having some salt throughout the day really helps. I read that a lot of times when dehydrated you will feel hungry because the body is telling you that you need salt. That a hit of sodium can help. I have definitely noticed that recently during some of my fasts. I get hungry, have a little salt and then the hunger fades. I have been in the 2500-3500 range recently.

That’s exactly where I’ve been. Definitely less than a day of eating for me, but it seems to be working fine.
