Going to be a swole recovery.... with Lean Gains

If you have it I find that fluorescent lighting overhead and slightly in front of me seems to be the best for displaying the definition for me. No flash or you will fill all the lines in with light, you need the shadows to show the terrain of the musculature.

Yah she uses a flash or we would not see much cuz we don't have a lot of light and it seems to be a pretty shyte camera. The last pics were taken with her sisters camera and they were a bit better...

I'm going to give that a try. I have fluorescent lighting in a utility room downstairs and I've never taken pics there.

Yeah the flash fills the shadows in and flattens out all the contours the shadows accentuate. Even a regular overhead light will do if you stand in the right spot under it.

Yeah it looks different, try taking a few pics in a few different spots with the light above and just in front then like 6-12 inches back and until you get a few feet away from the light and then look at the pics and find your sweet spot. If you take all your pics in that area they will come out pretty good and you wont be looking at differences in lighting on your next pics. Time of day can be important too if a room has a window how much light is entering the window messing with the iris of the camera while it is trying to focus on you. Obviously never have a source of light behind you if possible.

Again the routine is full body workout with double drops..

Lat Pulldown 165 X 12 150 X 8 135 X 6 a bit challenging for the first time out
Bench press 185 X 12 165 X 8 145 X 8 this went ok
L-Lateral raise 30 X 12 25 X 11 X 20 X 11 fine
Close grip bench 165 X 8 135 X 8 105 X 8 weight was a bit too high
Obar curls 115 X 12 105 X 8 95 X 6 bit challenging massive arm pumpage with vascularity though
Front squats, was the highlight of the night... 210 X 12, nice reps 190 X 8, 170 X 8 all very good reps but sucking wind...
Stiff legged deads 205 X 10 185 X 8 165 X 10 weight was a bit too high for what I was trying to do...
Finished with some standing calf raise ...

Pace was fast and furious and it was all business....

nice workout Doug. Seems you lost some major strength since about 6 months ago, am I right on that?

Some power but not major I am starting low around 70% and working my way back up. It's a different mode of training to save my joints some pain. I mean it just doesn't seem to be necessary to be pushing all the time. Plus this is high rep workouts strict form...

I feel you i haven't done upper body in 5 weeks and starting back doing light.

I think that is probably the best approach to take. Doing great up in here DW!!

I'm totally down with that, I do more concentrating, slower, burning style lifting now, less explosive (too hard on my joints), scared of injury!

I agree with this. I got to be very careful with joints at my age and do alot more slower concentrated movements then trying to explode through them.

As I get closer to 40, I can relate to having to take the movements slower and more controlled. If not I could sideline myself for a while

Untill recently I was too focussed in on being a badazz and hoisting big weight....imagine that at over 50....time to smarten up. I've had people telling me this for years now...

Brisk workout some challenging lifts but I figure I will be able to handle increases sure enough, Monica is back and eager to make progress ..despite her long layoff she looks damn good... Lot of potential there.

Went to Mont Tremblant no pics but speaking of being lean, I went down to the hot tubs and in the next tub were about 10 fireman on a reunion in there mid thirties, I was by for the best conditioned person there at 52 so I was pretty pleased. Lean gains has made it easy for me to stay lean, I have not lost any muscle that I have noticed and down 11.5 lbs in 7 weeks since I started.. Now on this lean bulk I should go up a bit but not an once will be fat and I bet I am leaner at the end of 5 weeks. Pics are a problem for us right now I am down about 2% from my last pics though.

Yah there are several problems lighting, camera and photographer... when I do my update pics I will use my friend who is a good Photographer but it takes some organization. I will let the wife do my before pics... We just don't have a good spot to take pics...

Well looking bigger and leaner this morning, cals go up again in a couple days to 3200 on wo days... I may try to get some more pics this weekend maybe, I will try the spot where I did my last pics but with this camera don't know if they will work out. It's frustrating to have dropped the fat and not have it show up on film because of poor photography...

sucks to hear about the pics.a good pic can do wonders for ya but a bad one can really you look pretty bad quick hopefully you get the camera thing down.

Just remember Chris's advice and get under some fluorescent lighting (better shadowing).

Yes, it is ridiculously priced BUT if it does as promised, it could save you the cost, pain and health issues of a 10-12 week cycle of Test/Deca for mass gain.

I am not surprised to hear you are still losing weight. I have to pack in well over 3000 now on workout days to continue to gain instead of recomp and on my low burn days, I need to be closer to 1500-2000 or I just drop weight with lean gains. I want to pack on as much mass as I can, it is just hard finding the space in my stomach for all the food!!!!

Bar of death 13 spectacular reps!!... at this time people were commenting on how much I had improved physically. I was wearing a spaghetti strap wife beater and I was looking big and cut some of the guys I thought were pretty big who dressed this way were not as big as I am to my surprise...I have definitely gotten bigger and leaner this past week though... feels fuggin good!! I feel like going lifting again today, I have to hold myself back from doing too much... it's on!!

I certainly know all about that. This diet can put you gaining or losing easily just by moving a couple hundred cals ED. It is definetely all about finding the sweet spot. I know I'm getting close to mine with 3200/1800 going for recomp

I am up to 3200 2400 and I seem to be about recomp level gaining size and still losing fat, I am ready to go higher any day now...
 
Getting the calories up and recomping? Sounds like some solid mass gains in there.

Are you still on track for a show this year?
