Totally agree with the ladder part. College is just a way for them to take more of are money imo. Collgege is great and all, but you can definitely to much much less and achieve the same; if they had job specific training, other then just like welding, mechanics, and stuff like that.
I am basically computer illiterate...but I learned to set up and run a flexo folder/gluer that had many robotic elements. I would be willing to bet that someone who had a college degree would not even be able to start that machine with no training...so, they hire a guy will a college degree and then have to train that guy on how to operate the machine-this makes absolutely no sense to me!!!
let people come in to apply for a job, give them an aptitude test, if they have the proper aptitude for the job hire them and train them---the government should offer tax breaks for companies that do this!!!
better yet, hire people with the right aptitude and start them off at entry level and let them learn from the ground up...if they are incapable of advancing get rid of them.
