lol my fav movie all time hence my user name, I know a lot of girls who would pick Brad over Arnold, but in the 70s there was no Brad only Arnold and his pumping iron crew, Brad was like 165 in that movie, so I heard through the grape vine.
 
I ordered pumping iron off amazon for$7. Just got done watching it. Arnold was/is the complete package. There have been bigger, and stronger, but He had the right combination of it all, and not to mention intelligence. One thing they always say that muscle heads lack. Not Arnold.....
 
I just got hercules in NY from amazon, i think thats arnolds first movie after bodybuilding. The acting by everyone is horrible but arnold is at peak perfection there too.

Pumping iron is an awesome movie, i saw lou ferrigno at the arnold classic a couple years ago, hes still pretty big too.

i think alot of that has to do with his bad ass movie personality, after movies like predator and the terminators arnold probably had a pretty high panty drop rating

I used the movie fight club as an example of apocolypitic theroy, in a lit class i taught years back.
 
It's hard to find elite bodybuilders today with a stomach that is really concave inwards like most of the pro's did have in the 70's. Notice Arnold's stomach, you wont see that with todays top level bodybuilders.

These guys today are on a level that is just ridiculous. And I hope the sport advances with even freakier muscle. Bodybuilding would die if the athletes cannot keep changing as generations pass. There is no direction to go from here except into freakier and freakier territory. I'm excited to see what the sport will look like when I am in old age.

No competition. Today's bodybuilders are ridiculous and if I was granted a choice to be a top bodybuilder today magically, somehow lol... I would do it. I'm sure others here would. Imagine the size you have. All you guys talking about not looking good I think it looks good. Not many females will be attracted to it but there is always girls that do like it. I know my girl I'm with hates it, but she would still be with me without a shadow of a doubt if I looked like that.

Synthol is the only thing I will never agree with.

Awesome comparison pics. I agree thr guys today are bigger and more muscular (better roids and probably diet and just a general better understanding of the science behind it) i'd still rather have frank zane's body over ronnie's though
 
I can't even imagine how much HGH the guys today use, just look at Kevin English's belly when no flexed, looks like he is preggers with overgrown intestines

Bigger doesn't necessarily mean better, and all our greats from the 70s are the prime example.

I'd rather look like Arnold in his prime than any big freak from today.
 
I'm late to this one and didn't read thru the last 70 posts... I am not a fan of today's IFBB pros. They're science experiments not bodybuilders and I don't care how you cut it. I really wanna see what kind of health guys likejay culter an Ronnie Coleman are in down the road and how long then live.

Look at their faces... They don't look to good lol kind of s similar look of a drug addict... Lots of added years

Lets see how long these modern bodybuilders live. I bet they have a ton health problems related to steroid abuse. Being that big whether it is muscle or not is just not healthy. You can almost compare these muscle bound monsters today to an obese person. They'll like have the same problems. Think about it, a morbidly obese person and a huge 300+ pound bodybuilder have the same problems wiping their butt. Same difficultly with a flight of stairs. Same cholesterol and heart medicine.

Good Point,its one thing to do a cycle here and there,mabey a total of like 6 or 7 over your whole life,but what the bb's go through now is ridiculous,they pretty much dehydrate thereselves right before competitions to look chisseled and defined,i mean the roids(obviously),and SERMS overtime,you know there body is ****ed up.I'd like to see Ronnie Coleman 30 years from now.
 
Bodybuilders of the 70's without a doubt!! Here is the difference. These guys went on to do things, the drug world didn't rule their lives to the point they couldn't get ahead in life. Of course you have a few pro's who have things going for them, Jay Cutler and Branch Warren come to mind. But for those few pro's who have investments, businesses, and side $$, thousands of bodybuilders from amature to national level, to pro, have nothing going for them. And even if they did, they are on so much GH and bull**** all they can do is sleep and walk around like zombies. I dont think there is any way to use high levels of GH and insulin and not turn into a retard, at least I haven't met anyone yet!! The **** makes you retarded. And this crap about how you only get GH gut on high levels of GH, thats bull**** too. I've seen numerous guys who have only used 2-3 iu's/day get guts from it. Another point I'd like to make, yes many of the guys from the golden era looked smaller when they were not using gear or prepping, but guys nowadays look bad 90% of the year, except when they diet down and the gut goes down. I'd take Arnold or Mentzers look anyday over the bull**** today that has ruined bodybuilding

I want to look like Dave. He is around my height I am only a centimeter shorter at 1.82m (5' 11 3/4") and he is or was at his prime the weight I want to be lean 225 lb (102kg). I used to want to be like 6' 2" and think those really tall guys had the best look, but after seeing Dave that changed. My life will be complete if I can work my way to that level lol. gear or no gear.
