do you count carbs?

I was just wondering when some of you are counting carbs do you actually count the carbs in broccoli, or spinach, beans? I just ask because dosent the high amounts of fiber in these foods make the carbs have not so much of an impact? I am currently in a cutting cycle and I am often going over my carbs each day (60glimit each day) but the majority of my carb sources are coming from veggies, almonds, and beans.

whadayathink?

It really depends on how strict you need to be with your carbs and the amount you're consuming. Spinach , Beans and Broccoli have very little net carbs. Beans on the other hand do have higher amounts of carbs, but are phenominally healthy. Look for beans that are 2:1:1 , (Carbs, Fiber, Protein) such a dark red kidney beans of certain varieties of other beans.

if you are trying to be in keto, you do have to count them. Although I have to question how much in veggies you are eating if you manage to hit 60g :D with beans its pretty easy I guess. still a few cups full

typically 3 cups spinach for lunch along with 1 cup broc, dinner is also about 1-2 cups broc with 1/2-full cup beans (black or dark kidney)

but i would like to get to ketosis so that i am just burning fat and the fat loss is faster right now i am currently losing 1-1.5 lbs a week by hanging around 60-75 carbs, a few carbs come from cottage cheese, and almonds spaced through out the day as well.

what would it take to get to ketosis given my current weight 195lbs at 14%BF

that sounds like you might be there. when you are saying 60-75g carbs, are you leaving in the carbs from fiber? because those generally dont get counted as far as towards ketosis as they have 0 impact. cause what you had said earlier

it doesn't change the impact of net carbs, and I was thinking more about the beans (as there is still a fair amount of net carbs)

yes i am leaving in the carbs from fiber, thats good to know as i dont get much carbs from anywhere else except what i had stated earlier

I don't usually count the carbs that come from fibrous veggies. I will have as many of those as I want because in my opinion the more veggies the more benefits they provide.

I do not count carbs. I simply eat zero direct carb sources. My only carbs come from fiber in green vegtables/salad, nuts and natty PB, egg yolks, and the minimal amount in my whey protein. If you're worried about counting carbs for a ketogenic diet, the easiest thing to do is simply eat zero direct sources of carbohydrates and concentrate on filling up on fiber.

You're absolutely right. Studies have proven that fiberous carbohydrates from vegtables will help you lose weight on ANY diet because they have a negative caloric effect. (They force your body to expend energy to digest them in excess of their caloric content.)

I cook all the food I eat, I dont buy any processed food and I eat out maybe twice a month. Therefore, Im not too worried about the carbs I eat because my overall calories are within where I want and I am doing short cardio workouts in addition to my weight lifting maybe 6-8 times per week easily.
