Good deal man! Keep us in the loop with how it's going. Introducing to pets is definitely a lil nerve wracking!

Just popping in.
I used to go by bnatural.
Starting new with the LiftingDad profile after I launched my website.
Still marketing for AX, but will be posting with this profile.

I have a 3 year old son and we are on the fence about a second right now.

I had to beat our dog into submission when he attacked my daughter. 2 things never happened again. he never went hyper around her again and he never walked right again

Lucky you did that. If not maybe he would have bitten your fingers off and we wouldn't be blessed with your incredible contributions to this board.

So, what appliance becomes huuuuge when you have kids... Washer and drier!!! Annnnnd, my dryer is busted and GE charges $100.00 to walk in the door.... Lovely

Ha, especially if you have little girls that seem to change clothes 5-10 times a day. My wife does 2-3 loads almost every day.

yea, we're doing laundry about once a week for ours, only cause she has so many outfits. Shes our first so she's pretty spoiled, lol.

Bad night #1 in the books! Zero sleep, twins trading off crying for hours at a shot. So much for the gym today.... Must. Get. Sleep!!

Congratulations, they are beautiful.

Get some sleep! I remember the first few weeks getting very few workouts in, lol.

Man, those first couple of days are rough. I was so tired I had to cry over the silliest things.

But it will get better soon.(atleast it did for me)

Here's a good question!
How do you guys deal with extended family and dealing with your kids and your rules? My fam and in-laws like to break them.
Ideas???

It's just going to happen sometimes.

This. You can only build the foundation at home and then let the chips fall. Most extended family are going to respect your wishes, but you need to expect that they are going to not live by your rules.

Yeah, nip it fast when they get home or else it sticks. My sons have a grandmother who has a habit of coming to visit and starting new things and they think it's ok to continue it. Or they visit her and they come home expecting me and their mother to continue it. Luckily she is influencing one because he's 2.5 but the other is too young. I quickly change it. Some things I couldn't stop. You tell the family to STOP also.

...and that I completely agree with as well. The kids understand at this point that they may get away with more around the cousins and grandparents, but that isn't going to to happen outside of there.

Taking my little guy to jersey next week to see grandpa and step grandma, not looking forward to the flight though cause he doesn't like to sit in one place for to long

I'm going to jersey in September and it's like a 9 hour flight! I'm not looking forward to it at all!

I m beat can't wait to go back to work lol.
Full weekend with my the kids !

I hear ya, the wife was out of town from Friday morning to late sunday, just me and the kiddo! Was alot of fun, but definitely tiring with how much she's moving around now.

Here's my son's baby video I'm putting together, this is part 1.

Nice! I'll be posting up my video after our daughters 1st birthday. 365 one second video clips telling the story of her first year, been a lot of work but I can't make it through without tearing up, so it's working!

thats awesome man, videos like that are hard to do, but the payoff is great.

My wife does them for our girls. She did a baby one and a toddler one and puts it to music. I start tearing up the very second the music starts and just sit there holding back crying the whole time. And I've watched each one about 30 times.

Yea, I hear ya! I've been working on this every week since she's been born and I still tear up everytime. Especially when the second song start's kicking in (daughter in the water)

I laugh to myself all the time at how I have somehow become both the softest and yet most protective person at the same time since my girls came along. We have to let them make mistakes and learn on their own (with obvious guidance when needed) but it kills me inside sometimes.

Agreed.
Kids teach us so much.

If They are important rules I politely pull them off to one side and explain why it's important to have consistent rules and that I would appreciate if they would respect my rules. If its something minor like giving the kid a cookie, I will overlook it as long as it doesnt happen consistently.

Extended family? How extended?
If it's my parents, or my wife's parents (or my brother or sister, etc). I explain what we do in major scenario's.

i.e.
-don't spank my child, EVER.
-discipline but don't destroy (get your point across, don't just yell because you are angry)
-he eats food, not snacks (veggies are fine, but if you get my son addicted to twinkies, you will never get to be alone with him again).
-timeouts are fine (1 minute per year, and an extra minute if he talks during the timeout)
-ask us, not him (if "he wants to" do something, ask us before you tell him to make sure it's ok. it's evil to do it with the child around because no parent wants to be the bad or harsh parent).

the conversation is about 5 minutes. the final word is that if he comes back a terror, it's going to be hard to let him stay often. It sounds harsh, but it's your child.

All good stuff right there. On the flip side, our girls know that they need to show respect the same they would for us no matter where they go. Special things like sleep overs or treats with the grandparents are earned and not automatic.

I'll be running this seven mile road race on Saturday, wish me luck! Excited for when my daughter is a bit older as they have a jr. version of it with tons of kids, hoping she sees here mom and dad being active and follows suit! If her rate of crawling and shuffling around on tables is any indication, she most def. will be.

Kids will do what they see man, so I'm sure she will follow in your footsteps! Good luck in the race, you can have that running stuff!!! Not for this guy! (Although I do like the obstacle courses in the mud!).

Yea, I usually just do the mud runs as well (Warrior dash etc..) But this year is the 40th anniversary of this race and I've never done it so figured why not. There will be plenty of walking, lol.

Powerlifting meet next Saturday. First ever. My son gets to come watch. He went to my physique competition but was far from the stage so he lost interest. He's been coming to the gym with me recently so he should be as amped as I am.

7 miles...yikes. Good luck man! My ten year old daughter made the Premiere Soccer club, and besides practice three days a week she's supposed to jog a few days a week to get her cardio up. I've never been a runner, but it is way more enjoyable having someone to run with. I ran a mile with her twice this week and it's been great.
