I know that the Bible says "do not drink unto drunken-ness" or to that extent in a different wording, so I've always assumed that it condones drinking just not in excess. In fact I know it condones drinking, as I have taken communion as a child, in which the church gave me wine. Would a doctor really want advice on trichinosis or blood letting? Would you navigate the seas of this earth with a map of a flat earth? Would you really believe in a virgin birth without some kind of DNA test? The idea that history and faith trumps physics and science is when I start having to draw the line. Athiest countries bring the worst wars. I dont care what you say. Look at Stalin and Hitler...I I am not 100% sure about their religious views, but I know BOTH of them persecuted the church. Look what their nations did. Nazi Germany, and socialist Russia(I dont call it communism because it wasnt communism, it was his version of it). Nor was the Japanese christian, or jewish, or muslim. They are the most spiritually dead people out there(next to china)

They used the churches, yeah. But they themselves were not religious men, and their designs were not of religious ends.....plus they turned on the churches, who technically only followed them so they wouldnt be executed.

I know alot about hitlers background, But I never read of Stalins religious views. Now I am interested. Research time:wave2:

I havent seen that movie yet. Dont know if I want to, looks corny. I prefer books to historical movies cuz something is always lost or skewed in the translation.

I'm not sure about Stalin but wasn't Hitler christian? He certainly wasn't an atheist. Frankly, what people say they are and what they actually are, especially in regard to atheism, can be two different things.

I think to have no belief in anything is impossible, as you have to have belief in someone or something even if it is just yourself; Someone whom to look up to aswell as fear.

What really grinds my gears are people who argue a single point of view as absolute and who are not open to concepts outside what they have been taught. That goes for science nuts aswell who think that as science can explain a great deal they can discount other possibilities because they think they'll figure it out and not because they actually know.

They say that we were made in Gods image. Who is to say that it isn't the other way around and that in our image we are all gods with the ability to create the world around us? Now, time to hit the chemistry books...

Hitler originally claimed such things, but he eventually decided the churches would get in his way and was going to remove them as well. Some of the greatest evils will wear the veil of purity. Hitler, definitely could not have had a Christian perspective.

A politician will claim whatever lies work for him. I mean obama claims to be Christian, but he wont even recite the pledge of allegiance...and hasnt been to "church" since he got into office, not that his church before wasnt ran by a wacked out nut job. when a countries president wont even honor the country, were fked.

I also hear you on the other part. atheism is in itself a faith, and a belief. It is a faith and belief in no God. But none the less a faith.

The only beliefs I really have issues with are wickens, satanists, witchcraft, the occult, freemasons, and cults(which to me is also mormons and jehovas witness)

Comically, you said the same thing about drug use. I'm in the middle, I don't particularly think either one really shows you anything you are incapable of learning without. At the same time, the precepts of living a christian life make for a happier existence for everyone and you can live that way with or without the religious aspect itself. "Thou shall not steal", etc all make sense regardless of who wrote them. Can't quite say much of the same out of anything that has come out of drug use, other than maybe some music
