Creatine cycling?

Hello, first post here so nice to see a good forum! My question regards creatine usage, I did search but didn't find anything related to what I'm wondering. I'm sorry if I missed it. With creatine, the newer forms anyways such as HCI, do you still need to cycle on and off to see benefits regularly? I'm taking con-cret post workout in my protein shakes, and c4 extreme pre workout which also has creatine nitrate. I'm just a bit confused, because 10 years ago when I started working out I was on monohydrate and I remember cycling that.

There is no need to cycle creatine

^^^This. As I answered in Invalid Link Removed: "Creatine cycling is a personal preference option. Many individuals cycle creatine, using for 2-3 months before taking a month or so off. Others do not cycle it and use it all the time - I am one of those people, and the only time I have off creatine is if I have run out of my creatine/product containing creatine and are waiting on another. If you are considering creatine cycling, be aware that your muscle creatine threshold levels return to baseline after three weeks of ceasing creatine usage."

only reason i do it is to give my kidneys a break.

There is absolutely no evidence that creatine supplementation has any sort of adverse effects on renal function.

there is when you take mono for 2 months and piss out blood, then stop it for 4 weeks and your fine....

you may say its a coincidence, but it happened to three of my friends at the gym as well as my uncle.

but yes, i have not seen any real scientific evidence on it. i know from experience, when i dont drink enough water, i get pain in my kidneys. i just know a few people who have had issues while taking creatine (mono) to not take a break from it once in a while. to each his own.

You possibly may have pre-existing renal conditions because as you can see below there were no adverse effects when it was used over the course of 9 weeks. Have you ever got a renal function test done via blood work? I would suggest getting one if you were pissing blood.

Dietary creatine supplementation does not affect some haematological indices, or indices of muscle damage and hepatic and renal function

Background The use of creatine (Cr) as a nutritional supplement to aid athletic performance has gained widespread popularity among athletes. However, concerns have recently been expressed over potentially harmful effects of short and long term Cr supplementation on health.
Methods Forty eight young healthy subjects were randomly allocated to three experimental protocols aimed at elucidating any potential health risks associated with five days (20 g/day) to nine weeks (3 g/day) of Cr supplementation. Venous blood samples were collected before and after periods of Cr supplementation and were analysed for some haematological indices, and for indices of hepatic, muscular, and renal dysfunction.
Findings All measured indices were well within their respective normal range at all times. Serum creatinine concentration tended to be increased the day after Cr supplementation. However, values had returned to baseline six weeks after the cessation of supplementation. These increases were probably attributable to increased creatinine production rather than renal dysfunction. No indication of impairment to the haematological indices measured, hepatic function, or muscle damage was apparent after Cr supplementation.
Interpretation These data provide evidence that there are no obvious adverse effects of acute or more chronic Cr supplementation on the haematological indices measured, nor on hepatic, muscle, and renal function. Therefore there is no apparent health risk associated with Cr supplementation to healthy people when it is ingested in quantities that have been scientifically proven to increase muscle Cr stores.

i havent had any issues except pain in my kidney region when i stay on mono for too long. its people i know that have. and when i had the pain, i got blood done and urine samples to cover everything, and everything was fine. i also had to have a crap load of blood work done on so many different things before entering the nursing program. when i got off of mono, no pain in CVA. its only with mono that i have this pain though.

That's crazy that you pissed blood man. I've been on creatine mono at 5g a day since ive started taking supps three years ago and have never had any issues.
