That makes as much sense as comparing Robert Marve to Tim Tebow and saying Marve's better because of his stats four games into the season.

Green gets a lot more playing time, for one thing. Jones was the #1 ranked WR out of high school, and there's no argument that Julio is a lot more physical than Green. They're the same height but Jones is built like T.O., and his spring game performance was all over YouTube before the season even began. I feel very comfortable with my initial statement.

After yesterday's practice, Richt gave a press statement in a black hat, black shirt, black shorts....when asked about it he said with a sly grin..."I'm going to a funeral"

The OL has been improving each week. Besides, it always holds long enough for the playmakers to do their thing. That's all that really matters.

As for the DL, it is part of an overall defense that is the third ranked rushing defense at 45 ypg.

I ain't terribly worried.

Still think this will be as wild as '07 - if not more.

Example - Corvallis is currently being burned to the ground after the monumental upset of Southern Cal.

(Man - how I'd love to be in the middle of the mosh pit now. Awesome scene.)

What else do you have to evaluate - apart from Crimson, Rammer Jammer Yella Hammer glasses to evaluate?

High school?? Some Commie spring game??

Now - I don't know minute wise if Green has played more. But he and Julio are both statistically their leading receivers.
I think that's near apples to apples.

I feel comfortable in saying Green is better now. I don't give 2 sh*ts who Julio looks like - I no homo. He might have better upside. That wasn't what I was saying though.


In the end - I have no idea what I'm arguing. I'm just typing. Both are very high quality frosh WR's. 2 of the best in the country. I could care less who's better.

:yawn:looks like just about any big college football stadium you watch a game at. i didn't see many chicks. maybe one that was pasty white. one trip to an fsu game and you'd be tripping over your tounge:jaw::thumbsup:.
 
What a game last night. I was elated to see USC fall.

I'll be the first to say I HATE the new clock rules. Here is a quick bit from Brady Ackerman (ESPN Radio out of Orlando) on the lost time from last nights game :
I know people may be tiring of the new clock rules and some may not truly understand what is going on with the Clock. I just thought I would give a simple example from last night's USC Oregon State game. By the way Oregon State deserved to win.

--There were 19 incomplete passess in the game(1 was an interception by Oregon State)

In the past the clock stopped after an incomplete pass. With the new 40-25 rule the clock can start before the next snap. There was 5 minutes and 42 seconds of elapsed time after 18 incomplete passes last night. That's time that would have been in the game last year! This does not include the times the clock started after guys were run out of bounds. This to me is unfair to the fans, to the favorite teams and needs to be changed. We saw 55 minutes of football at best on thursday night.


We probably lost more like 8 minutes of game time if you count when guys run out of bounds. But I will bet you Espn ran the same amount of commercials during last nights game that they did one year ago.

Damn.
Congrats to the Heels. Fought back and won 28-24.

We got it down to their 20 with 10 secs. left and took a shot at the end zone. Our WR had the ball in his hands, and bobbled it a bit and their safety made a great play to yank it out for the closing INT.

Tough loss. But I figured we'd have up's and down's with this team this year. I'm still optimistic they can be a major player in the ACC race.

In the end, we got pretty well blown out by UNC last year - 28-0 at the half. So this was better. Still not there yet though.
 
penn state to host illinois tonite..8pm. penn states big 10 opener will be a test on how good the lions really are. i guess oregon state wasnt really a test...hahahaha.
 
Wow - Michigan has scored 13 points in about 1 min or 2 to take the lead on Wisky.

Looks like the ghosts at the big House haven't ended quite yet for the Badgah's.

penn state routes illinois 38-24. close game for 3 qts. that should give psu a boost into the top 10. (im guessin 6-7ish) after the FLORIDA...GEORGIAand wisconsin loss.:nutkick:

1. A dominant running game that eats up the clock... and features more than one back

2. A defense that simply eliminates the run and has the opponent's QB running for his life

3. A team that knows heart > "talent"

Caught most of the Miami-UNC game today. It was a great game. Looks like FSU rebounded nicely against a favored Colorado team (don't know the details though). Next week might just be a battle! I'm not gonna try to pick that one, but I'm looking forward to it.

Btw, #3 does not refer to Georgia. They showed a lot of heart by clawing their way back into the game in the 2nd half when they could've just given up. Richt showed a lot of humility after the game. Great coach.

However, I am absolutely referring to a team from Gainesville whose coach is crying over some alleged infraction on a blocked extra point... when all of their "talent" and "weapons" couldn't get them ONE YARD when it counted. Someone tell Urban that it's okay to admit the other guy was better... and that his O-line is atrocious.

Actually, they lost to better SEC teams... so your implied point is kinda moot. Cough...cough...Wisconsin. The Big Ten is so feeble that the Northwestern-Michigan St. game next week may be for the conference title!

Btw, that kid from Penn State (Williams?) looked great from what I saw from the highlights.
 
Bama's #2 in the AP poll. Funny thing though... couldn't find the talented Gators anywhere in the top 10 of either poll!:toofunny:

Here's what I think the rankings should look like at this point:

1. LSU (Still the champs until proven otherwise)
2. Alabama (Who has done more so far?)
3. Oklahoma (Look solid, but absolutely untested)
4. Missouri (Chase Daniel will win the Heisman)
5. Texas (See Oklahoma comments)
6. Penn State (Definite contender from a sad conference)
7. South Florida (Can't knock 'em)
8. Georgia (They drank the Kool-Aid, but were more themselves in the 2nd half of the funeral)
9. Auburn (They are ugly, but always seem to find a way to win)
10. Vanderbilt (Hey, they beat Ole Miss!)

Well I gotta' say- 'Bama brought it. UGA simply was not prepared for that.

Well done to the Tide. They are definitely for real.

In fact, they should clearly be #1 IMO. They've had a tougher schedule than OU.

It would be nice to see a rematch in the SEC Championship Game. However, both Bama and UGA have brutal schedules ahead, and LSU is still the team to beat in the West. I'll be ecstatic with a 2-loss season and a win over Auburn. Next 2 years though, look out!

I don't particularly "like" most other teams in the SEC, and there are some I detest. However, I've always pulled for Georgia. They come off as a classy program, from the days of Vince Dooley up to now. Richt is a helluva coach, and he takes the few losses he experiences in stride. Even when they broke Bama's heart in OT last year, I still pulled for them the rest of the way. Most Georgia fans I've known have been pretty hardcore, but mostly respectful of tradition (theirs and others) and realistic in their expectations.

I hope they go undefeated the rest of the way, and not just because the Tide handed it to them yesterday. If they do meet again this season, it will probably be the close game everyone expected.

Go Dawgs. Roll Tide.
 
Yeah, I'm pretty much completely with you. I've always liked 'Bama in the same way you like UGA. 'Bama and UGA have much more of a friendly rivalry than other SEC teams, like UGA-Florida, 'Bama-Auburn, etc.

In fact, within conference play, 'Bama is the only other SEC team that I truly root for.

So yeah, Go Dawgs and Roll Tide! Let's hopefully do it again in Atlanta.

IMO...oklahoma should be #1..all around good team. As for penn state..weak conf. maybe. but could compete and poss. beat anyone in the top 5. BTW..derrick williams is whom you reffered to. An all purpose stud.

See, I think if the first poll of the season came out today, Oklahoma would not be #1. And if that's the case... well, then they shouldn't be. LSU is the reigning champ, so I think they are more deserving of the top spot until they lose a game.

The thing with Penn State is that we won't truly know how good they are unless they meet a powerhouse SEC or Big 12 team at season's end. Don't get me wrong, I think PSU is solid. But, it was a 7-point game in the 4th quarter yesterday against an Illinois team with a HORRENDOUS defense.

FYI...rubbering..oklahoma is #1 as of today. and illinois had more time of possesion than penn state..hence, penn states offense wasnt on the field as much or the score would've been higher. BTW, illinois offense i thought, was outstanding. having a QB like juice and running the option is a deffensive coordinaters nightmare. not to mention the outstanding wide out that illinois has. all in all penn state did what they had to do to win. they have 2 straight road games coming up,,perdue and wisconsin..that will be a test.
 
Bama looked scary, but I feel better about Florida and Georgia now.

However, I'm glad the tigers get a by-week before going to the swamp.

REALLY??? Geez plenny... who's fault was that??! That's like saying, "Yeah, we would have beat them by a larger margin if they hadn't scored so many points and kept our offense from scoring more!!!" :rofl: Isn't that kind of the point?!
