trauma, come on. you know they are not the same team as last year. not even close. Tenn. sucks and you are acting like its a big deal. they fukkin suck. we'll see soon though. don't come back with fsu bullsh!t b/c i know. i think you like the smell of tebow's a-hole:icon_lol:

Agree. The Vols aren't the same as last year. Not having Ainge has clearly hurt them big time. As has Jerod Mayo on D.

Actually..... You're right. When and if UF runs the table, we'll have yet another convo. I'm willing to bet that UF is in the championship game, and bama isn't. Call it "speculation", but i don't see bama winning the west, sorry. ;) Arkansas looked like a highschool mentality team overall. So congrats on your "BIG" win.

I didn't say it was a "BIG" win. I said they totally dominated an inferior team. Have the Gators had a "BIG" win? I just don't see how you can make comparisons when the two teams haven't played quality opponents yet. Make the comparison after the Arkansas-UF game.

I do think it's interesting that you never want to converse about the areas where UF is lacking. If they can't pass against someone like Georgia or LSU, they certainly don't have much of a run game. Their O-line is not what is was last year... which is why Tebow's numbers have slipped dramatically.

Florida can have all the talent in the world... but if they don't get busy utilizing it, someone's going to expose them. This is not 2006.

True.
But I think it speaks more to your defense, pretty damn athletic. Wake has never been able to compete with the speed of FSU and UM. They just bide their time on us and play well enough to win (typically).

Then again - it also speaks to how mediocre the ACC is at this point.
Although NC State did upset ECU, which surprised the hell out of me.
And GaTech beat the living hell out of MissState, who barely lost to Auburn, who looked pretty good tonight against LSU.

Just went through all that rigmarole to show how wacky I think this season will continue to be.

defense was good, but i thought there were a few times we could have got burned (if not more). we seemed to blitz like hell and if they got a pass off, we were screwed

I think our QB can somewhat take advantage of all the blitzing you guys did. He has more talent than Riley Skinner, but not the experience.

We'll see though.
I look forward to the Oct. 4th game. Should be a good 'un.

i'm with you... i thought we were pretty predictable. i don't even think they tried to change up the count. see you on the 4th.. you around here?

All I ever hear from Gator fans is the word "talent." I heard it every year in the 90's when Spurrier was there. All that talent netted ONE championship, and ZERO undefeated seasons. The Dallas Cowboys had the most "talent" in the NFL last year... didn't win them a playoff game. The Gators team from 2006 was multi-dimensional on offense. The 2008 edition doesn't seem to be. But oh, I know... they have all that... "talent."

Here's the reality of it: If Florida had to play Alabama, Tide fans would be excited. Gator fans would be extremely nervous (just too cocky to admit it). And btw... how the hell did Florida get out of playing BOTH Auburn and Alabama this year? LSU, Georgia, and Alabama all have tougher schedules than Florida!

And don't get mad... but in 2008, Chase Daniel > Tim Tebow.

Okay, I'm done discussing Flori-duh until they show me a running game.

I'm REALLY impressed with LSU's defense and coaching.

The Big 12 as a whole has the best quad of QB's in Daniel, Harrell, Bradford, and McCoy. Hell even Reesing is pretty good.

On another note - I'm eating 75 grams of protein via turkey meatloaf, worked out chest earlier, and my Canes won big. All is well.
Except for Lou Holtz spitting all over my TV on College Gameday Final...

jmh80, I have to say *gulp* I'm starting to think Miami will turn it around this season. When they fell behind early today, they could have psyched themselves out. Instead, they really pounded A&M.

I'm taking a wait and see approach, honestly. We beat the living sh*t out of the Aggs at our house last year and look how we finished.

This team has a different mentality, clearly, and a top notch QB though. So I'm very much optimistic. We play the Heels at Dolphin Stadium this week. They've given us fits the last 3 or 4 years, beating us more often than not.
We'll see if the myraid of kids can stay focused on them after the big win and the Noles looming the week after. This could be a trap game for us.

I'm pretty damn sure in 2 years we'll be a staple in the top 10 nationally. I'm just not sure how up and down this team will be week to week with Shannon still learning the head coaching positions and all the inexperience (and lack of depth at some positions).

Holtz is now talking about Bama - I'm gonna load up on peanut butter to handle all this. LOL.

Yeah, I caught some of the spit as well! I actually hate it when ESPN starts tooting Bama's horn. Never bodes well. It was better when they were still hating on Saban. I guess playing Petrino made Nick look like a saint!

You know, I'm starting to think Paul Johnson's offense just might work in the ACC eventually. I didn't expect Georgia Tech to have any success this year. They're probably going to a bowl game.

I'm sure it will. He needs someone that can pass to go to something like the ACC championship. They'll knock teams off with a kid like Nesbitt.

They worry me - we play them on Thurs night in ATL the week before Thanksgiving. (I'ma go to the game.) I think they'll def. be rounded into shape by then.
That Dwyer kid is a good RB.

Yeah, imagine when Johnson has time to recruit some more bruising running backs and O-lineman to go with 'em. I agree that he'll have to pass more in the ACC than he did at Navy to have success.

Just watched the end of the Fresno St. - Toledo game. Holy cow! Fresno won 55-54 in 2OT. They're always entertaining to watch.

Today was a rough day for me. First, i had to work a 12 hour shift very hungover with multiple trauma's (just to add insult to injury.) Then, i get home and my xbox 360 sh*ts the bed. I can't play college football 2008 now. :(

To elaborate on some of the convo's last night.......I agree that florida's offensive line hasn't looked impressive thusfar. The offense just hasn't clicked yet either as well. I really wasn't impressed with the play calling on offense yesterday. It just seems that they're not utilizing their speed in a spread offense like they should. The defense and special teams looks damn good though. Brandon James is one hell of a return man.

I do have some good news. I was able to get tickets the the UK vs. UF game, so i'll be heading up to gainesville baby!

I watched most of the LSU vs. Auburn game yesterday. A hell of a game it was. LSU made some nice adjustments in the second half and played well.

I can agree to that, however UF actually beat them even worse last year. Jarod Mayo was one hell of a LB.

Yeah, they do suck......but so does FSU! :D

I look forward to our game later this year.

Wow, that is a rough day... and you didn't even mention the New England game!

((((Sigh)))) What I would do to get to see an SEC game again. It's been about 17 years. I went to a UCLA-Bama game in Pasadena a few years back and witnessed the Tide get their butts kicked, but that's the last time I saw an SEC team play (if you can call it that) in person.

Alright... I'll root for the Gators during that game 'cause I know you'll be there. I'm jealous!

That's funny. I went to nearly every UT game while I was in school and you haven't seen an SEC game since I was 11.
And I'm not even an SEC fan.

Yeah, seen a lot of Pac-10 games since I moved to N. California in '93. I have Cal season tickets, and I'll go to a Stanford game if they're playing someone worth seeing. With the way the Raiders and 49ers have played the last several years... Bay Area football is a pretty sad state of affairs. Maybe I'll start driving to the valley to see Fresno State. Those WAC games are... well... wack! :p

What a weekend of games. As far as Florida beating Tennessee...

Going into Knox in a stadium full of 105,000 fans is no small feat. We got off to a fast start, our special teams played superb, we made no mistakes, and we were +3 in turnover margin (+9 on the year). I was very pleased with Moody and what he did carrying the ball. I think he's going to be a big contributor in games to come.

On to Alabama....wow! They looked tough. You (Rubbering) should feel very good about your chances vs. UGA. Last year's game was a toss-up. This year Bama is much improved and UGA is out of shape mentally and maybe a little physically, compared to last year, and I certainly don't see them as improved over last year. Their struggle to beat horrible SC - needing 2 SC turnovers inside the 4 yard line in the last 6 minutes of the game to hang on pretty much sums them up. They have yet to play anyone who doesn't completely suck, and Bama is going to bring the house at them and hit them like they haven't been close to hit this year. I would be very surprised if UGA won this game.

And Trauma...I'm at every home game so hit me up before you go to the UK/UF game. I'll let you know where we're tailgaiting so you should stop by.

My main concern is Bama's fragile mindset. FIVE coaches in the last decade (if you count Mike Price), and the last two seasons started with early wins before it all went down the tank. I know they're much improved this year, and I think having young studs like Mark Ingram (RB) and Julio Jones (best freshman WR in the country) is a blessing with respect to recent memories. Clemson got shellshocked by the Tide... and unfortunately for Bama, they're not going to surprise Georgia. Georgia will be ready, and they'll be at home. Alabama is still a year away from doing some serious damage. That being said, if they're MENTALLY prepared for the Bulldogs, I like their chances. IF Bama can get past UGA, and IF they can pull a miracle against LSU later in the year... we just might have our Bama-Florida matchup in the SEC Championship... but that's a couple of b-i-g IFs.

Will do brother. I'm not sure of the specifics yet, but i'll keep you updated. :) It should be a good game.

Uh-oh... this might not bode well for my team. It looks like it's gonna be a "blackout" game for Georgia this weekend. Well, I guess this verifies that they're not taking Bama lightly!

As an avid UGA fan, I must say this weekend's game may just be the toughest test of the season for GA. (and that's no knock against UF) All those young talented players with Saban coaching...tough to game plan against. I'm not into trash talking but hopefully GA's mix of their own young talent as well as talented veterans will get them over this one. I know last year's game was a good one.

looks like this thread needs to be re-titled. how about "SEC only..post here" or Florida,Bama, Georgia fans thread" or Anti-Big 10 season"...what do you all think?:icon_lol:

OUCH!!:smite:

plenny, you crack me up! Hey, I posted a few times about my respect for Joe Pa, and about Penn State's potential this year. Who knows? Maybe you'll be the one laughing last in January... only because you find something inherently funny about an SEC team being represented in every BCS game.

Looking forward to the Wisconsin-Penn State game in a few weeks. (I'll check it out between watching the Florida-LSU highlights and reading Saban's newsletter.)

I'm still mad at Joe Pa for my Noles missing several field goals in a game against them a couple of years ago. Boo sir, booo!!!

This is the year of the Dawg, gentlemen.

I like 'Bama ok, but the trifecta of Stafford (with the best gun in the country), Moreno (one of the best backs in the country), and Green (one of the best receivers in the country) is going to be absolutely brutal to deal with.

Now that Green is the go-to receiver, the running lanes are wide open for Moreno. And you thought he was dangerous before.

And of course, it works the other way, as well. With Moreno in the backfield, the passing lanes are opened up for Green.

The most dangerous trifecta in the country.

that was the year after i graduated and i was watching that game in charlotte, NC. i was the only seminole fan at the bar and was going back and forth with a table full of penn state guys. i knew the bartender and she kept shots of jager coming. before i knew it, i could barely see, fsu had lost, and a guy from thier table came up to me busting my balls some more. i guess i went after him, my buddies grabbed me, so i gave it a minute and then went after their whole table. bouncers got me out of there after that.......for my own safety:fool2:

Don't forget about Massoquoi (sp?) on the other side of Green, double team Green and that leaves him one on one. Dawgs also have a decent tight end in Chandler who is usually very sure handed, although he had a few crucial drops against SC. Even Stafford has pulled off a few decent runs this year when everything has broken down.

If the team can fire on all cylinders (which I don't think they've done yet this year) they can be very explosive.

Florida most definitely hasn't clicked on all cylinders on offense as of yet, when they do, look out......:) Percy Harvin is as dynamic as anyone in college football. When they finally get in a groove, it should be fun to watch the offense roll again.

The florida vs. georgia game will probably decide the sec east team that will play in the SEC championship game. That is if bama doesn't knock them out early. :p And who knows from there. It should be interesting.

i am really looking forward to the UGA-BAMA game...if it disappoints ima be real sad :(

Bama's doing fine this year so far with me watching the games on delay. So... I'll be at the Cal game rooting for the Bears, and keeping an eye on the scoreboard for updates. I have a custom T-shirt that's half crimson, half blue. It has "Cal - abama" printed on the front!

Wish i could go to the cal game! Or any SEC game in general. Not too many options for good games to watch around me although JMU did beat App State :D

penn state fans...especially in a group in a bar is one nasty combination. lol.:hammer:

Don't agree. Thus far it's been AJ Green. See the stats. More catches, way more yards and y/catch, but one less TD.

NAME REC YDS YPR LONG TD
Julio Jones 11 132 12.0 36 3
AJ Green 16 300 18.8 39 2

Very impressed with the skill positions on offense thus far. Not impressed with the OL.

Not impressed with the DL either.

I suspect in the trenches will be the Dawgs undoing. (That and that habit of dropping a game they really should win - see UT last year...)
