Building Back Up

Haven’t gained or lost anything the past few weeks, but possibly decompositioned. Unsure yet. Felt a little weaker in the gym yesterday but could just be exhausted from the work the past 3 weeks.

LOL, this made me laugh. Think you made up a new word, opposite of recomp though so it makes sense!!

I can also fit into 2 of my 3 pairs of 35/30 jeans!

Edit: carb depleted that is. My goal is eventually to fit in 34/30’s when bloated.

This past weekend I had stadium food + a couple beers, then birthday meals Sat/Sun and I feel like there is a strong possibility you and I could both cross 200lbs soon going in opposite directions 😂

hanging in there. had a for fun heavy session this weekend with my boy and hit squats and bench at about 95% of my PR's without actually running a strength cycle or prepping for it so I feel like things are doing pretty well while I chill on cruise control a bit.

Weight went back up to 210 after the weekend, but looks like I’m back on track to hit a new low by the end of the week anyway.
 
208.0 today even though calories were just under maintenance yesterday (3100). But, 35/30 jeans feel even better this week than last week. Might still hit a new low tomorrow though.

Time to cut! Wife will be traveling a lot over the next several months, which is when I do my best dieting. Also going to increase volume this time around with my cut and shoot for 10-15 direct sets per body part with 2800 kcal daily for a few weeks to start, maybe occasionally 3k. No cheats and >8k steps per day. First goal is losing 20 pounds.
Well, on a positive note…feels good to see this weight even though my strength is shot.

207.8 today.

If I can get to 203, that’s a 10 year low.

What’s working is 4 workouts per week, 20-30 minute incline walks after workouts, ~2800 kcal 5-6 days per week, one large cheat meal (maybe an additional larger meal in the weekend also), 10k steps per day on average (includes most of the incline walking), and 1 hour long mountain bike ride per week on excess calorie day. Lifts aren’t hurting too bad.

I love that your cut is going so well and carb heavy. I know when fats are low cravings get strong for me (butter, avocado, ranch, etc) but keeping carbs up really helps my energy and mental state so much.

Well, my fat isn’t really that low. 3.5 eggs with breakfast with a little butter definitely helps. I don’t know how @MrKleen73 was at 30g per day for a while?

Yeah, that was a lot of fun... NOT!!! Haha, showing my age there with that one.

Honestly, for whatever reason limiting fats doesn't seem to have a big mental effect on me.
after two servings of moms chili last night I may as well be at 206 now too 😂
Some things are worth it, and home made chili is in that group!

Overdid it this weekend. It’ll probably be hard to hit a new low by Friday, because Friday is Halloween…always a great cheat day.

So close to a new low, but quite sure I looked leaner at this weight compared to last week.

Test cyp dose still ~8mg daily (but every 3-4th day drop to 7mg). Reason being, just that one day lets me feel a little calmed down and I get a better night sleep.

When I get this low on kcal/glycogen depleted/whatever, the frequency drops quite a bit, so I can’t go until after I eat 😂

But yes, could possibly be lower than I was!

One year ago, maybe 2, my post weekend bloat put me at 239 at my highest, so definitely better. Lots of activity/workouts over the weekend though also.

Resuming cut today until next planned cheat in 2 weeks.

Yessir. Not giving up, but mid November to January is going to be difficult. I will be pleased to come out the other side around the same weight.

Why should it be difficult? Holidays are one day each. Maybe a few meals each assuming you go to an handful of affairs. You don’t have to gorge yourself at every one. All the seasonal holiday trash food is not quality nutrition, same as all the other holiday seasons through the year - it being December doesn’t mean you have to live on cookies and hot chocolate.

I have lost weight through the holidays successfully a couple times, never missing a family meal and eating the same foods as everyone else together. And I’ve known a guy who uses the entire season as an excuse to suddenly live off deer sausage, cheese and crackers; the guy trades his hard-earned abs for adult Lunchables and has to re-lose the same 20lbs of fat every Spring, never making physique progress.

There will always be excuses year round if you let them in, or you can always find a way to reach your goals while still incorporating family meals first. Be careful which mindset you choose!

When we travel, balancing it all becomes extra difficult, especially if I want to be and feel normal around family. I can deal with feeling like absolute garbage at home when I’m not around annoying family. Memory loss, irritability, fatigue, etc don’t pair well with the in-laws.

I get that it’s tougher, and there must be some concessions. Just don’t self-sabotage yourself by predetermining you’re set up to fail. This is not an all or nothing thing, where you must feel incredible or terrible, or that you are either shredding rapidly or totally eating like an asshole. Seek that balance you discussed & hold yourself accountable.

Might hit a new lower faster than I thought.

I’ve been experimenting with hitting some muscles 3 times per week. My recovery is vastly improved (unsure why but I’ll take it).

Monday: Standing OHP, pull-ups, machine chest press, leg press, db upright row, db lateral raise, pressdowns

Wednesday: Deadlift, Incline Hammer Press, pull-up, DB row, high-to-low supinated reverse fly, cable shrugs, curls

Friday: Flat DB Press, machine OHP, DB upright row, lateral raise, Skullcrushers

Saturday: squats, leg curls, bb rows, pull-ups, shrugs, curls

Chest, legs, delts, and back hitting 3 times per week.

Actually, I’m unsure what’s working so well, since my kcal have floated between 2800 up to 3300 this week, with 2 big cheats last weekend. My workouts are basically the same and the cardio isn’t any different and total steps the same.

I have been committed to 8mg test cyp daily (except on 4th day drop to 6-7mg). I can feel it too, so perhaps that’s making a difference. I do the drop dose because it feels a bit too strong after a few days.

Another new low. W00t. So 2 large cheat meals in a weekend lets me Lose half a pound per week. I’m not gonna figure it out now, but my 2800 kcal days must really be a significant deficit.

3200 kcal yesterday with upper push and 25 minute incline walk (easier than usual), still lighter and slept like garbage.

At least I got 85’s for 4 sets of 5 on flat press. Strength improving a little.
