Blood Pressure & Prohoromones

Dr. D, I noticed that you mentioned that clonidine had bodybuilding benefits. What exactly are they, since I may need to get on an rx blood pressure med.

It causes an acute rise in GH levels. It is apparent from the increased scaring if you injure yourself. Wounds heal fast, bur scar tissue is dramatic with clonidine use. Fat loss is noticeable in a wk or two also. The rise is transient, so it should be cycled 2-4wks on followed by 1-2wks off. It's an excellent choice for body builders because its effects on blood pressure are not evident during activity. You can workout and it doesn't slow you down. In other words, the body's response to exercise is not modified.

Well guys the bp is still high. I went back to the doc yesterday and he gave me some Altace to try out. The benicar wasn't doing much. I had the bp taken this afternoon and it was 120/84. Much better than yesterday's 150/110.

You do know that most BP meds are just ways to prevent your body from eliminating potassium?

Upping potassium intake is often - almost always - a extremely effective BP medication.

You can buy potassium salt, aka, sodium-free salt, aka potassium chloride and put that on your food or put it in empty caps and swallow those, up to 5000mg a day *IF* you are *NOT* taking BP meds.

Be CAREFUL with this stuff if you will try it while on the BP meds as they will magnify the potassium's effect.

Bananas are rich in potassium.

Seriously, potassium is the main key to BP. I'm surprised I haven't seen it mentioned, but I haven't read ALL the 154 posts so if this has been tried, please ignore my comment.

Wookie how much weight have you gained since you've been lifting? Have you kept up with your cardio vascular training? That can make a big difference right there.

You might just have genetic hypertension, some supplements Ive taken that have had a definite improvement on BP are:

C12 (TwinLab BP Control)
PowerFULL (consistent drop in BP while on)
Celery Seed Extract
Potassium (as mentioned above)

There are a host of others as well...180/88 is pretty high though. You're doing the right thing by talking to your doc.

I think the 180/88 was a mistype. My grandmother, my aunt, her daughter, my mom all have high bp. My dad lucked out and didn't get it. I used to weigh 135lbs when I was 20. Now I'm 26 and I weigh in at 217lbs. I really haven't been doing any cardio, but I know I need to start back up. I was just afraid of losing mass, but my bp is a little more important than a couple of pounds of mass.

Dont worry about that bro, the only mass you'll loose from cardio training is the kind you dont want-fat. All that 'cardio is catabolic' nonsense is just that - nonsense.

TOO MUCH cardio surely is catabolic 20 - 30 minutes 2-3 days a week and you'll feel a ton better.

Did you try C12 yet?

I'm not sure if I should wait to try C12 until after I get done with my sample prescription the doc gave me. He gave me the sample and would like me to take it for 3 weeks and then come back to see him. But I'm definitely going to start the cardio back up.

I just purchased some TwinLab Blood Pressure Control online. Hopefully it'll be here in a a couple of days. I'll keep you guys updated on how it works.

Listen man. Get some sodium-free salt, aka potassium chloride. Put it in caps. Start taking a capsule 3 x ED. Then move up, 4 x ED. 5. See how the BP goes. It *WILL* come down.

Just my 2 cents. I have high bp and have been stacking test and GH for two years. Normally run about 145 over 100 and I am taking Hyzaar which is an ACE inhibitor. What you need to figure out is what is causing the increase exactly. Not just the gear, but what is happening in your body. What I found was my trigleceride levels were through the roof. A good fish oil omega 3 supp will help that ordinarily but if you are taking any form of finisteride (proscar/propecia) you are out of luck. Try the omega 3 and see. Could be retaining a ton of water as well. When I do my BP shoots through the roof.

I got the TwinLab blood pressure control in last week and yesterday I started taking a potassium supplement. The potassium pill is 99mg. You can take one with each meal.

Had the bp checked at 1:44pm today and it was 110/90.

ah, i didn't do much. i'm back doing cardio and on meds (1 5mg altace day) Took the bp this morning and it was 124/84.

This thread is scary. Sorry to be a party pooper but none of you are doctors, there may be more to this than meets the eye. Be careful with handing out advise.

If someone has high blood pressure, it is best to find the source of the problem and treat the cause, rather than treat the symptoms.

Some doctors will prescribe prescription medication without bothering to find the source of the problem. Or taking a look at a patients' life style and recommending diet and exercise changes to bring BP under control without drugs.

If you read the beginning of the thread, you'll see the W00kie's BP was unusually high and he did see a doc and he helped him get it under control with proper medication.

Well the other day I went to the doctor and found out that I have high blood pressure. I had a reading of 154 over 110! I'm 25 and my diet is fairly clean. I don't use lots of salt either. So I had some blood work done and I got the test back today. The doctor said everything was normal, so I have no clue of what the hell is wrong with me. She put me on some blood pressure medicine for two weeks and then I'll have to go back in to do another check up.

Ok back to the subject. Since I have high blood pressure now, does anyone know how that will affect me in working out? I bought a nice supply of superdrol, m1t, 1test, and 4ad powder before the ban. I was just curious if I could take any of this stuff. In the past I've had no issues with blood pressure before while on prohormones. Any ideas?
