Shred Matrix: Evening Workout

I took Shred Matrix right before working out. This time I did feel its affects while lifting. It gave me a second wind as I was pretty tired from the morning's session. I was sweating a lot, and I had a good workout all the way around. I had one of the biggest pumps ever tonight- particularly in my arms while doing curls. I could actually see a little vein pop out of my bicep. :) It was tiny, but still more than I've ever had.

3x14

DB Romanian Deadlifts (45 lbs)
supersetted w/ DB Incline Press (35 lbs)

Cable Cross Pulls (50 lbs per arm)
supersetted w/ Seated Calf Raises (90 lbs)

DB Overhead Tricep Extensions (22.5 lbs)
supersetted w/ DB Bicep Curls (22.5 lbs)

Shred Matrix: Day 17

I took my first dose of Shred around 11 this morning. I was up and about cleaning- SM helped keep my energy levels up while I was active. I did one of my full body circuits for cardio this afternoon (I worked out to Michael Jackson! :woohoo: ). My heart rate was through the roof and I got a great workout. I'm still feeling pretty pumped and energized, which is unusual for how active and busy I've been today. :D I like it!

I'm really enjoying the motivation, energy and stamina I've had while taking Shred Matrix. I am really beginning to see fat loss results, and it encouraging.

Shred Matrix: Day 18

I took Shred Matrix at 8am, a half hour before hitting the weights. 45 minutes after I dosed I felt particularly hot and invigorated. It is a great way to feel while lifting. :)

Morning Workout:

4x6

Squats: 145 lbs, 155 lbs
w/ Supinated BB Rows: 105 lbs

Dips: Body Weight
Unilateral Leg Extensions: 60 lbs

4x7
DB Flies: 25 lbs
Hammer Curls: 25 lbs

My squats felt good. Half way through I upped my weight up to 155 lbs- I had seemed to warm up quite a bit and felt that I could handle more weight. I worked in with another guy at the gym who was kind enough to share the squat rack with me. I actually ended up squatting more weight than he, for the same reps. I felt kinda' bad 'cause I embarrassed him by adding to his 135 lb. He was kind enough to let me work with him, and I didn't mean to make him feel embarrassed, I just needed to get a good workout. :( He ended up bumping his weight up by 50 lbs for one set to make himself feel better, but I guess it was too heavy for him, so he took it off for the rest of his sets. :/ He told me, " I'm working for definition, not strength."

I am noticing an increase in definition, particularly in my arms. I'm sure that I have replaced a fair amount of fat with muscle. While I've been working my bis out I've noticed it the most. :woohoo: Making progress is always fun! :D

 poor guy. I remember when I first started training at my gym, There is one girl there who is really fit, her name is Sarah, and I was doing seated french presses with something like a 40lbs dumbbell. She asked if she could work in, I said sure, and got up to leave the bench and put the weight back. She goes "you can leave that here", referring to the weight I was about to put back. Talk about some motivation to start going heavy. My ego was at my ankles. That must have been three or four years ago, but I remember it clearly to this day. Getting punked by a girl is a pretty damn good motivator.

Good on ya for showing homie what's up.

haha! Motivation is always a good thing, although I'd prefer to motivate a guy in some other way than out lifting him.

With my husband I just stand within his sight and pretend to spot him. I mean He's squatting around 400 lbs, there's no way I can help him pick that up! Somehow just standing there, holding onto the bar, telling him to "Get down lower! Get to past parallel!" helps him out a lot. BabyWifey motivates him. :)

Well yea, motivating Resolve and motivating others should be a different story for you altogether.

I just meant "good for you". Not many guys, even out of shape, would easily admit that a girl could outperform them at anything. It's just how we are brought up. But obviously you are gaining, and your numbers are quite impressive.

You would be surprised how much someone just being there helps. It is the only way I can do widow-makers, I won't even attempt them without a spotter. I don't need to eat the rack. I work out with my girlfriend a lot now, and every once in a while the gym is empty and she HAS to spot me. What people don't realize is that as the muscles fatigue, they lose strength gradually, they don't just collapse... most of the time. If done correctly, you should only have to apply minor pressure to help keep the bar or dumbbells moving. Now if Resolve folds himself in half trying to get too deep with say 405... yea, you two are probably S-O-L. But, Resolve knows what he is doing, I am sure you spotting him is completely adequate and appropriate. I've effectively spotted guys that squat 5-600 lbs and I can't deadlift 500 yet... still, as long as they are working within their limits, I should be able to move enough of the weight to keep them moving.

Ha - I only had 345 on the bar today, babe - not 400. Can't do 400 for 6 reps yet, but I'll get there!

GMG - Thanks and yeah, I don't lift more than I know I can handle, and always give myself a thorough warmup before going heavy. None-the-less, as you said, just having my girl there to "spot" me, even if it's only psychological help really, makes a world of difference.

I just read your post on the "other" board...

If I am not mistaken, You and BW are from my neck of the woods. I live in Oceanside.

Resolve, how's that strength holding up since you dropped the T-911? Still going strong?

So far so good - that 345 for 6 is a PR, I think, and my deads are holding strong. They haven't gone up, but it's been less than a week.

I also did behind-the-neck military presses to a dead stop for 195x6x3 on Monday, which I was pleased with. Not as much as I can do in front of my head, but hey, the dead stops make it much more difficult.

Some ice and a bit of recovery time should help. If it keeps up, you might want to get it checked.

Either way, you're what 60lbs lighter than me and matching my squat numbers? That's awesome man - as Dragonfly mentioned in your log, that's more than twice your body weight! I'd have to squat almost 500 to compare to that!

Oceanside, huh? Yeah we're about an hour away from there in Temecula. :) Very cool. You're the first person on AM that I know of living relatively close to us.

I know Temecula very well. Right on! Yea, there aren't a whole lot of us west-coasters on this board. DelSolRob lives in San Diego about 20 minutes south of me.

Shred Matrix: Evening Workout

I took Shred Matrix at about 5pm and got to the gym around 7pm. I've finished up one container of Shred, and tomorrow I will be starting my second. So far I am seeing a lot of fat loss results, particularly this past week. With my body weight circuits and heavy lifting twice a day, I am burning the fat off! :)

I tried out a scoop of Assault right before lifting. Man is that stuff good! Not only is the taste phenomenal, but the energy it provided while paired with Shred Matrix was great! I really noticed a difference. I am not as tired from my evening workout as I usually am. I think this may also be due to the fact that I had more recovery time in between both of today's workouts (2-3 extra hours). I will continue taking Assault at my evening workout.

Workout:

4x10

Single Leg Squats: body weight
w/ Decline Cable Press: 50 & 60 lbs

Seated Calf Raises: 115 lbs
w/ DB Pull Overs: 37.5 lbs

Cable Skull Crushers: 50 lbs
w/ Cable Bicep Curls: 60 lbs

This workout was intense, but as I mentioned above, I am not as tired as usual. I am still in awe over how much definition I have gained in my arms. My fat loss has really become apparent this week.

I was noticing how big my arms were while working out, and decided to measure them. Resolve kept on telling me that they "aren't that big!" while we were driving home, but I had to find out for myself. This evening (I still had a workout pump) they came out to be about 13 inches! Well, they aren't very big for a guy, but for a girl I think that is large... hmm... now that I'm seeing definition I kinda' like it! :)

I just caught up. I'm still tripping off of that 210 dead lift.

That's like... a lot of weight.

haha, I was actually kinda' disappointed when maxed out at 210 2 weeks ago. But then I was reminded that I am "cutting", and shouldn't expect to gain a ton of strength on a calorie deficit. :) I am gaining strength and muscle though, as well as losing fat, so I am on the right track.

Heck ya! That's awesome. I'll make a deal with you...I hit 405 on squats within two weeks, and you hit 225 on deads within two weeks.

haha- Oh dear. :/ Now I'm scared. Can I make it to 225? In another 2 weeks I will have probably gained 15 lbs of strength in my deads, right?

 I can try...

Okay. Deals on.

Hopefully. I'll go for 390 next week, and then 405 the week after that. I wish my bench went up that quick.

I go up in strength the quickest and easiest with deadlifts. The last time I maxed out at 210, I was actually aiming for 215 or 220. I just couldn't do it. :( Hopefully I'll be able to make it to 225.

Both workouts yesterday, there was at least one movement in which I was lifting heavier than the guy next to me for the same reps... It was sad.

After he said, "I'm lifting for definition, not strength." You should have said, "Ya, so's my twelve year-old sister." ...Whether you have a 12yo sister or not is irrelevant.

or perhaps you should have said, "Woha, is there enough weight in here for you, Hercules?"

I made him feel bad enough lifting more than he- I didn't want to embarrass him anymore. He was a nice, shy, under confident guy anyway. On the other hand, if he were an arrogant jerk, I may have rubbed my strength in his face a bit more. :p

One time to break the ice with a chick in the gym I walked by her as she was curling 2lb weights and said "Putting up the big weight today, huh?"

Bet that went over well. I try not to talk to people in the gym for the most part, I'm liable to hurt them.

Actually, it DID! I got a big laugh, smile, and a "Shut up!" - In case you never went to Junior High, the combination of those three is a good thing!

Shred Matrix: Day 19

I took one pack of SM this morning. I didn't really have any reason to take a second, so I skipped out on my evening dose. Tomorrow I will for sure be taking two, since I'll have the end of the week workout- always very exhausting!

Tomorrow I'll be hitting up the weights in the morning with 5x5 Deadlifts, with a couple other supersets. I am looking forward to it. :head:

If you want your deadlift to go up almost instantly, try doing your deadlifts tomorrow while standing a bit of an elevation. I usually use a 45lb plate or a aerobic step box. If you do this for a couple session you will get use to pulling from that height and when you go to hit a new max you will feel like you are pulling the weight so much less distance. As long as you have the flexibility to keep good form during this you should give it a try, just make sure to adjust the weight accordingly.

That is good advice right there.

I used to do this as well. Definitely a good tip!

Pulling from a platform is awesome - I actually did all my deads on a 45lb plate up until a couple of months back. Just thought I'd change things up for a while, but that increase in ROM that a platform gives can really make a big difference.

Works the legs more too...

Shred Matrix: Day 20

About 45 minutes before my first workout session I took a pack of SM. I could certainly feel it while working out- I had a lot of stamina which helped with my strength.

Workout:

5x5

Deadlifts(155, 175, 185, 190)
supersetted w/ Push Presses (70lbs)

Wide Grip Pull Downs (120lbs)
w/ Unilateral Leg Curls (70lbs)

Lateral Raises( 20lbs)
w/ Decline Bicep Curls (20lbs)

I was happy with how much weight I lifted for my Deadlifts. I lifted 190 lbs for my last two reps and supersetted! :D It was darn hard, but pushing myself is good.

I am surprised by how much I can Lat Raise. I have gotten much stronger over the past couple of months, it is encouraging.

Most definitely :goodpost:

I used to lift off a step box and with chains on both ends of the bar. Even better :D

This post reminds me of something...

Shred Matrix: Evening Workout

I took my second pack of Shred at 5pm, as well as a scoop of Assault at about 5:15pm. Wow, did I feel an energy boost! It was great! I'm very much enjoying these two products paired in the evening! :D

I got to the gym at 6, and pushed myself hard. I felt a bit sick to my stomache- not unusual for the last workout of the week. I am already pretty tired and lots of lactic acid buildup. I am looking forward to taking a break from heavy lifting this weekend.

4x12

Step Ups: 27.5 lbs
w/ Arnold Presses: 27.5 lbs

NG Supinated Pull Downs: 120lbs
w/ Seated Calf Raises: 100lbs

Cable Tricep Extensions: 70lbs
w/ Cable Reverse Curls: 50-60lbs.

None of these numbers are particularly high- but I did go up 10 lbs in my Calf Raises. :D I went up in weight in my last superset all together...about 10 lbs each movement.

Thanks, Dragonfly! :D

My pleasure BW :)

Speaking of which BW, how have you changed your diet to accommodate for the extra session of training? I did 2 a day for two months last year, and I lost weight like CRAZY. I COULDN'T seem to eat enough.

We've coordinated her diet such that she's eating barely under maintenance. That maintenance level was calculated with a high activity level taken into consideration. Carbs are fairly low (~150 on lifting days) but sufficient to effect glycogen resynthesis between morning and evening sessions.

Sounds good to me. It's cool you two have each other to bounce ideas back and forth about diet/training. My girl just takes my word for it... which is nice, because there is no backtalk... ... but at the same time I sometimes think I should get a second opinion on things... I am not Charles Glass after all.

Notes:

The last couple days I have taken off of Shred Matrix to help maintain my sensitivity. Unfortunately the Reset AD that I had ordered (to help me with my stimulant sensitivity) hasn't shipped yet, so I won't be able to start that up until next week probably.

Anyway, I have been noticing a loss of size particularly in my hips and waist. All of my pants and skirts are fitting me much more loosely in the hips than usual- This is a good sign! I actually have lost around an inch or more in my hips since my last measurement (4 weeks ago). My fat -loss progress thus far is noticeably steady.

Yesterday I did a body weight circuit for my cardio. I am amazed by how much water I drop from doing one of these sessions. For instance, I weighed myself right after finishing a circuit at about 9pm, and I came out to be 164. The next morning I weighed myself, it was about 11 hours later, and I was 160. I'm sure that there are other things that are contributing to this weight fluctuation, but I know that the cardio has helped keep me less bloated. It is nice, having less water beneath my skin really helps me to keep an eye on my fat loss progress- and so far it is looking good!

I've also noticed that I am more tired when not taking Shred Matrix. These last few days have been more laid back than usual, yet I am still sleepy. I am sure that being off of SM contributes to this noticeable tiredness.
