As of July 6th, The governor here in Maine made it mandatory for all businesses to adhere to and enforce the wearing of masks. Our overall compliance was been relatively high from the early stages, and I can’t think of a major retailer that wasn’t already on board. So yeah, now it’s officially mandatory regardless..
The tricky thing is that she expects these businesses to be responsible for enforcing this, which we know can be much easier said than done with some people. It’s a lot to expect from these businesses and their associates. My girlfriend works at the biggest supermarket chain in the state, right in my hometown which has essentially zero crime.
It’s quite interesting that store management has made it clear that while the masks are mandatory, they do not want anyone to enforce it if they have a defiant customer. They are afraid for the welfare of their employees if someone were to get aggressive or even open fire. So what’s next, do we place cops at the door? That would open another can of worms, not to mention an increased need for police officers. We all know that’s not in any immediate plans.
At first I thought you were quoting George Floyd. I was picturing a book of quotes by George Floyd circulating around. I’m sure it won’t be too long before that happen! There must be plenty of content form his multiple conviction records alone!
