Anyone worried if Corona virus keeps spreading the gyms will shut down?

never really enjoyed his style of no risk, defensive boxing, but admire how well he was able to do it....floyd is a smart guy, some of the stuff he says is actually quotable...but he aint no PINK FLOYD!!!!
Yeah, he’s a talented, skilled, and successful boxer, but he’s not a FUN one IMO.

4 pages back??? ... i guess either you all have died from the wu-han - OR you all have died wearing a mask to work out in.. which is it?

If we are mixing sports and Corona virus... did anyone see video of Dr. Fauci throwing out the first pitch? Oooofa. Sparked a lot of Internet jokes about his "accuracy".

not the only time his accuracy has been the object of internet jokes.

i wouldn't get my hopes up.

There hasn't been too many people using it in the early mornings - just the wrecking crew. Also getting an antibody test tomorrow and if that comes positive I'll return to commuting to my Mecca. So I'm keeping my fingers crossed either way.

if you get the 1st gen test i've heard there is discomfort involved...one of my wifes friends said they told her it would feel like tickling the brain, but she said it was worse than that---but then again she is a drama queen.

Yeah, I saw a news report today (I don’t have a source) that it’s not expected that gyms will survive through this. Partly because people will have discovered that they don’t need them or wish to go them anymore. While I don’t think that’s entirely true, it’s pretty safe to say we don’t have a timeline for anything these days, and life will never be the same as it was in 2019.

Ah that’s the PCR test which is testing for an active infection. I’m getting the antibody test which is just a blood test to test for past [presumably asymptomatic/mild symptoms] infections. My friend got a 2nd gen PCR test at CVS and said it was entirely painless though.

Which part? I’m pretty far removed from the news, so I’ve been getting most of it through this thread lol.
idk ... maybe the part were the state government let the rioting go on for almost 60 days now. the mayor of portland even got his ass handed to him on the streets when he went out to "protest" for blm. . but still its peaceful~

Did you guys see that they thought they had green berets on their side? LOL. This ain’t Ruby Ridge smfh... Invalid Link Removed

Don’t all those people have jobs? 🤨

I think so 🤣

Luckily, I think the majority of people share the same sentiment. 100% of people I have had conversations with about it in my personal and professional life feel likewise, and aren’t buying into the bullshyt. Even random patients at work bring it up in conversation and can’t believe the hypocrisy of it all. In the end, I remain hopeful that our country won’t succumb to these brainwashed lunatics and the good will prevail.

On another note, I wonder how long it will take for Trump to get blamed for the Sahara dust storm?

My gym closed for a good reason

Just the ongoing over the top riots/protests, vandalism, and targeting police etc. On a good note, I see that “undercover“ federal agents are using tear gas to remove rioters from the streets. They should feel lucky it’s only tear gas IMO.

I realize the right to peacefully protest is part of our constitution, but everything the “peaceful” protests encourage and lead up to is surely nothing anyone would consider to be peaceful. What’s worse is the underlying message remains bogus, and they are promoting a way of life that nobody would want.

Closed initially or opened back up and had to re-close?

The post of mine you quoted was in reference to BLM/turn police into the enemy protestors, not the China virus. Unless of course your gym closed down due to anti-mask protestors. 😬

This may be a newb question and dont know did you discuss it before, but what animal species ar emassively dying off from covid?

Previoudly when we had the virus jump from animals to humans (avian flu, swine flu) both times animal were also dying.

Which animal species is now dying except humans? I couldnt find any info?

a cat has been the first pet to catch it in the uk (couple of days ago). Hasn’t died but the first recorded case of an animal getting it here apparently.

on another note the press here is displaying the USA as pretty fucked still from covid. Over 1,000 death daily etc (for reference we are either below 100 or between 100 and 150). Gov here **** scared of the Spanish situation though (big increases there - talk of second wave etc)

Decided to go to the beach today! EVERYONE WAS AT THE BEACH.... There were NO parking and huge crowds with no masks. After 7 different beaches with no luck, we just went home. And the casinos are open!!!!! Why can’t the gyms be open, too?!?

What state is this?

What state is this?

Profile says CA.

Yea, CA. The Bay Area. BLM everywhere, people laying around Presidio in big crowds with no masks. Half moon bay, nooooo masks. I guess it was a good thing we didn’t even get a chance to step out of the car.

IMO, we could have taken greater advantage of the summer months in working toward herd immunity and not being overly focused on keeping new infections low (relatively speaking).

Despite cases being on the increase- the severity of symptoms, hospitalizations, and people requiring mechanical ventilation has been quite low. Hospitals have not been overwhelmed with China virus patients, and this is likely why..

As many have predicted-including myself, we are going to be in for a rude awakening this fall and through the winter months when the virus is going to make a greater impact on people’s health. We can’t run from this virus forever, as it has to run its inevitable course. We also can’t be holding out for a vaccine that most people have no interest in receiving to begin with. Herd immunity is our only answer..

i can remember when california was a great place....nice to have good memories.

@Ricky10 but according to this, although we may feel more symptoms during winter due to the more active immune system, we are also, because of that, more resilient towards infections in the winter time.

Hence, Covid should be doing more actual damage to the lungs in the summer, as our immune system doesnt react so strongly as during winter?

If there is more damage done in the winter by covid, that would imply its the overactive immune system doing more damage to the lungs rather than the virus itself, no?

sorry haha i am confused

Well, considering no states reinstated stay at home orders, masks were mandated but not enforced I don’t see how anything has changed. “Herd Immunity” has already begun, so I don’t understand who is running from the virus exactly.

Community transmission is high (hence the infection rate). So.. by definition the theory of “herd immunity” is exactly what we’re in.

Seems to me that kids need to go back to school. Figure that the virus has roughly a 0.5% fatality rate (not huge but nothing to scoff at either) and of those deaths 99.879% are over age 24. So school age kids are the safest people on the planet!

Get them back in school, the virus spreads like the cold/flu, kids all get sick, then they get better. AND boom... 100 million more with antibodies and the safest practical big step towards herd immunity.

Unless anyone has a better idea while we await a vaccine that may or may arrive soon, which may or may not work, that people may or may not be willing to take....

I hate the notifications not working haha. Back in. I read the other day there were some cave workers in China in 2012 that got sick with a mysterious illness that now matches the Kung Flu.
