A Squatter's Rites

Great workouts Resolve. Solid work done there. And I'm glad to hear that the strength is returning to your pressing movements.
Do you wear a wrap or sleeve on that elbow when lifting? I wear slip-on neoprene sleeves that support the elbows and keep the area warm.

Thanks, and yes, I do wear elbow sleeves. No way I could press without them right now. :D

I gotta tell all of you about this kid at the Med Center today. I did my afternoon workout in the gym there, and one of the other "lifters" was this boy who looked maybe 14.

He's going around to the different machines and doing his thing, obviously with no real clue what he's doing. I notice when I start my chins that he was watching me. Through all my chins, hang snatches and hang cleans, he continued to stare occasionally. No biggy to me, he didn't seem rude, just incredulous.

But when I start leg press, he came over and just started singing my praises like I was the greatest thing ever. "Man you're so strong!" "How much is THAT?" "How'd you get to be so big?" So I took some time to explain to him what I was doing, why, and a bit of what it takes to be a dedicated lifter.

He positively made my day. :)

^Props to you for being a good teacher, I am sure he learned more in those few minutes than he did before that combined. I get to do that at MetroFlex a lot with some of the newer guys and it really does make my day; many times I wish I had help along the way.

Whenever teenagers approach me for advice, it's usually, "What are you taking?" then they start asking my opinion on Tren 100% of the time.

How much were you snatching & cleaning Nick?

Some fksquak punk (maybe 17 or 18) told me I was squatting wrong the other day, and also told me that my girlfriend was bending forward too much and that she was going "to kill herself lifting like that." - This is the same kid who minutes earlier was in a discussion with a guy about how "huge" he was going to get when he had money to afford "protein and other stuff."

I laughed, shook my head and walked away to get a swig of water...I contemplated shanking him in the parking lot. :o

I found out later that his brother was a guy I trained with in college that I taught how to squat. lulz

PS: After last night, my bench officially sucks again.

I've never had that happen to me personally, but I've witnessed it and it was a punk kid personal trainer, who approached a couple of girls squatting on the smith and opened with, "I've been a personal trainer for 7 months, let me show you how to do these...." Where he halfed the girls' squat ROM. I guess the secret tip was, use half the effort and the lift gets easier?

However, I have almost gotten in a debate with some personal trainer and when he started pulling his credentials as a "certified personal trainer" I came very close to playing the credential one-up game with him, but I didn't. Though I replayed that moment in my mind over & over again on all the ways I could have smashed his ego.

Yeah, I don't encounter kids his age too often. Usually it's the 17-19 year olds who think they are the best thing to ever touch a 40lb DB.

Which brings up another point: Why sideways or crooked-billed hats? Just WHY?

Sounds like my brother's football team. I went to a dinner and had something similar happen. Problem was, a kid had just gotten kicked from the team for using Tren, so all his pals wanted to try it too. I spoke to the coach about making sure the kid saw an endo and got all his levels checked, but he blew me off. :(

Hang snatches went up to 175 for a sloppy triple (first one rocked, second two had elbows slightly bent). Then I started from 175 on cleans and worked up to 225 for a good double. I just felt the urge to do something explosive, so I went with it.

You didn't shank him? Wuss. :D Good job keeping your cool, I don't know if I'd react to well to something like that.

Why do you think your bench is having issues? Do you feel like it's technique related? Or just stress/life cutting into your strength?

That's some good self-control. I must confess, the "credentials = expertise" fallacy gets under my skin. I try to hold my tongue, but every once in a while some freshman "majoring in pre-med so I should trust him" pisses me off and gets put in his place. :/

Don't start with me on this!

9 out of 10 HS football coaches major in D-Bag Education, go figure.

A strategically dropped DB behind him could ruin his day, his pants and more importantly his pride!!

I am with you on the credentials deal. There are a lot of people that have some certificate who don't know their a** from a hole in the ground. Being good on a test does not equate to real world expertise. And the trainer doing half reps should be shot... more than once!

Have to comment on yesterday's sessions:

The AM rocked! I strict pressed 190 for 3. That, gentlemen, is PR. I've push-pressed much more than that, but never so much without leg-drive. Also hit 255 on Pin Press, so I'm making progress.

The PM felt a bit off. Did some chest accessory and arms. I was very fatigued from the day, but managed a good pump and sweat. The morning's workout definitely overshadowed this one, but it wasn't bad.

Man you and the two a days, I don't miss those! It is really hard to put together two great workouts in one day; I used to struggle with that when I swam all the time. Cardio and weights I can do just fine, two weight workouts is just asking a lot!

I'm doing two-a-days right now as well. The hardest part for me is getting through the work day. Once that 2pm, mid-work sleep fairy comes around, I'm fighting for my life to stay awake.

That's a beastly press, I don't think I could even jerk that much weight for 3, a single maybe. Good stuff Nick

Thanks Sam, I was really pleased. No elbow pain either! I've been taking 9 caps of super cissus as well as icing and stretching the joint every night and it seems to be working great!

Good to hear the Cissus is working, I just ordered some to help with the Epi joint pain I will surely be getting... oh wait, day 5 and it is already showing its ugly head!

I can fully appreciate the lack of aching joints after a lifting bout

Yeah, I probably should have included another bottle in my most recent order. SilentBob sent me the one I'm using now and I'm quite impressed with it.

Silent Bob is an awesome cat indeed. :scool:

One of the "nice guys" on this board. We need more kith and kin cut from the same cloth. :22:

First of all, congrats on the progress, big Nick!! A PR during an injury recovery mode, is just awesome. I can only imagine what kind of weight you'll be pressing once you're back to 100%.

And Super Cissus is good stuff. But don't forget some basic rudimentary ways to treat joint issues.
One can't deny the benefits of high-dose fish oil. This is first on my list of joint support supps. At least 10 grams per day.
Emu Oil is another product that people often hear me touting. I love this stuff for sore, achey joints.
Onions are also good for joint pain. No....don't rub them on the sore area. Just eat 'em.

Now, for anyone seeking advanced joint support, we have some ideas.
Deca-Durabolin in small doses. 200 mgs. per week for joint relief. Higher for muscular gains.
Anavar in moderate doses of 50 mgs. per day.

I must say that I've been using Deca-Durabolin @375 mgs per week for the last 5 weeks and my right shoulder hasn't felt this good in many, many years.

I'm friggin' McLuvin' it!!! :woohoo:

Thanks, TG, I can't wait to be fully recovered.

I always take 10g fish oil a day - I have for years. It does too many good things to not take it.

I had no idea onions were good for the joints, I will have to start eating more of them.

As for the Deca, all in good time my friend. :)

Yeah, I saw where cultures who consume more onions had way less inflammation than cultures who consumed less. The difference was huge.

I love onions, so it's win-win.

Now if only some supp company would make us some Onion Extract. That would make it easier for people who don't necessarily fancy onions.

Actually, I'm sure if I googled it, I would find Onion Extract. But no need. I love eating onions.

TG - I love onions and now I have yet another reason to eat them :).

Resolve - I am on the fish oil bandwagon as well, the more I am on it at 10+ grams a day, the better I feel and leaner I get. That said, the blood thinning effect does (in me at least) lead to more bruising and much slower clotting (again, in me). My joint supp plan for the long term is to get Emu oil, powder gluco, msm and liquid hyaluaranic acid to make a real topical dosed right. The ones on the market now are great but need more sometimes to get relief. SCRx and I will be friends to the tune of 6 per day once I get my order.

Do you guys have a recommended source for Emu oil?

It's even got a pump on the bottle and everything.

Emus maybe??:dunno:

LMAO I've been Thunder Struck! Too funny.

Doesn't equipoise increase collagen synthesis even more than Nandralone?

LMAO I've been Thunder Struck! Too funny.

Doesn't equipoise increase collagen synthesis even more than Nandralone?

Yes. EQ would be more effective for true collagen synthesis whereas Nandrolone has a more direct effect on joints themselves by theoretically holding water in and around the affected area.

All I know is the Deca is working like a charm in my own experience. Love the stuff. My stiff old joints haven't felt this good in many, many years. Combined with the Anadrol I'm on, I'm more pain-free than ever. And willing to push heavier too. Which means great increases in mass since strength is sky-rocketing right now. I've put on 9 truly lean pounds in the last 5 weeks. Water-free and bloat-free. Just rock-hard granite-like muscle. :scool:

I think an advanced relief cycle might look like:
12 WEEKS
Test-Cyp @500 mgs weekly
EQ @ 500 mgs weekly
Deca-Durabolin @250 mgs weekly
Anavar @ 75 mgs. daily for the first 6 to 8 weeks.

Rule of Thumb:
NEVER run Deca without running some Testosterone. ED issues have often occurred because of guys running Deca solo.

If one desires to run the Deca higher, they should also increase the Test dosage. The majority of lifters suggest dosing your Test at least twice as high as your Deca in order to avoid any ED issues or loss of libido.
It's not written in stone, but I adhere to it. Better safe than sorry.

Hence the term "Deca-****". Good info, TG.

BW's grandfather died this morning. Accordingly, I am skipping the days lifting.

Yesterday, however, I tore up some deads and GMs. Tried out a new gym too, but I'll update on that later. Spending time with the lady is priority number one right now.

Comfort and console her, dear brother.
I practically idolized my grandfather.

My prayers are with the family and friends. :hail:

Send my condolences to BW Nick. Sorry to hear about that, it was some dark days after I lost mine, she will need your support that I am sure you are providing. The iron is patiently waiting ;).

Sorry to hear that bro. I was uber, uber close to my grandpa and he actually died in the middle of dinner prayer when I was 6 or something. We were praying, then suddenly, thud, his head dropped. As a little kid I somehow knew he had just died. He was relatively healthy too, so it was a shock to everyone.

It's been a rough few days guys. However, getting BW plane tickets and paying for them has been a downright providential experience. I'm in graduate/medical school, and nobody ever got rich while in such a place, so paying for a last minute flight to CA seemed out the question. But BW's birthday is next week, and her manager suggested telling people that, so she's been raking in the tips like crazy. And just today I was offered an "on-the-side" opportunity that will cover the rest.

Pulled 455 for 3 of the most beautiful reps I've performed in months. They got the BW seal of approval, which is the standard of highest quality.

Also tried out that new gym and used a weight sled for the first time in who knows how long. Gotta lot of funny looks pushing and pulling that thing around. I had asked the trainers if they had one and they said no, but then I found one stuck back in a corner covered with dust. Stupid PTs.

This gym had the TINIEST power cage I've ever encountered. To do Good Mornings, I had to stand with the bar touching one set of upright supports, and as I bent forward the bar would brush the other set of uprights at the bottom of my ROM. And a trainer told me I was squatting wrong. Oh, and the cage was right next to the running track, so to get out of it, I had to walk onto the track. And the DBs only went to 100 - DB rows for sets of 30 got old REAL quick.

Strength continues to return, but I decided to deload this week - I've got so much on my plate right now I don't have to crap without feeling rushed. Apparently it's intentional, my mentor told me part of being a good scientist is "excelling under an overwhelming schedule." Whatever, I'm not particularly stressed, just really busy.

Glad to hear things worked out financially and good to hear your form is returning to form, per se. I love it when form syncs in, it makes me look forward to the next workout.

Been sick as a dog. Got it from Tomahawk, I think. ;)

I will be starting a new log, courtesy of Molecular Nutrition. Haven't decided if I'll put this one on hiatus just update both.

You guys have a preference?

As someone who is currently running multiple logs, you'd be doing yourself a favor in keeping it simple, especially considering how busy you can be raising a legion of zombie rats in the lab to rule the earth with an iron fist.

One log is enough, just post your link up in here Nick.

Haha my bad bro :puppy_dog_eyes:

Seriously though I think I am sick enough to get people sick across state lines. Yesterday marks the start of 2 weeks of sickness.

If you think you can do 2 logs do it, but I will say they are tough. People always end up choosing one over the other anyway.

Resolve, I know you are into the whole Intermittent Fasting thing, come join our log discussion Lean Gains and other IF protocals. Seems we need some advocates here to let the community know there is another way to eat successfully.

http://anabolicminds.com/forum/nutrition-health/174612-lean-gains-if.html

Advocates? Lol, from the look of it, IF is pretty well liked.:yup:

I'll start keeping track of my workouts again in this log in a couple of weeks, after my qual exam is done.

Yeah we have a huge upsweep right now of people within our group that are all experiencing Lean Gains on Lean Gains. I remember some of the same group riding another person who was running the same protocal telling him he could never gain any lbm from this style of eating. Funny what some more exposure can do. This must be a little bit what it was like when people realized the world was not flat.

I kinda liked being the lone guy with a crazy idea. Oh well...:)

Well now you are one of the unintentional leaders of of very effective movement. Not a bad trade off really.

And just like that he vanished!
