A Squatter's Rites

Orange and Riverside Counties. Right now we're in Temecula, but from tomorrow to the end of the week we'll be in Huntington Beach.

Aren't you somewhere in North L.A.?

5 min east of San Bernardino County and 15 min southwest of Orange County, by Raging Waters if you're familiar.

Sweet man, weathers not too cold, not too warm right now. Hope you have a good stay, stay away from Santa Monica and everything should be okay.

Having grown up down here, it's really nice to be back in my old stomping grounds. But I have no intentions of going into some of the more ghetto areas of So. Cal. I'm sticking with all the beaches I used to surf at, and the vineyards that surrounded my childhood home.

Around San Dimas somewhere then? I haven't been to Raging Waters since I was about 10.

Huntington is cool. Whenever I go to the beach I go to The Wedge down at the end point of Newport.

I haven't been to Raging Waters since 8th grade. I think only juinior highers go there and 18th Street and Tortilla Flats gangsters for some reason. I attended San Dimas High School, as in "San Dimas High School football rules!" from Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventures. That Circle K in that movie is actually the Circle K I frequent.

It Lives!
The 2011 Log Resurrection

So, I've been in California for a month as you all know and have generally been spending my time elsewhere, rather than online here with you goons. ;) I'd like to share some highlights from the last month:

- I box squatted 365 for 8 and pulled 505 for 2. Tricep tendonitis set in due to the dry weather out there, I think, though I did strict OHP 175 for 10. Since then, though, my left elbow hasn't been able to handle much of any pressure at all. Will start light eccentric training, and I've been icing and stretching like crazy.

- I learned what a simultaneous blessing and curse In-Laws can be. No sooner than we arrived at their house and BW's Dad hooks us up with the first smoke I've had in over a year. Hallelujah! But Mom-in-law proved to be the true antagonist of the trip; calling me all sorts of names and just generally displaying ignorance. But it ceased to be a problem and became a source of enjoyment when I realized she's about as gullible/dumb as a 5-year old. I had her convinced that the Disney Characters Chip n' Dale were named after the Chippendale Dancers and that Walt Disney was secretly gay. I also got her to believe a bunch of other total crap that I found hilarious, but this is what's coming to mind right now.

- Giving was truly better than receiving this year. Guess I'm grown up now, but it was a lot more fun to see my family and BW's siblings (who range in age from 17 t0 3) opening the presents we brought them than it was to open my own gifts. However, I did get some good stuff:
- A new food scale, which we desperately needed
- New Reef Sandals, the only brand I wear because they fit my giant feet
- A new heavy wool coat
- A beard trimmer - facial hair, here I come!
- Coffee, several new mugs (Charlie Brown, "Viking Power!" and one that looks like a Coffee Shop's Paper cup), and a stainless steel liter water bottle.

Excellent!

Ok, so upcoming stuff that will be occurring herein:

- I have some of the new Beta Stim from Josh at PES and will begin messing around with that this week.
- I also should be receiving some X-Factor Advanced which I'll log in here.
- The XFA will be followed by the Androhard/Dermacrine run that I've so been looking forward to.
- This coming Monday I'll begin two-a-days as that's what will work best for my schedule this semester. I'll train the heavy power movement in the early morning at my gym, where they are equipped for it, and train accessory movement in the afternoon/evenings at the Med Center. This will mean brief sessions that won't interrupt the flow of my work/school day, which will be quite busy.

Sounds like a great trip! - I'll be heading back to the warm weather this week myself; FL-bound in a couple days.

That's awesome to see you can keep up with all your training on break. I had trouble with that this year mainly due to the gym's hours of operation. Quite difficult to stay on track.

Let me know how that Beta Stim is. You know I'm always looking for new crack derivatives. Lean EFX has been probably the best yet for me, but it's growing a little weak as my tolerance is becoming apparent. - Slim X was insane, but I couldn't handle the next-day withdrawals. I was quite literally depressed for a full 24hrs after the stim wore off. Two, 2hr sessions of feel-good (initial kick, and then the delayed jolt) is not worth 24hrs of negative anger and bipolar disorder.

PS:

I have what appears to be a couple job offers in two very different parts of the country (FL and NE). Believe it or not, I'm pulling for the NE position; additionally, if it works out this means I'll have access to one of the country's top powerlifting facilities. - I know Al Caslow frequents the area, so if I get the job I'm going to try to get up with him if he can make time to train with me.

Resolve,
Begrüßen Sie Zurück bruder!!! Welcome back brother!!

Glad that you had a great vacation. Love the Charlie Brown "Viking Power" mug. I haz picz pleez??:lmao:
So your dad-in-law ignited the yule tide log with you, did he? ha ha :smokin:
Did you devour all the baked treats in sight?

About those huge feet, do you wear size 13's like I do? It's hard to find shoes sometimes that fit right. I know your pain. Easy to find boots but dress shoes are difficult to locate in a "normal" store.

Irish,
Good luck on those job offers brother. Go with NE. Warm weather is highly over-rated. :yup:

We have a wind chill factor of 6 degrees here this morning with 4 to 6 inches of snow on the way tonight.

I LOVE IT!!!:woohoo:

Well, I didn't too well while on vacation. We were dependent entirely upon others for our transportation, so I typically only made it to the gym once or twice a week. So, as you may imagine, when I was there, I made the most of it!

I just took the first cap of the Stim, we'll see how that goes.

Dude, the Midwest is the PL HQ of the nation, NE would definitely be a better choice in regards to training opportunities. However, from what I understand there is NOTHING else to do in that state except look at corn and get high. ;)

Two-a-days began this morning: Deads and Zercher Squats. I was heartily displeased with 455 for a triple in my pulls. I was hoping for 6, but it just wasn't there. I attribute it to poor sleep last night and my growing dislike for pulling for reps. Zercher squats, however, were good. Haven't done them in forever, so I was feeling my way through them. Some elbow sleeves keep the arms comfortable and I worked up to 235 for 5 with a wide stance. Great for hip stretching. Finished off with some calves and reverse curls for grip.

I'll go back this evening for pull-throughs, rows, 1-hand DLs and farmer's walks.

It's good to be back, man. The trip was great. A much needed refreshment.

The Charlie Brown and the "Viking Power" are actually two different mugs. I got BW a new camera for Christmas (let's hope she doesn't lose this one ;)), so pics should be doable.

I actually wear size 14s in most shoes. I can get away with 13s in Converse, so I have worn them exclusively for a while now, except for sandals. In sandals, I wear Reefs, for the same reason I wear Cons - I can wear 13s and so don't have to special order anything. Makes life easy.

Congrats Irish! Sounds like things are falling into place for you, particularly after that LG drama, I'm glad you've got these opportunities, and with options, excuuuuuuse me [head roll with finger snap].

I know how that is with the transportation and in Cali, you need to drive. When I went to Taiwan, they had a gym I had to pay daily to get into, however, everybody walks in Taiwan, like downtown NY, so I had to walk there, unable to read any kind of road markers (everything was in Chinese) and I got lost a few times, where I basically blew my energy wad on the walk. Furthermore, the 16 hour time difference was killing. It's like trying to lift at 3am or something. Anyway, sounded like a fun trip.

A piece of Disney factoid. When you first, first walk into the park, to the left you'll have seen an apartment like upstairs building, above the main street shops. It'd be the very first building with an upstairs on the left when you enter the park. That upstairs room was actually where Walt Disney often stayed and quasi-lived (apart from his real home).

Being out of town saved you from all the Androseries blue balls. PP has had their share of e-customer control these past two weeks. I'm excited for the stuff. Have you decided what you're most excited to try of the Androseries? I'm torn between Andromass and Androlean. Either I'm going to bulk or cut, decisions, decisions.

Ol' Walt was a quirky fellow from what I hear. I didn't know he had his own little room in the park, but I'm not surprised. :)

Andromass, definitely. Like SD w/o the hepatotoxicity and sides? Sign me up. Primordial has a lot on the line with the Androseries, we're all really expecting great things.

I think I'm leaning toward Andromass myself. I've never taken any of the -Drols, due to potential sides, so this stuff is pretty exciting.

It is exciting. I'm really hoping it turns out as well as the higher ups expect.

Today is a recovery day. Last night I hit some DL accessory moves, nothing spectacular.

PP Question. I just ordered some Phytotestosterone and Endoamp, first time for anything PP on my roster. Question. Should I run the Endoamp with the phyto-test right now or save the Endoamp for a cut maybe? or for when I try the Andromass? I'm a man of limited funds, so I have to make the most.

IMO, there is never a wrong time for phosphatidylserine. It'll go quite well with the Phytotest, but would also make a good addition to Andromass PCT.

So, it's really an arbitrary choice - you can't go wrong either way.

Hmmm... well considering Andromass won't be cheap (based on earlier, unofficial, speculatory prices), it'd probably be more economical and beneficial to save Endoamp as Andromass PCT. Would you squeeze in Phytotest for Andromass PCT as well? My funds are limited, so if I can start stocking products now, it'll be more beneficial for Andromass.

MMMMMMMM Andromass!!!! I bet that could put some of my size back on post surgery... Sounds like you had a great time out the in CA. Good to have ya back Resolve.

Yeah, Phytotest could be your test booster in PCT; I'd still want a SERM and AI, but it certainly fits well in post-cycle.

Thanks man. Surgery? Sorry to hear that - I'm out of the loop.:ugh2:

Anyways, hit up some bench and pull-ups this morning.

Because of the tendonitis in my left triceps, I kept the weight at 135 and used 8-10 second eccentrics. From some research I've done, eccentric training with light weight is a great rehabilitation technique. I did 10 sets of 3.

Pull-ups I have not done in a while and my back is still a bit tight from Monday's devastation, so I loosened up with a good set of bodyweight reps first, then gradually worked my way up over 5 sets to +90lb for 5reps. The final rep could've had a better ROM, but it was pretty good, all things considered.

I supersetted the pull-ups with cable curls (to even out my pushing/pulling volume) and worked up to 160 for 8reps, with a good squeeze at the top of each rep. I had to stack a couple of 10s on the cable stack as it only goes to 140. That felt good.

Tonight I'll hit rear delts, cable pull-overs, machine press and triceps exts for rehab.

Think a DB pullover, but using a cable stack instead. Set a pulley in the bottom position, throw a bench in front of it, and pullover as normal. It hits the lats better than the db version, IMO, probably because the tension stays the same through the whole ROM - i.e. until the bar hits your chest.

Gotcha. I do a cable pullover variation. I sit backwards in a lat-pulldown station and reach up and grab the bar and commence to do pullovers. It works just fine. Much more of an isolation type pullover compared to dumbells or barbell pullovers.
I hit up DB Pullovers on Monday: 130 lb. DB for 12 reps. Great feel.

Have you ever done pullovers with an EZ Curl Bar? Those are pretty bad-ass if I do say so myself.

I do wish I had one of those old Nautilus Pullover machines. I've used over 300 lbs. on one of those before. One of Dorain Yates' favorite exercises.

Yeah, I'll do the pull-down pullovers if I'm pressed for time and don't want to set-up the bench.

I've used an olympic bar for pullovers a couple of times, but it felt more like a triceps movement than anything else. Definitely intense though.

Those Nautilus Pullover machines rock! I really wish my gym had one - one of the gyms in Ca did and I maxed it out at 255, great stretch all throughout my back!

I actually have prescriptions for both tamoxifen and arimidex - it's pretty much the only upside of having had pubertal gyno.

I still don't have a source for AAS,though, :(

I'm still quite apprehensive of ordering anything so delicate over the internet.

true, it is somewhat sketchy.... but im sure if u asked 10 people from the gym you could get anything easily

Anybody wanna trade? I need cycle support supps. I've gotta a hodge-podge of IBE, LG and PP stuff.

Bummer. Would have swapped with you, but I just finished my bottle of Life Support. - Are you looking for anything else? I need some stims.

I bought Lean EFX for $30 on Amazon w/free shipping, but I'm building a tolerance. I don't even know what the main active is in that stuff. I don't think anybody does. lol

Lean EFX is just straight, raw Coca Tree extract. ;)

For you, BW may be willing to part with a bottle or two of X-Force. She has a stockpile of the stuff and is quite protective. :p

Have some X-Lean I want to get rid of, as well as X-Dream, too.

I just had to take a drug test for my new job and was seriously worried that the Lean EFX would show up as either MDMA or some type of methamphetamine. - Came back clear, so it either clears the system quick or doesn't render a false positive.

I'm all about the X-Force! :D - I love that stuff! Probably my favorite stim.

Well, you can chat her up on FB. Recently, she hasn't even been sharing it with me! :O

Well that's good. Are you taking the position in NE then?

Oh, official lifting update:

Box Squats: worked up to a double with 385, chest fell on the 3rd rep.

Leg Press: worked up to 630 for 20 with a wide stance. After the squats, these were murder.

Came back in the evening and did:

4 sets of leg extensions at 300 for 15-20reps
4 sets of leg curls at 240 to failure (wasn't counting reps, just going by feel)
3 supersets of split-squats and lunges, 20reps each with bodyweight
10sets of 12-20 BB calves, working up to 405

Finished off the week with some pizza and Guinness. :friday:

The week is going by too quick.

Monday sucked, as did my deads. My grip is great, but it seems my core is weak or something. Anywho, I worked up to 425 for several triples in sumo stance.

I'm losing weight, which is not what I want right now. Therefore, I've upped cals by 200 and will be monitoring this week for further adjustments.

This morning was quite refreshing - I was able to press 135 overhead with no pain and 10sec eccentrics. Also, I was able to bench 155 without pain. This means my tendonitis is healing and soon enough I'll be back to being awesome! I just have to hold myself back so I don't re-aggravate the elbow. :(

Yeah, especially with tendonitis. It's supposed to strengthen the joint, and the weight is really light. So far, it seems to be helping the tendon quite a bit. I also have been stretching and icing it every night too.

Injury sucks and age & injuries are carrying a greater correlation to me then I'd like to admit.

Do you normally deadlift with a sumo stance? Being tall, I wouldn't have guessed it. I see more shorter guys using the sumo than tall guys. I know I suck when doing sumo stance.

Close-stance all the way!!

Glad to hear your tendonitis is on the mend. No matter how many injuries we accrue, we always heal back up.

Hurry back to being awesome. ;)

When I was repping 405 on deads with relative ease, i could barely squeeze out a few on 315 in sumo. Of course I never gave sumo much of a chance, but everytime I try to, I end up saying eff it, back to traditional.

I actually just do whatever the hell feels best on the day. All my PR deads have been done with a narrow stance - I get way better heel drive and quad activation that way. But on Monday a wider stance, more akin to how I box-squat and a narrow grip just felt better, so I stuck with it.

For reps, sumo is way easier for me, probably because the bar has less distance to travel.

Same here. It really throws me off. Badly. More than my ego would like to admit. :happysad:

I ultilize a lot of hip drive. I feel this more with traditional or RDL stance. The Sumo feels more quad driven. It messes with my balance somehow.

Squats this morning - 15" box for triples, working up over 7sets to a double with 405.

Form felt very solid, but BW said I was "thrusting with [my] hips too much, this ISN'T A DEADLIFT!" So, apparently, I was trying too hard to keep my chest up and supercompensated a bit. Certainly better than having my back round like it did last week with only 385.

I believe my body is transitioning to early morning workouts finally. It's tough hitting the gym at 7am when you're accustomed to going at ~2 in the afternoon.

I'm doing the CL Motiv8 contest thing, so pics will be forthcoming this weekend. These are supposed to be "before" pics, so you can all expect me to get as bloated and water-inflated as possible. It'll only make the "transformation" more drastic. :)

Split squats and other leg accessory work coming this evening, followed by a BBQ at some Friends' house! Woo!

Yeah morning workouts take some adjustment time. Good to hear you are recovering!

Gentlemen - it is the little things in life that make the day-to-day worthwhile. I'm enjoying a very strong cup of french-pressed sumatran coffee and I just finished writing an abstract in only 1.5hrs. It's time to kick-back.

I apologize for the lack of updates this week. It was simply because nothing really noteworthy happened. My presses are steadily coming back, though this eccentric training is bizarre. My DL remains disappointing and my back squat continues to hover around 405 for 2-3 good reps.

This coming week I am deloading and I really feel like I need it. I also feel like I need to start bulking again soon. I'm tired of dieting, even though I could still lose a bit of fat. I'm stuck at my perpetual 10% barrier.

Nonetheless, I've been happy with life recently - I don't have to kill any small animals for the foreseeable future! All my experiments will be done in cells that are perfectly happy to grow and proliferate in petri dishes.

And I'm excited about the release of the Androseries. It's been too long coming.

Gracias.

Hip-drive and "pulling back" seem to be the problems for my DL right now. Got any ideas on improving those aspects?

This morning I kept things really light, since I'm deloading anyway, and just tried to find my groove again with deads, but it's remaining elusive. 315 for a bunch of singles and doubles.

Cool thing is that I used an overhand, false grip for all of it and had no trouble holding on.
