7'1, new here, looking to gain muscle/weight

7'1????.. son of a *****!!!.. i stopped at 5'9.

To gain muscle at ur size... your food bill is gonna be quite expensive. high calorie diet and heavy weights really. Yea lots of milk, lots of eggs, lots of meat, lots of rice, lots of veggies, a few supplements (plenty of stack ideas or shown in supplement section).

im not really aware of "stack supplements" seeing how i am new to this bodybuilding thing. Any help with that?

you stopped eating? took an extra large dump?
HAHAHHAHAHA, an extra large dump HAHAHAHAHHAH. its possible...
LMAo thats funny, eeee ok.
haha

ur intake prob went down, try and be consistent with the food and sleep for long hours.

possibility u weighed ur self in 2 different time periods. if u know wut ii mean(doubt you would)

I wouldnt't even look into any steroid / supplement unless its protein or creatine... at 7 1 and 220 you havent even scratched the surface of your natural potential... eat / sleep... stop playing basketball too it will burn too many precious cals.

Yea I agree, forget AAS/DS/PH for awhile, you need to get your diet down, anabolics wont do sh*t unless you eat a sh*tload. If I were you either make your own weight gainers or get Serious Mass from ON, its like 1200 cals in one shake, have 3 of those a day, and eat like 4000 cals on top of that, then you'll put some weight on, do that for a month then add some creatine. good luck

Not a fan of empty calorie weight gainers - make your own. You're missing out on all your vitamins, minerals and antioxidants from whole foods.

Throw the following "HardGainer's Blend" into a blender:

1 cup of oats
2 bananas
1 cup frozen blueberries
4 whole eggs
60g whey
200ml cream
200ml yoghurt
some ice . . .

It's a good blend of lo/hi GI Carbs fats and protein - (forgot the macros approx. P120 C200 F60)

Blend it all up in the morning and put it into a thermos - damn tasty, high in cals and all the goodness.

I would divide it into 4 equal servings and space throughout the day between Breakfast-Lunch-Dinner

yeah but the basketball could make him a couple of million a year too.

Now, you all will probably jump right on me for this suggestion...

But for someone at that height, with that weight...I say eat whatever you feel like my man. If you feel like pizza, eat pizza. You know yourself better than us, and if you truly do have a crazy fast metabolism then I say go on a "see food" diet...eat whatever you see, for the most part. If you start to gain too much fat because you realize you've been eating sh*ttier than you should have, start to incorporate some of the stricter diet advice given here or hell just do a bit of cardio. BUT make sure you're training the right way, heavy compound lifts, focus on the bench squat and dead (if you can with your knees and back). Go heavy, look up Bill Starr's 5x5, it works wonders for many people new to lifting. Unfortunately it focuses around the squat and dead, and if you can't do these correctly then don't do them at all for risk of injury.

I'm not advocating you drink regular soda or swallow a gallon of Hagen Daaz every night. Try to keep it clean but honestly, I wouldn't worry about being strict. You need calories, you're 20 years old, and you can't keep weight on. If you have the ability, the time or the need to get stricter with your diet, the suggestions listed so far in this thread have been excellent.

You have a low BMI (21.4). For me at 6'0, I'd have to weigh 154 lbs...I haven't been less than 200lbs since I was 16. That is LIGHT.

Eat whatever, just make sure you eat enough.

Best of luck.

...Go ahead gentlemen, tell me why I'm dumb. :bruce3:

.... yes, but he will still need to at least ensure he's getting adequate protein intake - there needs to be some method to the madness

Agreed. But hopefully if hes eating 6k calories a day by continuing what he wrote he eats (4 burgers, etc), he should have more than enough protein.

I just say, eat whatever you like. You'll find that to put on weight, its going to be a time-consuming process. And, more importantly, its going to cost $$$ to do it the "right" way. Utilize your unlimited free meals and just go to town.

But make sure you train!

Yes, sounds good guys. I am :::defininitely::: utilizing my unlimited meals at the university cafeteria. As soon as I walk up to the grill, the guy already knows to get me 4 cheeseburgers on wheat bread. After that I usually try to engulf a turkey sandwich. Lemonade on the side. Thats about a normal day.

Going to work out today, will see how much I weigh and will post later tonight.

i actually just finished playing basketball for about an hour, we had a practice for a big intramural tournament we are having this weekend.

I weighed myself before I played basketball, and weighed myself after, and had lost 4 pounds..

god man you are tall, and are guna have to eat like fu*kin crazy!!! like said before eat EVERYTHING!!! anything you see it, if you play ball for an hour and drop 4lbs mainly id say water weight from being dehydrated, id still eat whatever i want, so far you have all good advice in here man, hit the compound lifts hope your knees can handle it cuz squats and deads are the 2 best overall muscle builders to help you grow man soo good luck eat like a king!!

I started doing some squats last week and i am already up to 223 along with eating like a monster. have not tried deadlifts yet though..

Have you gotten used to eating alot now? Only way to go it up. I know it can be hard downing all that food, but in the end its worth it. Keep it up man.

I dont mean to sound deperesing at your height playing basketball you would proably need more than 7000 calories a day to gain decent muscle you would almost be forced to eat junk food a lot that comes out to about 1000 carbs a day you would never be able to eat that much with out getting some in sugars. Look at micheal phelps or a worlds strongest mans diet even if you weigh 300 you would look fairly thin.

by the wat lifting weight dosent make you gain weight only your diet does countray to what people say I would actually do a fullbody workout 2 or 3 times a week thats very popular with non steroid using athlete ray lewis, brian urlacker and many basket ball players use them heres an example
bench 3x5
cleans3x5
legpress3x5
deads3x5
chins 3x5 (for biceps) with you length your structur wouldnt be right to squat efficiantly or curl you would have a major.

right now i am living in a dorm so it is next to impossible to get eggs and such for breakfast. Come May I will be buying a blender etc and will be doing everything i can over the summer, and then the next semester i will have an apartment and will have the :space: for anything i need.

:::eating as much as i can:::

Blenders will be your best friend lol. Get a fridge in your bedroom and pack it out! :) Good luck with your weight gain

So take a wild guess at who was sick for a week and lost 15 pounds. It was a horrible realization when i found out. Starting from step 1 again. And by sick, I mean couldn't get out a bed, literally.

wow that sucks. how do you lose 15 lbs? dang son! Good luck anyways bro, ill be here if you need anything

Eating alot of good quality foods is key and getting enough calories to put on weight is tough for a guy your size. I have had good luck with quality weight gainers, I've been using Up your Mass with good results. 800 calories a serving with whole milk on top of what your eating should get you gaining weight like you want. I plateued at to 265 and recently got in to the weight gainers cause a just felt like i could eat enough. Drink whole milk like its going out of style. Like everybody says compound excersies and make sure you get somebody to make sure your form is good you've got a lot of lower back to worry about injurying. The size will come it takes time and a lot of hard work. I was 225lb 3 years ago at 6'8" eat big work out hard and it will come. If your not gaining your not getting enough cals.

Keep it up bro!

Sounds like some of that must have been water weight or the such, 15 lbs of muscle in a week is insane. Short of a degenerative disease or a shotgun, I havent seen that.

Good luck on your endeavers, you have been given alot of great advice from good people so far. You should post up a log, that way we can all pile in and support you!

Damn man! When you fill up you'll be a monster!

I recommend you enter the great realm of Powerlifting :D and eat clean like there's no tomorrow.

BTW, you don't train back? :S I didn't see back listed in your post.

Just got out of school. home for the summer. have a bench, dumbbells, and a bowflex in the basement.

Thinking about getting some sort of squatting "machinery." Good idea?
